Jr. Kicker at Torrey Pines High School Commits to Boston College

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2006

Billy Bennett, a junior high school student at Torrey Pines in Del Mar, California is considered one of the best kickers in the country due to his incredible power on his kickoffs and the tremendous height on his kicks. He has received several football scholarships from various colleges. A short list of the colleges that sought to recruit Bennet include: Arizona State, the University of Texas at El Paso, Kansas State, and San Diego State University. After much consideration, Bennett decided on Boston College and gave a solid verbal commitment to the college on March 15th, 2006.

The 6?2 190-pounder selected Boston College for its programs, their welcoming recruiter, and the way the school was portrayed. It?s no wonder Bennett wanted to attend the private college founded in 1863 since the schools team, the Eagles, have confronted ?some of the toughest teams in the country? and more than 200 of their players have moved on to play professional football. (http://bceagles.collegesports.com/sponsorship/bc-sponsorship.html#bc)

Bennett started playing football with friends in the 8th grade and joined the school?s team in his freshman year. His stats are quite impressive: Bennett was named second team all-CIF after making six field goals with a long of fifty-one yards. He also sent eighty-six percent of his kickoffs for touchbacks and made forty-one extra points as a junior.

Bennett?s personal coach, John Matich, owner of the Kicking System, helped with the recruiting process by putting in a good word about his all-star student. Coach Matich even traveled from his hometown of San Diego to Boston College with Bennett and his family to check out Boston College. The timing of the trip couldn?t have been better; they all got to watch the Boston College Eagles play North Carolina State University?s Wolfpack. And what a great game that game was on November 12th in 2005; the Eagles won 30 to 10. Coach Matich, who graduated from Boston College and played with the Vikings, introduced the players and coaches to Bennett so he?ll have a smoother transition when he moves to a new area and a new school.

To let Bennett have a taste of what it would be like to practice with another player who already plays professional football, Coach Matich coordinated a training session in San Diego with Billy Cundiff, a four-year NFL kicker previously with the Dallas Cowboys and currently with the Green Bay Packers. Bennett had an impressive kicking day and surprised Cundiff with his consistency and overall power. Coach Matich plans on training them together this summer again.

Coach Matich said, ?I have never seen a high school kicker with his consistency and power altogether. He averages over 4.2 seconds on his kickoffs consistently.? Bennett?s coach helped refine his technique, worked on consistent starting spots on field goals, improved his follow-through, and furthered his momentum downfield. When asked how Coach Matich helped Bennett, the young future superstar said, ?He developed me into the player I am today.? He gave me ?pointers? and a ?ton of help.? Bennett hopes to join the NFL today and Coach Matich will be rooting for him, along with the rest of his fans.

The Camel Wars — Centuries ago, a war was fought that left tens of thousands dead in the desert sands of Basra (Iraq). The divisions that war created then exist even now, and are still claiming thousands of lives as the war in Iraq rages on. How are we to understand the complexities of what people are going through, whether they are civilian or military? Can we look through the eyes of one man and get a glimpse of the truth on the ground in Iraq?

This is a story of Sameer “Sam” Azeez, an Iraqi Sunni American soldier, who is sent to Iraq in 2004. He is naively patriotic, and determined to both serve his country and prevent any further American atrocities from occurring. Sam’s experiences in Iraq give him a unique perspective of the ground truth as he struggles with the racist hatred of one of his own soldiers and the mistrust of a Shiite family he has befriended, until one day the two collide and he has to choose between the soldier and the last surviving son of the Shiite family. Just as he has so often had to choose between his conscience and his religion, now he has to choose between his conscience and his country.

Maybe Sam’s story will help us understand what is really at stake. Maybe.

