ARTHX™ Introduces Triple Strength Once Daily Dose Gelcaps for Convenience and Maximum Joint Health

Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) February 7, 2004

Responding to consumer demand for a more convenient dosing method to provide maximum benefits for joint health, Contract Pharmacal Corporation (CPC) now offers ARTHx® Triple Strength Once Daily Time Release.

“Many of my patients suffer with arthritis-related pain, and ARTHx slows the progression of arthritis while it stimulates cartilage growth,” states Steven Schulman, M.D., a Roslyn, N.Y.-based board-certified physician specializing in pain management. “Recent studies have confirmed that the ingredients in ARTHx can relieve discomfort in these patients without the stomach, kidney and bleeding side effects seen with the ibuprofen class of drugs. Because many of my patients maintain an active lifestyle, the ARTHx time release formulation ensures that they will get maximum benefit without worrying about missing a dose.”

It is estimated that as many as 70 million people in the United States alone have some form of arthritis or joint inflammation. John Wolf, founder and chief science officer of CPC, explains, “With more boomers and seniors seeking ways to eliminate symptoms associated with joint inflammation in order to maintain their current level of daily activities, as well as sport pursuits, we have expanded our ARTHx product line to include a maximum once-daily dosage.”

ARTHx products, long regarded for their ability to relieve joint inflammation and associated pain, appeal to serious athletes – past and present – as well as general consumers. Dick Butkus, NFL Hall-of-Famer, whose knees took a pounding over 9 seasons with the Chicago Bears, actually uses ARTHx and is now serving as the company’s spokesperson.

ARTHx Triple Strength soflet® gelcaps provide the most widely recommended dosage of glucosamine and chondroitin in one convenient two-caplet dose. “Most other glucosamine and chondroitin supplements require that you take them twice or even three times per day,” says Wolf.

Scientifically formulated with glucosamine and chondroitin to renew cartilage, reduce joint stiffness, improve joint mobility and ease the pain of everyday activities, ARTHx Triple Strength soflet® gelcaps are all natural, pharmaceutical-grade nutritional supplements for joint health.* ARTHx products are available at Walgreens, Duane Reade, CVS, Rite Aid and other local pharmacies.

“Joint inflammation is a normal part of the body’s response to overuse, injury or disease,” notes Wolf. “But, you don’t have to be in the Hall-of-Fame to benefit from ARTHx.”

Over time, the natural ingredients in ARTHx™ Triple Strength Once Daily Time Release can help provide improved joint comfort without the side effects of many nonprescription pain remedies.

ARTHx™ Triple Strength Once Daily Time Release is quality tested and manufactured in accordance with the strictest standards for purity and safety by Contract Pharmacal Corporation, an FDA-inspected manufacturer of prescription pharmaceuticals.

First-Time Heart Attack Survivors Have a 500% Greater Risk of Sudden Death–New Book Aims At Reducing Risk—

Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) February 25, 2004

What Readers are Saying about Heart Attack Survivor…

Dick Butkus, NFL Hall of Famer and Chicago Bear Legend has graciously said about “Heart Attack Survivor” — I picked up your book at Steve Thomas BMW last Thurs. Friday I had a flight from LAX to Pittsburgh and I couldn’t put the book down the whole trip! So much of the “stuff” one goes thru after an attack or even the 5-way bypass I experienced was dealt with in a very thought provoking manner. It is Sunday night and I have tried a few of the suggestions and can honestly say that there has been a change in my attitude in two short days. I have roughly 787 marbles to go! Thank you for reminding me to make them all count,

Dr. Richard Carlson, author of “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” — says about Heart Attack Survivor – a field guide “Practical, helpful, and full of great life-affirming advice. Anyone with a heart, healthy or not, will enjoy this book!”

