Students in Full Sail Film Program Win Local to International Acclaim As It Becomes An Audience Favorite and Sets Its Sights on Sundance

WINTER PARK, FL (PRWEB) October 5, 2005

Full Sail Real World Education, an entertainment media college near Orlando, FL is proud to announce the recent recognition of award-winning student film, The Beautiful Wind.

The film was produced, written and directed by Full Sail Film student, Sohrab Mirmontazeri, 20, who served as Executive Producer. Another Full Sail Film Student, Tarek McCarthy, 31, and Sohrab’s brother, Ali, 27, both served as co-producers, and the film exclusively starred McCarthy. Since its creation, The Beautiful Wind has been winning over audiences internationally and has already been awarded three special honors.

The film was selected and won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the June New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in Las Vegas; has been a winner in the Orlando dMac’s Film Slam competition; and has just been accepted to the Los Angeles division of the New York Film and Video Festival where their film will be shown on September 24, 2005 at 8:00 PM, at the Fairfax Laemmle. The team also plans to submit the film to Sundance in January.

The Beautiful Wind is a 13-minute short film that was captured over eight consecutive shooting days, and vigorously edited in six. Production for the digitally-shot movie consisted of 12 to 15 hours each day, with a $ 200 budget.

The film was completed by Sohrab Mirmontazeri’s company, MirMont Media, and was in association with Ali Mirmontazeri’s company, E Sixth Entertainment; and McCarthy’s company, Inner Voice Images. The film was shot in some of Florida’s most beautiful locations such as St. Augustine, FL, and Orlando’s local forests, and pre-production on the film began after hearing the inspirational true life story of McCarthy.

McCarthy currently battles Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome, a genetic condition involving the abnormal growth of blood vessels in some parts of the body which are particularly rich in blood vessels and causes tumors to grow. One person in 32,000 in the world has VHL and currently there is no cure. McCarthy has suffered a total of six

tumors over the last few years – four in his head, and two in his stomach, and has been forced to start and stop Full Sail three times. He has continued to never give up his fight and he is determined to earn his degree in the Film Program which he will receive in November 2005. Sohrab will also receive his Film degree from Full Sail at this time.

“When I met Sohrab, I told him my only true regret was to be breaking my mother’s heart. She’s the only one who never left my side through this whole thing,” said McCarthy. “Now more than anything, I just want to drink life in. The next ten years, I want to accomplish as much as I can.” The Beautiful Wind captures that emotion and alters the symbolism to center around the idea of the loss of a woman which could be interpreted to be the narrator’s mother, wife, girlfriend or child. The film takes the audience on a journey of self-discovery, an awareness of the vibrancy of life, and the remarkable realization that all you have strived to find may simply be right in front of you.

The Beautiful Wind is filled with incredible visuals, and behind McCarthy’s narration of Mirmontazeri’s musings about life, it is set to the music of Moonlight Sonata and Kiss composed by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman. It has been described by Full Sail Film Course Director, Tom Dennis as a “visual poem.” “They just added so much texture that it was like watching a Van Gough painting come to life.” Full Sail Film Program Director, Dave Franko further added, “It is a beautifully shot film. I enjoyed this piece and I hope many people get a chance to see this inspiring film.”

For more than 25 years, Full Sail graduates have been making their mark on the digital media and entertainment media industries. Recent graduate credits include work on Oscar-winning films such as: The Incredibles, Million Dollar Baby, and Spider-Man 2, best-selling video games including: Madden NFL 2005, Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath, and The Matrix Online, and GRAMMY-winning albums by Ray Charles, Usher, and OUTKAST. Full Sail graduates have also been involved in creating motion graphics and Web Sites for companies such as ABC, Nike and the Atlanta Falcons, and have been in lead positions in the live event industry with artists and companies such as Madonna and Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba at Walt Disney World.

On August 11, 2005, Rolling Stone Magazine named Full Sail one of the top five “Best Music Programs” in the country, and honored Full Sail as having one of the nation’s top three music business departments in the Schools That Rock: The Rolling Stone College Guide. In addition, the January 2003 edition of Electronic Gaming Monthly named Full Sail one of the top five Game Design schools in the world, and in April 2000, Shift Magazine ranked Full Sail as the No. 3 top new media school alongside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (No. 1) and New York University (No. 2).