HighPoint Patient Services of Arlington to Give Free Body Composition Scans Using GE’s Lunar iDXA? System : Total Body Scans Offered to Tarrant County, Texas Residents Each Saturday During Oct. 2008 Pinpoint Metabolic Status along with Amounts of Fat, Lean and Bone Tissue

ARLINGTON, Texas (PRWEB) October 9, 2008

According to HealthyAmericans.org, Texas is the 12th fattest state in the U.S. with 64.1 percent of adults categorized as overweight or obese. According to the State Comptroller’s office, obesity cost Texas businesses $ 3.3 billion in 2005.

With rising healthcare costs and insurance premiums, Texas businesses are bearing the brunt of this unhealthy epidemic.

HighPoint Patient Services owns the only GE Lunar iDXATM in Tarrant County. iDXA, which stands for Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry, is considered by clinicians to be exceptionally accurate at measuring body composition because it shows exactly where fat, lean and bone tissue is located.

“Physicians and patients can monitor weight-loss with pinpoint accuracy using HighPoint Patient Services’ Lunar iDXA,” said Dr. Johann Van Beest, chiropractor and CEO of HighPoint Patient Services. “This becomes an important piece of the overall health puzzle because of the data provided. It can assist those who are struggling with obesity, anorexia nervosa, wasting syndrome caused by HIV/AIDS, cystic fibrosis, chronic renal failure, and even help athletes make training regimen decisions to achieve best performance.”

In a survey of Texas companies, employers reported obesity-related medical conditions as a major factor in the average 27 percent increase in healthcare costs in 2006. The most prevalent medical conditions reported were coronary heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and gastrointestinal disorders. Most of these are directly or indirectly related to obesity.

Additionally, virtually all companies responding to the survey listed increased healthcare costs, lost productivity and increased absenteeism as effects of obesity. No one really knows the cost of these effects on business’s bottom-line. In response, many employers offer employees incentives to participate in health and wellness programs.

Although approved by the FDA in 2005, the Lunar iDXA has only been on the market for about two years. Most physicians don’t yet have access to the GE Lunar iDXATM system due to its cost. It is currently being used by NFL teams like the Green Bay Packers and has been used on the popular television show, “The Biggest Loser.”

The Lunar iDXATM was installed at HighPoint Patient Services this May to analyze lean mass, fat mass and bone density of patients.

HighPoint Patient Services is showing its support of healthy lifestyles and assisting with clinical diagnosis by offering free total body scans on the iDXA throughout the month of October.

Although this procedure is not yet reimbursable by medical insurance, many patients concerned about fitness and weight-loss are willing to pay for the $ 149 test to receive percentages of lean and fat body mass with pinpoint accuracy.

Those interested in a free total body scan should contact Bernadette Smith of HighPoint Patient Services at (817) 417-8782 to schedule their 20-minute appointment.

Baycom Finalizes Acquisition of TheGlobalNet Broadband Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) Business

Green Bay, Wisconsin (PRWEB) October 16, 2008 ?

Baycom Broadband, (http://www.baycombroadband.com) a leading provider of wireless communications solutions, announced today that the company has completed the acquisition of TheGlobalNet, a wireless internet service provider (WISP) in Northeast Wisconsin.

The acquisition expands the Baycom Broadband Network to reach into an additional three counties and over 400 square miles of coverage throughout rural Wisconsin.

?Our goal is simple; provide the most reliable high-speed wireless internet service available and give our customers the greatest, world-class support,? said Baycom President, Steve Elias. ?This acquisition helps expand our service network with the potential to reach over 600,000 residents and businesses throughout the state.?

Although high-speed internet is common in metro areas, many suburban and rural communities are still limited to slower dial-up connections. The Baycom service has created new opportunities for under-served rural communities and businesses to stay connected.

“We wanted to make sure that the people of Maribel have access to services that make their lives better,” stated Donna Duckart, Maribel, Wisconsin Village Clerk. “That’s why we selected Baycom Broadband to provide high-speed internet service for our village government and our residents.”