Ted Gallup, a physical therapist and the Wellness Director at a large Nursing Facility — said about “Heart Attack Survivor” I am a 43 year old man who survived a massive heart attack on Dec 1, 2003. Being a physical therapist and the Wellness Director at a large Nursing Facility, I have the background knowledge to lead a healthy life, but I succombed to poor genetics. I have been a runner for 30 years, practiced and taught yoga and tai chi, and ate lowfat healthy foods for years, but still stress and family history lead to this cardiac event. My good fortune is that my pre-condition was so good that my recovery is expected to be speedy and hopefully full. I am focusing on continuing to do all the right things, and in addition attempt to lower my stress levels. Your book has been my constant companion this last week as I rest and begin cardiac rehab. I recommended the field guide to my cardiac nurse. Thank you for being out there! I am sure the book will make a difference in my life beyond what it already has.

In His New Book “Heart Attack Survivor,” Brad Henson Shares The Driving Forces of Longevity Before and After Heart Trauma.

Here’s the Story:

“Heart Attack Survivor” is the field guide for heart attack victims who are determined to outlive their disease. This extraordinary book gives one of a kind advice because it’s author devised the book’s exceptional life-guiding principles in the aftermath of his own heart trauma to take himself from merely striving to completely thriving.

After Brad Henson’s heart attack his life seemed to come to a screeching stop. He felt truly lost, alone, and frustrated because no one was present with him to answer his most pressing every day concerns.

Brad went on a quest, making a lifetime commitment to scrupulously performing in-depth research on the subject of completely conquering his cardiac challenge. He was truly committed to making his life experience the most brilliant, outstanding and incomparable event possible.

What Brad discovered was truly extraordinary. He discovered that the answer to regaining his life back and shaking off the fear could be found in making a systematic series of profoundly simple life changes. The result of Brad’s discoveries became a book unlike any other book that has been written related to the topic of heart attack survival. No other book gives you revolutionary ways to actually change personality flaws that make you susceptible to a heart attack.

This is the first and only book on heart trauma that shouts the concerns heart attack victims experience the most — while providing clear ground-solid solutions. The book covers the foremost uses of proper nutrition with a list of actual supplements that reduce risk factors for future heart attacks. The book outlines matchless techniques for building spousal support and excels in dealing with the practical issue of resuming sexual activity after trauma. The book helps survivors identify and reduce the most common real life stress triggers while giving remarkably effective stress point reduction techniques that work almost instantly to relieve feelings of pressure.

“Heart Attack Survivor” will become the inseparable companion of anyone who has recently outlived their own heart trauma experience. Author Brad Henson, continues to provide living proof that his techniques and ideas help regenerate life after a heart attack and that real survival lasts a lifetime — a very long lifetime.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 14, 2006

This extraordinary team of world-class talent gathered to choreograph the corps of 400 dancers, gymnasts, aerialists and performers includes: Iega Jeff of Chicago?s Deeply Rooted Dance Company; Joel Hall, worldwide icon of dance who is a Gay Games Champion and has his own Chicago-based dance company; Michele Lynch, a former Radio City Rockette, currently a Broadway and national theatrical/spectacle choreographer; and Chris Harrison, founder of New York?s Anti Gravity, an aerial and acrobatic troupe of world-class gymnasts and athletes. National Time Systems of Miami, FL, and NOVAtime 3000 Score a Touchdown at Super Bowl XLI

Monterey Park, Calif. (PRWEB) June 14, 2007

When Boston Culinary Group was handed the daunting challenge of employing a support staff of over 3,000 to service the Super Bowl XLI food fest, they knew they had to upgrade their Time and Attendance system. Kevin Hookway, who was in charge of the project, was faced with two criteria: first, to select the best solution to fit the workforce management needs of Boston Culinary Group, and second and just as importantly, to live up to their commitment of getting the job completed within the promised timeframe.