Antwone Fisher Pens Foreword-Inside Out: Entertainment Thru Non Profit Eyes

Houston, TX (PRWEB) October 18, 2007

This book goes far beyond a rudimentary look into the inner workings of dealing with non profits as taxes, IRS forms, obtaining 501(c) 3 status, but delves into experiences with celebrities, publicists, agents, managers, security, and other pertinent issues in association with non-profits. Readers will gain useful knowledge regarding mentoring, how to ask for help, how to receive it, how to reach, up, and reach back. Inspired by real life events that helped mold this organization into the industry insider it is today, “Inside Out” shares personal conversations and experiences about working with celebs. The book, which is intimately written, reveals some humorous behind the scene experiences celebs have had when dealing with non profits. It also shares the tumultuous moments; the ups, the downs.

Veteran Hollywood entertainer, actor Robert Guillaume (Benson, Soap) was left standing outside on the sidewalk for over an hour waiting for the driver of this very nonprofit to collect him. What words of wisdom did he share with the author today, and the answer to whether he stayed for the appearance back then are answered in “Inside Out: Entertainment Thru Nonprofit Eyes.”

Including resources for celebs and others to start their own non profit, “Inside Out: Entertainment Thru Nonprofit Eyes” also has sections from experienced, professionally credited and highly credentialed, individuals such as author of the award-winning book, “For the Love of Money: The 411 to Taking Control of Your Taxes and Building Your Net Worth,” “The Vault Guide to Tax Law Careers,” and “Helping the Nonprofit Client,” Shannon King Nash. Nash is a CPA, tax attorney, and owner of the Nash Management Group with clients such as Debbie Allen, Ne-Yo and others. Also, Florene Alexander Grant Writer for Urban League of Los Angeles. There’s information on monitoring non profits from government contracted monitor, Mable Jones, and Mary Dean Harvey Director of the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) on obtaining State funding.

Actress Camille Winbush (Bernie Mac Show) tells us her heart is close to teen dating abuse. She supports http://loveisrespect.org , while Courtnee Draper, (Ghost Whisperer, CSI Miami gives her time to http://losangelesmission.org. Actress Kimberlee Peterson, (NCIS, West Wing) supports S.A.F.E. Alternatives, an organization that helps people who suffer from the disease of self mutilation, also known as SI.

Co author Vanessa Morman expresses about the project, “The most interesting and equally exciting aspect of putting this book together is learning that these young people are earnest, passionate and quite astute about social ills. Their focus and commitment to their chosen outreach entity is absolute. It’s moving. Also, having Dr. Antwone Fisher onboard is such an honor because he’s so humane. He touches nothing devoid of compassion.”

Judy Landis Landis-Simon Production and Talent Management- states, “I feel this book will be extremely helpful for celebrities and everyone. REMEMBER, the one who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones….A human being cannot be comfortable without his own approval….That’s what its all about.” (Producer, One On One).

“After (20+) years of working in entertainment media, I can honestly say that Inside Out: Entertainment Thru Non-Profit Eyes will be extremely helpful to community groups, media, and celebrities who are committed to outreach endeavors. Networking is so key in the entertainment industry. Knowing people who can open the doors, especially in dealing with celebrities and their publicists, agents, etc., is tantamount to having a successful media event. The book is sure to tap into some of the great minds in PR which have a lot to offer in regard to media strategies, planning and promotion. Kudos to you for creating such a media-savvy guide that can provide useful information as well as those all-important contacts.” Shirley Henderson, Ebony Magazine, Associate Editor.

Radio One’s V100’s Community Service Director, Daniella Masterson, of Los Angeles offers regarding the book, “Celebrities are not just stars; they are opinion leaders. They influence fashion trends as much as lifestyle values. But the most beautiful thing is that it can be a symbiotic relationship. The stars grow from working with the true stars of the community.”

“Inside out: Entertainment through non-profits eyes is an excellent approach to display philanthropy at its best. Celebrities often get overlooked when it comes to positive contributions in their communities. Nonetheless, this book provides an avenue to showcase how Celebrities are giving back.” Hot 107.9 Atlanta-Rashan Ali – Radio Personality & Actress (The Gospel).

“While many celebrities are involved with this book project, the book certainly is not about celebs; but the work they lend themselves to in their everyday, ordinary lives in staying connected to, or reconnecting to their respective communities be it on a local scale, or globally.” Curtis Benjamin, Author.