?At Royal Scot Golf Club, we?re always looking for ways to improve the experience of our customers,? said Marcus Rand of Royal Scot Golf Club in New Franken, Wisconsin. ?By providing Baycom high-speed wireless internet, we can improve our operations and let our customers work and play at the same time.?

With over 50 years experience serving Wisconsin?s government, business and residential customers, Baycom has built a strong reputation for Total Customer Satisfaction.

One customer had this to say about their recent Baycom service experience. ?The experience I had with every member of the Baycom staff was stellar,? said Wisconsin resident Angie Durkee. ?Because of my work schedule, I wasn?t able to be home during normal office hours and I couldn?t believe that a company would work around my schedule; Baycom has really taken the ?customer is always right? mantra to heart.?

In addition to investing in a great customer service team, Baycom has been aggressively growing their network to provide innovative broadband services to Wisconsin residents. In the past 18 months, the company has added over 20 new antenna sites and tower locations and they have installed a commercial-grade wireless backbone powered by Motorola Canopy technology

?The vision for our wireless network goes well beyond the high-speed internet we offer today,? explained Rich Haslitt Baycom?s Director of Broadband Services and Network Architect. ?We can now offer customers a wide variety of innovative wireless solutions such as business internet backup, Voice over IP (VOIP) and wireless video security and monitoring solutions. Imagine your garage door sending you an email because it was left open too long or a wireless camera sending you pictures of your property while you are on vacation?it?s all possible with the Baycom Broadband network.?

“We rely on Baycom’s high-speed internet service every day to power our business web site and email for all our truck sales,” said Norb Zitzelsberger, President of Norb’s Truck Sales. “The service has been flawless and really helps us operate efficiently.”

TTM Technologies Reaches Employees on All Five Shifts with StrandVision Digital Signage

Chippewa Falls, Wisc. (PRWEB) May 1, 2009

TTM Technologies is meeting the challenge of keeping employees informed around the clock with a digital signage system from StrandVision LLC of Menomonie, Wis.

TTM, which manufactures printed circuit boards for computers and networks, as well as for medical, aerospace and defense, sought to effectively reach all of its 1,200 employees on five shifts regarding company activities such as customer visits, employee activities and recognition, production/quality metrics, safety information, energy usage, on-site medical clinic updates and credit union special offers.

Company staff turned to StrandVision for its Internet-based system that delivers constantly refreshed digital signage pages to television displays. TTM staff installed 50″ plasma television screens in the two largest cafeterias at the Chippewa Falls plant. Now, employees on break can catch up with company news. They also have access to constantly updated local and national news and weather, including animated Doppler radar, as well as the latest on the Green Bay Packers.

TTM is also using an innovative StrandVision “Estimator” page that automatically estimates values over time (world populations counter, for instance). TTM uses the utility to constantly update energy usage estimates for employees in order to encourage conservation. The Estimator page is part of the normal digital signage rotation.

TTM-sourced information, including both text and graphics, is updated by Senior Administrative Assistant Brandi Hunt with information that she receives from several departments. She visits the StrandVision Web site to insert the new information into the StrandVision page mix.

Featured items include employee photos from the annual golf outing, the United Way Campaign and Chippewa Falls community events over the holidays. The company’s credit union, Quorum, also advertises on the signage.

“StrandVision had what we wanted, they were easy to work with and we were happy to do business with a local company,” said Hunt. “Employees really enjoy knowing what’s going on. They like seeing people being recognized for their anniversaries and accomplishments. The signage also helps us announce the dates for customer visits and benefit/insurance deadlines, so everyone is better informed.”

“TTM can more effectively communicate with first, second, third, and weekend shift employees to ensure that they all have access to the same information no matter when or where they work,” commented StrandVision Founder and CEO Mike Strand. Once they realized StrandVision’s potential to reach all employees, they asked us for the Estimator capability. Knowing the importance of energy conservation, we developed it and it is now available to all of our customers for free. TTM is making excellent use of StrandVision digital signage technology.”