Mr. Hookway stated, “We were in need of a solution that operates as efficiently as we do when we provide quality food and excellent service with timely delivery. We needed a system that would provide up-to-date information with powerful reporting capabilities that could be easily integrated into our existing systems. On top of that, it must be installed to its perfection by the due date, and we didn’t have a lot of time!” They also wanted a guarantee that, not only were all the actual employees clocked in, but they were physically on the job and ready to feed and cater to the thousands of eager fans at the Food Courts, Stanley’s and Patrons Chairman’s Clubroom, and Johnny Walker’s Buffet & Lounge. In their search to accomplish these tasks, they selected NOVAtime 3000 Enterprise Edition workforce management system, installed and serviced by National Time Systems with offices in Miami.

“NOVAtime 3000 has the features we needed and is very easy to use. Even with our special customization and integration requirements, I had complete confidence in National Time Systems’ statement that NOVAtime would work 24/7 to make sure they meet their deadlines, and they came through with flying colors,” said Mr. Hookway.

When Boston Culinary Group made the decision to upgrade their Time and Attendance system, they were looking for several things; first among them, a product that could meet all of their Time and Attendance / Workforce Management needs. Another key requirement: “it must have the ability to prevent “buddy punching,” where an employee clocks in for a coworker. This prevents fraud and insures the right people are in the right place at the right time. At Boston Culinary Group, their goal is to focus on their business — delivering quality food timely to the Super Bowl XLI attendees and press groups, not worrying about tracking the whereabouts of employees.

National Time Systems answered these concerns with the NOVAtime 3000 Enterprise Edition system (NOVAtime 3000), a web-enabled Time and Attendance / Workforce Management solution utilizing biometric hand-reader data collection terminals. The NOVAtime 3000 system was configured to allow Boston Culinary Group’s supervisors to easily administer employee coverage in real time as well as to collect critical labor information. Their supervisors can readily review and approve employee timesheets in preparation for payroll processing.

The major hurdle presented to NOVAtime was the absolute drop-dead hand-over date for the completed installation. That date was January 8, before the 2007 Super Bowl game from which date there could be neither deviation nor extension. Further, a modified interface program had to be written to accommodate transferring the data to their Ultipro Payroll system.

These challenges had to be surmounted, with configuration and testing completed, within a four-week timeframe to meet the Super Bowl schedule. Mr. Hookway created a detailed project plan for National Time Systems and NOVAtime Technology to adhere to, and the NOVAteam met all of these commitments with time to spare! Mr. Hookway stated, “I have been extremely happy with the system and the implementation went like I hoped it would, considering the fixed timeframe they were working within. NOVAtime 3000 provides accurate real-time information that is easy to use and manage, so we can focus our energy in serving the Super Bowl attendees. It’s also great to know that when someone is clocked in, they are actually at work.”

In the first Super Bowl ever played in a rainstorm, the Colts defeat the Chicago Bears 29–17 before 75,000 fans at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida. Through the use of this innovative Time and Attendance/ Workforce Management system, Boston Culinary Group fed 75,000 game day attendees and the expanded press corps at the Dolphin Stadium in South Florida with ease.

The NOVAtime system is also used by Boston Culinary Group at the Bank Atlantic Center, home of the NHL’s Florida Panthers.

The Hit Sensation “The All Female 1929 Skidoo Revue” is Blowing Audiences Away

North Hollywood, Ca. (PRWEB) March 30, 2008

When was the last time you experienced Vaudeville? Written and directed by award winning playwright, Eugene H. Butler, The All Female 1929 Skidoo Revue is knocking audiences off their seats with laughter and nostalgic memories of an almost forgotten Vaudevillian era. Pat Taylor, resident theatre reviewer in Toluca Lake, California, where Vaudeville’s super star Bob Hope made his home wrote, “This L. A. premiere is a nostalgic, fun-filled, talent-packed evening of memories, mirth, and music? I loved this one! Written with whimsical flair and plenty of research by Eugene H. Butler, who also playfully directs this fresh, perky, and versatile cast, it is a rollicking, fast-paced trip back to the days of Vaudeville” — TOLUCAN TIMES.