Additional participating celebrities providing quotes and in-depth interviews include the T. I. K.I.N.G. Mothers Can Raise Entrepreneurs

(PRWEB) April 19, 2004

Celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit is Lemonade Stories, a new film by award-winning film maker Mary Mazzio and Babson College, which profiles great entrepreneurs including Richard Branson (Virgin), Arthur Blank (Home Depot and the Atlanta Falcons), Russell Simmons (Def Jam) and Kay Koplovitz (USA Network, Sci-fi Channel).

These entrepreneurs share the secrets of their success and talk about the person who inspired them – their moms. Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Atlantic Airways, learns lessons in risk-taking from his mother, Eve, a pilot during WWII. Billy Starr, founder of the Pan-Mass Challenge, is motivated by his mother’s death from cancer to raise more than $ 100 million for cancer research. Arthur Blank, co-founder of Home Depot, learns from his mother that a widow with a young child can successfully run her own business. Kelly Reinhart learns from her mom (and dad) how to turn an idea into a million-dollar business while still in elementary school.

“What is fascinating is that many of the mothers featured in the film were raised at a time when women were not expected to work. Yet all of these women were risk-takers and encouraged their children to take risks to achieve their dreams,” Mazzio said. “These moms also stood by their children later in life, in moments of failure and times of crisis. Richard Branson and Russell Simmons both claim they would have gone out of business, but for last minute loans from their mothers, who stepped up when no one else did.”

Lemonade Stories will debut at Babson College (ranked No. 1 by U.S.News & World Report as the best college for entrepreneurship) on April 23, 2004 during Babson’s 25th annual Founder’s Day celebration of entrepreneurial spirit, where the mothers featured in the film will be honored by Babson for their contributions to business. It also will be shown, as an example of the use of film in an entrepreneurship classroom, at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Price-Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators, June 3-5, 2004, at Babson. (Public showing will take place on April 25, 4 pm, Babson’s Sorenson’s Center for the Arts. Call 781-237-3329 or lemonadestories@aol.com for reservations. $ 10 adults; free for students.) The film will be aired nationwide on Friday, May 7th at 9pm EST on CNNfn.

“Babson College is a firm believer that the entrepreneurial spirit dwells within everyone,” says Babson College President Brian M. Barefoot. “Lemonade Stories wonderfully depicts how that spirit can be nurtured and developed within the family. Just as we are honored to assist our students in shaping their entrepreneurial abilities, so too are we honored to be a part of Lemonade Stories.”

Mary Mazzio, herself an entrepreneur, former law firm partner, and Olympian (1992 Olympic Games – Rowing), wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning film A Hero for Daisy (hailed by The New York Times as “a landmark film” and Sports Illustrated as “fantastic”) and Apple Pie (“warm and illuminating…told with deftness and emotion…priceless”-The New York Times; “fantastic”- National Public Radio; “excellent” – CNN). Both films aired prime-time, nationwide on ESPN (among other outlets in the US and Canada) and are in thousands of classrooms across the country. For more information about these films, please log on to http://www.50eggs.com. Mazzio, President and CEO of 50 Eggs, Inc., is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Georgetown Law School, and serves on several non-profit boards. You can contact Mazzio at 781-237-3329.

Should NFL Stars Michael Vick, Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger be Forced to Play?

(PRWEB) January 2, 2005

The end of the NFL season came early for several teams this year. Some had clinched their spot in the playoffs and others had secured a high draft pick. However, just because an NFL’s team season is over, does that team have an ethical responsibility to play its best players?

http://legalball.com/NFL_2004_Ethics.html answers that very question.

Four spots remain available for the playoffs entering the weekend with nine teams competing for the each spot. Therefore every game played this weekend will have bearing on the playoff scenarios. So what happens when a team has already clinched their position and decides to rest their star player? Such a situation may very well occur this Sunday when stars like Michael Vick, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Duce Staley may all be held out to remain healthy for a Super Bowl run.

Only two weeks ago Philadelphia Eagles’ star receiver Terrell Owens broke his leg in a rather meaningless game. Owens will now miss the postseason and the Eagles Super Bowl dreams have been greatly diminished.

The Atlanta Falcons would suffer the same fate if Michael Vick got hurt this weekend, or Peyton Manning and the Colts, or Tom Brady and the Patriots or any number of other stars.

At http://legalball.com we discuss the ethical question surrounding this dilemma, specifically is the integrity of the game placed at risk when the best players are held out of playoff implicating games?