Nine spectacular women grace the Actors Forum Theatre’s stage with original sketches and musical numbers written by Eugene H. Butler. New York born Billy Revel, composer and arranger, plays the piano in the role of Alfie Finger. Billy captures the music of the era, transporting the audiences to the days of Vaudeville with nostalgic melodies that were popular at the time.

Entertainingly recreating vaudevillian melodramas and comedy vignettes that drove audiences to the theatre in herds in the late 1920’s, The All Female 1929 Skidoo Revue is choreographed by one of the high-kicking Radio City Rockettes, Autumn Withers. She is also known for her role as Tessy in the original Broadway production of “Yo’ Alice”. Autumn masterfully stages the vaudeville dance style moves … titillating, sensual and fun, performed by the all-female cast.

Wearing multiple hats and playing the roles of both men and women, the Los Angeles based cast of talented actresses is truly a delight to watch. Carrie Blomquist, one of the Skidoo gals, creates great funny moments on stage along with Kristi Leigh Snyder. Both hilariously present several memorable characters with great vaudevillian timing. Carrie, who has choreographed a variety of performances for the Chicago Bears “half-time” and Disneyworld, also adds her special choreographic flair to some of the numbers.

Eugene H. Butler has done a phenomenal job in creating this not-to-be-missed experience. Currently teaching at the Lee Strasberg Institute as a director, Eugene has brought to the stage the feeling of Vaudeville without being campy and over the top. The acting is superb, organic, genuine and versatile. The all female cast portrays a wide range of characters male, female, dramatic and comedic. Suzana Halk, who recently was seen in the “Vagina Monologues” and can be heard in the cartoons “Crash Boom Bang”, “Ulysses”, and “I my Me, Strawberry Eggs” shines with her abilities to do voices and dialects. Ashley St. Pierre, who played Cinderella in Sondheim’s “Into the Woods”, cleverly performs with Suzana an Abbott and Costello type sketch that reminds us of the great comedy duos of the Vaudevillian times.

Joining the cast is Lorraine Pope and a surprise appearance by Glenn Zorn. The glamorous 20’s fashion is brought to the stage by costume designer Alizon Harris. Artist and set designer Pieter B. Bennett has created a set that has completely transformed the Actors Forum into a Vaudeville Theatre .

It was an exciting opening night for Skidoo, at the Actors Forum Theatre. Attending were several residents of the NOHO Arts District, press media , friends and relatives of the cast. Guest celebrity, Carl Ballantine, who has appeared in dozens of films and TV shows from McHale’s Navy to Laverne & Shirley, got a chance to see a touch of Vaudeville again. Carl got his start in Vaudeville and was honored that evening by the cast and crew of Skidoo with a Certificate of Appreciation for Keeping Broadway Alive. Mr. Ballantine continues to perform his amazing comedy act, most recently at the Kodak Theatre. Now playing to packed audiences, The All Female 1929 Skidoo Revue is a must-see for the entire family.

Skidoo is for everyone, especially for you. The charming story begins present day as Meme Dames, a 95-year-old past Vaudevillian emcee, sneaks her great-granddaughter into The Regal Theatre, on the eve before its demolition. Inspired to share her fond memories with the girl, and to relive her own past, the stage magically comes to life for them as the “Skidoo Revue” plays out one last time. Audrey Marlyn is hypnotically mesmerizing as Meme Dames, transporting us back in time as we read the depth of her memories, feelings and soul through her haunting eyes. Bravo! Jenna Zillman is a delight as Jordanna, her reluctant teen relative, who also depicts Meme as a young woman in flashbacks. In 19 musical and comical production numbers … a wonderful cast catapults us to another time? not a weak portrayal in the cast! The Tolucan Times.

Marian Tomas Griffin, who played Mary Mennihan (Psycho Nanny) on CBS’s “As the World Turns”, adds a special touch to the cast. As a singer, Marian is a major presence in the Irish Music scene. She delights us with a song written by Eugene H. Butler, as the Skidoo girls join in. She is also known for the role opposite Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt in “The Devil’s Own”. On stage at the Actors Forum Theatre, she effortlessly combines her dramatic and musical talents. Playing the role of “Daisy Mae” in the melodrama sketches, Marian and her husband “Johnny Lee”, played by Heather Wood, keep the audience on a cliff- hanger ride in between the comedy and musical sketches. Will Daisy Mae go with the evil landlord to help pay the rent? Who will take care of the baby? Will Johnny Lee ? O Dear!

“Butler now turns to vaudeville to enrich our lives with the great musical comedy sketch entertainment that was the basis for TV variety shows of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Think of Carol Burnett, Jackie Gleason, Danny Kaye, Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Ed Sullivan! They owed it all to vaudeville. This new homage at the Actors Forum is a sheer delight with a cast of lovelies – both beautiful and gifted.” — GRIGWARE TALK THEATRE CRITIC’S PICK, 5 out of 5 Stars.

THE ALL FEMALE 1929 SKIDOO REVIEW performs at the Actors Forum Theatre, 10655 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood, until April 13th. Show times are Friday and Saturday nights @ 8:00 PM, and Sunday matinees @ 3:00 PM.. New Thai Massage DVD Shows Therapeutic Approach for Pain Conditions

Evanston, IL (PRWEB) October 7, 2008

Billions are spent annually on the treatment of pain but often with unsatisfactory results. In his latest instructional DVD, internationally recognized Thai massage teacher Chuck Duff emphasizes the fact that many pain issues are a result of physical and energetic imbalances within the body, and that traditional Thai Massage remains one of our most powerful tools in the treatment of pain and dysfunction. A complete, 2.5 hour therapeutic Thai massage sequence is taught in this beautifully produced title, Therapeutic Thai Fundamentals with Chuck Duff (138 minutes, $ 49.95 SRP).

http://www.thaimassageschool.net/thai-massage-video.php Each technique is explained carefully, and supported with closeups and animations showing the energy lines and points used. This DVD is useful as a learning aid on its own, and is an adjunct to the Level 2 Thai Massage training at Chuck’s School, ThaiBodywork School of Thai Massage in Evanston, IL.

Chuck’s teaching emphasizes body mechanics, using core energy and sensitivity to the body’s language, and places each technique in context as to its relationship to Sen lines, effects on specific muscles and pain conditions. The beautiful production values in this exquisitely produced DVD bring Chuck Duff’s expert therapeutic insights to life.

While Thai yoga massage has been in existence for hundreds of years, its therapeutic application has been somewhat opaque to the student, due to a lack of written materials and a tradition of oral teachings. Also, due to the fact that Thailand has no tradition of research in anatomy or dissection, only recently have schools begun to teach Thai techniques in terms of Western anatomy. Chuck integrates western anatomy and clinical principles into his teaching of Thai massage, making it easier for students to relate the techniques to western approaches.

Chuck Duff is on the faculty of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and founded Thai Bodywork School in Evanston, IL in 2001. Chuck, who has taught over 1,000 practitioners, has based his career on the treatment of pain and has systematically studied the relationship of ancient Thai techniques to western clinical approaches.

Chuck created Clinical Thai Bodywork as an outgrowth of his own very successful practice and research. CTB(tm) combines the techniques of Traditional Thai yoga with the insights of myofascial trigger point therapy, osteopathic principles and acupoints, and is a highly effective treatment for pain and dysfunction.

Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton is a regular recipient of CTB treatments from Julie Pluss, a practitioner in Highland Park, IL. “I really enjoy the broad, strong pressure that Julie can provide by using her feet, knees and elbows in combination with the deep stretches during our sessions. I consider it a key part of staying healthy and flexible and playing at my peak.”

According to Chuck Duff, “Thai practitioners over hundreds of years developed clinically effective techniques that mirror some of the western body therapies in use today, such as trigger point therapy. Much of this work has remained obscure because it has been difficult to relate it to western ideas, due to its unique energetic model. CTB uses Thai techniques, presented in a clinical framework, to address myofascial dysfunction, which is responsible for many of the pain symptoms that create such problems and expense in our modern society.”

Tina Mann is an orthotist/prosthetist who works therapeutically with Rob Murray, a CTB practitioner in Orlando, FL. “I suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury seven and a half years ago. I have spent countless hours in physical therapy battling muscle weakness, muscle tightness, and joint problems. I often left PT feeling like I had done little to actually fix the problem. Soon after I began seeing Rob, I noticed right away that my muscles were looser and less sore. Later that night I noticed an increase in energy and an overall improvement in my mood. I have less hip internal rotation, my pain is much improved, and my energy is continuing to increase. My colleagues are commenting on how much better I am walking. I stopped PT after starting Thai massage, and have not returned to the doctor.”

Filmed in his Evanston, IL, teaching studio, the beautifully produced DVD integrates Duff’s knowledge of yoga, martial arts and therapeutic bodywork, presenting over 2 hours of treatment techniques. Viewers will learn how to:

Little League World Series Concessionaire Delaware North Companies Sportservice Helping Non-Profit Organizations in Need of a Fundraising Boost

Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) August 21, 2009

Hundreds of volunteers from non-profit organizations located in Williamsport and Lycoming County, Penn., will play a role in helping Delaware North Companies Sportservice feed an anticipated 300,000 fans at the 2009 Little League World Series this week.

Sportservice, the official food service provider for the Little League World Series, has long allowed non-profit groups to staff concession stands giving them a share of the concession revenue. This year, nearly a dozen groups will be working for their causes, the largest number since Sportservice began operating the event in 2001.

“We know how important this program is to community groups in Williamsport, especially in a tough economy,” Sportservice President Rick Abramson said. “It’s exciting to see how the entire Williamsport area supports this event and comes together to make it happen. We’re happy that Sportservice can give something back to the community.”

Since 2001, Sportservice had given more than $ 250,000 to the Williamsport community through this program.

In 2008, Sportservice donated more than $ 52,000 to Williamsport-area non-profits that helped staff the event. Benefiting groups included the Lycoming Arts Council, Meadowbrook Christian School, Children of the World and LKW Dance Team Parent Association. This year, new groups include the Teacher Fellowship, Watsontown Christian Academy, Labelle Valley Lodge #232 and the Selinsgrove Football Boosters Club.

“A wide variety of groups get involved and it’s great to have new organizations interested in helping,” said Abramson. “That’s why this program was developed: to help make a difference in the communities where we operate.”

The program isn’t just finding success in Williamsport. Sportservice has relationships with non-profit organizations in essentially every city in which it operates. Sportservice provides food, beverage and/or retail services for such teams as MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers, NHL’s Boston Bruins, the NFL’s Chicago Bears and several other major and minor league sports teams. In total, Sportservice operates at more than 50 major U.S. sports and entertainment complexes.

Sportservice contributed $ 13 million last year to communities across the country through its concessions program. This July, Sportservice helped Busch Stadium in St. Louis host the 2009 MLB All-Star Game. Over four days, the company relied on several hundred volunteers from St. Louis-area charities to staff both concession and retail stands. Sportservice was able to donate more than $ 80,000 to the St. Louis community as a result.

“Every one of our operating units has a story like this and it makes me proud,” said Abramson.

New value offerings at Little League World Series.

Sportservice will continue to introduce value- and family-priced offerings at the Little League World Series this year through a pizza value pack that consists of a 16-inch pizza and four 32-ounce drinks for $ 25. This value pack is similar to other bundled meals Sportservice is offering at major and minor league ballparks this year.

Other new items include David’s sunflower seeds and unshelled peanuts. Thirsty fans will also have the option of purchasing a new Howard J. Lamade Stadium souvenir cup filled with soda.

These items join traditional ballpark favorites such as hamburgers, Pennsylvania’s favorite Krunzel’s hot dogs, fries, chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders, all sold at family-friendly prices. Sportservice will also continue to serve Montgomery Inn pulled-pork sandwiches, Red Osier roast beef sandwiches, Carly’s Italian Ice, and various ice cream products, snacks and sports drinks.

Sportservice Executive Chef Joe Ditri of Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio will oversee all culinary operations at the event. Last year, record crowds attended the Little League World Series and similar attendance numbers are expected this year.

Delaware North Companies Sportservice is the official food service provider for the Little League World Series. The company became the first contract food service provider for the event when it won the contract in 2001. The 2009 Little League World Series will take place from Friday, Aug. 21, to Sunday, Aug. 30.

Chargers? Shaun Phillips and After-School All-Stars Recruit More Players to Expand After-School Sponsorship Program

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 4, 2010

Professional football players across the country have joined San Diego Chargers? linebacker Shaun Phillips in supporting After-School All-Stars, the leading national provider of high quality and comprehensive after-school programs, with the ?Touchdown vs. Shutdown? sponsorship program.

Formerly known as ?SP?s All-Star Sack Attack,? the program launched in 2007 when Shaun Phillips pledged to donate $ 1,000 to After-School All-Stars for every tackle or ?sack? he recorded. Finishing with seven sacks in the 2009 season, Phillips personally contributed $ 7,000 while local companies including The UPS Store and Scott and Cronin LLP matched the donation for a total contribution of $ 28,000.

The program has expanded its fourth season to include players on both sides of the field. In addition to defensive football players, offensive players joined the cause as part of ?Team Touchdown,? who will pledge donations based on yards or touchdowns, while defensive players on ?Team Shutdown? pledge based on sacks or tackles. This year, the roster includes Phillips? teammates Stephen Cooper, Antoine Cason and Legedu Naanee, in addition to Matt Forte of the Chicago Bears, Wes Welker of the New England Patriots, Brandon Graham of the Philadelphia Eagles and more. Corporate sponsors are encouraged to match donations, while individuals can donate smaller amounts at http://tdsd.stayclassy.org.

?Football encouraged me to be successful in the pursuit of higher education, and I hope to give youth the inspiration and means to follow their dreams too,? said Shaun Phillips. ?Now with more players joining, we can tie our success on and off the field to something much bigger; I?m excited to expand this opportunity to share our victories with more students across the country.?

?Shaun?s support has helped San Diego After-School All-Stars expand its sports and educational programming considerably,? said Tyree Dillingham, Executive Director of After-School All-Stars San Diego. ?His involvement, along with other professional athletes, provides a great model to encourage our students to live up to their potential with confidence they will have the support to get there.?

About Shaun Phillips

Charisma and charm are expected in receivers and running backs. Philanthropy and diplomacy is the domain of the quarterback. But Shaun Phillips is proof that all these qualities can exist in one hard-hitting linebacker. Entering his seventh NFL season, linebacker Shaun Phillips has established himself as one of those confident yet understated work horses. He does his job effortlessly, while opponents study him nervously across the line of scrimmage. He seamlessly stepped into his role with the San Diego Chargers and made an immediate impact with 11.5 sacks, the second most by any lineman in the league. No doubt, this “secret” NFL talent is becoming a household name and in 2009 he was able to prove that with 59 tackles and 7 sacks. Phillips was selected by San Diego in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft and described as a “steal” by the Chargers front office. He finished his collegiate career as Purdue’s all-time leader in sacks with 33.5, and was named a second-team All- American his senior year. He has unquestionably exceeded the expectations that usually accompany a fourth-round draft pick. Phillips is a stellar pass rusher with explosive reaction and an incredible knack for harassing the quarterback. But he is not content to leave his accomplishments where they stand, and he continually strives to improve himself both on and off the field. He enjoys directly communicating with fans in social networks and has an active presence on Twitter with more than 359,000 dedicated followers.
