American Airlines will be Flying High During the NBA Finals From its Branding Exposure in Dallas & Miami

PHILADELPHIA, PA (PRWEB) June 8, 2006 ?-

As the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks get ready to take the court on Thursday in ?Big D?, American Airlines can prepare to lift off from its brand exposure during the 2006 NBA Finals.

According to ROI projection analysis conducted by Front Row Marketing Services, a naming rights marketing and sponsorship research firm, American Airlines is expected to receive $ 9 million in branding exposure from each televised NBA Finals game broadcast from the American Airlines Arena and the American Airlines Center.

Based on the $ 400,000 cost of a 30-second commercial spot during ABC?s broadcast of the NBA Finals, it is projected that American Airlines will receive an estimated 11 minutes and 15 seconds of in-broadcast exposure during each games? broadcast, American Airlines would net $ 9 million in broadcast media value from in-arena signage, on-screen graphics and verbal mentions.

?This is a very unique match-up for Naming Rights, as of right now, this could not happen in any of the four major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL) during their respective Finals, where a Naming Rights partner would receive all of the venue name branding exposure.? said Eric Smallwood, VP of Marketing and Research for Front Row Marketing Services ?I would expect that the American Airlines head office is hoping for a seven game series, which could garner over $ 63 million of branding value. Corporations should take notice at the value that they could receive from corporate naming rights.?

Published sources have reported the total cost of the ‘Naming’ Rights for American Airlines Center (Dallas, TX) at $ 195 million over 30 years (signed in 2000), and the American Airlines Arena (Miami, FL) at $ 42 million over 20 years (signed in 1999).

TD Banknorth Garden- Boston Celtics (NBA) & Boston Bruins (NHL)

TD Waterhouse Centre ? Orland Magic (NBA)

Potential Highest Profile Series? NBA Eastern Conference Finals

Staples Center ? Los Angeles Lakers & Los Angeles Clippers

Todd Lokken From Strategic Fantasy Sports Identifies The Most Dropped and Picked Up Free Agents for Week 4 of the NFL Season

Taunton, MA (PRWEB) October 7, 2006

Detroit Lions WR Mike Furrey, who went undrafted in almost every fantasy football league, is all of a sudden a hot commodity after a big week against the St. Louis Rams. The Lions receiver has been in the background the last few years, as the Lions loaded up on first round WR picks. However, it looks like Furrey may be the most productive acquisition. He has established himself as the number 2 receiver in the Detroit offense, and should get plenty of balls thrown his way, especially if the Lions are playing catch up. The downside of acquiring Furrey this week is playing against the Vikings in Minneapolis. ?The Vikings seem to have the Lions number every year, especially in Minnesota,? says Todd Lokken, President of Strategic Fantasy Sports. Lokken continues, ?Against most teams, Furrey would be a decent fantasy start. However, the Vikings usually play pretty well at home.? After the Vikings, the schedule doesn?t get any better, as the Lions take on Buffalo at home. The Bills are improved this year, so fantasy owners can only hope for a Bills blowout, and points for Furrey in catch-up time.

The next hot commodity is Washington Redskin QB Mark Brunell. ?It?s amazing how a good game against a tough defense will change the view of veteran players?, says Lokken. ?The only question is whether or not Brunell can last the season, as he has had a number of injuries throughout his career.? According to the CBS Sportsline, Brunell held an active roster spot in less than 50% of all fantasy football leagues before last week. Lokken says, ?if players take a look now, they will see Brunell has an active spot on approximately 70% of all league rosters, so grab him if you need a QB.?

On the flip side, poor play is former fantasy stars, and team owners are making adjustments accordingly. The most prominent star losing a roster spot is Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, after a sorry performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Warner just couldn?t seem to hold onto the ball, and has now lost his job to rookie Matt Leinart. Lokken says, ?Unless Leinart gets hurt, Warner will probably be on the bench the rest of the year. The Cardinals are building for future years, and Leinart needs playing time to learn the NFL game.? Lokken continues, ?it?s not worth him taking up a roster spot, and you should dump him immediately.? In most leagues, there still should be a starting QB or two to help you out.

Finally this week, Lokken gives us another disappointment: Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper. The veteran has struggled all year, and when it looked like a dream matchup was in place, he had a poor outing against the lowly Houston Texans. The whispers across the league say that Culpepper just isn?t fully healthy, and Lokken points out, ?Culpepper blew out his knee in October of 2005. He just may not be completely healthy to play, as he looks nothing like the fantasy stud of a few years ago.? The guess here is that barring another major injury, Culpepper will get better as the year progresses, but fantasy players may not have time to wait. ?Every game is very important to win, and you just can?t wait for players to perform,? advises Lokken. ?The best advice is to grab a better QB now, and get production into your offense.?

2006 NFL Football Draft Picks have been Disappointing as We Hit the Midway Mark of the NFL Football Season and SportsWager.com has Taken Notice

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 10, 2006

The players at SportsWager.com have noticed that #1 2006 NFL football draft pick Mario Williams who went to the Houston Texans in a bonehead draft decision by the Texans has been pretty much a bust. He has 4.5 sacks at the midway point but that is not worthy of the first pick in the draft. The Texans were a longshot to win the Super Bowl before the season and have no chance now. #2 pick Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints hasn’t been much better. Many people thought Bush was a certain Hall of Famer but he has not been used extensively by the Saints. He has been more of a decoy and a pass receiver than a runner. Whether or not his talents will shine in the second half of the season or in future seasons remains to be seen. We do know that just one touchdown is not going to cut if for the #2 pick in the 2006 NFL football draft. The Saints were also a longshot before the season to win the Super Bowl but they have been one of the surprise teams in the NFL this year. They are a 4 point road underdog at SportsWager.com against the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

The #3 pick in the 2006 NFL football draft was Vince Young and he has had his ups and downs in his first season at quarterback with Tennessee. It is tough for a rookie quarterback and the jury is still out on Young. The same jury is still out on #10 pick Matt Leinart who has taken over the quarterback job in Arizona. Leinart started strong but has struggled lately. Rookie quarterbacks always have it tough and that is definitely the case for Young and Leinart.

D’Brickashaw Ferguson of the Jets was the 4th pick of the draft and has performed well and played in every game, as has #5 pick A.J. Hawk of the Green Bay Packers. #6 pick Vernon Davis has only played in three games so the verdict is still out on him, although he was expected to be an impact player. #7 pick Michael Huff of the Raiders has shown signs of being a very good player but it is hard to showcase your skills on a terrible team. #8 pick Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills has performed quite well. The Bills were ripped for taking Whitner so high in the draft but he has played extremely well at safety for them. The #9 pick Ernie Sims of the Lions has played well at starting linebacker and could turn into a good pick for the Lions. That would be a huge surprise considering the front office of Detroit hasn’t done anything intelligent in years.

Most of the other 2006 NFL football draft picks have made minimal impacts but we want to mention two running backs. The 21st pick, Laurence Maroney from Minnesota, who went to the Patriots already has over 1,000 all purpose yards for New England and has looked like an excellent late first round pick. The same thing can be said of Joseph Addai, the Colts pick at #30 who has taken over the starting running back job and leads all NFL rookies in rushing.

Last year’s #1 pick Alex Smith is playing better for San Francisco but still is a below average NFL quarterback. One of the better players from the 2005 draft has been Carnell Williams. The “Cadillac” has been a key player for the Bucs and when healthy has proven to be an excellent NFL running back.

The British Invasion Hits the DJ World American Idol style

Cocoa Beach, FL (PRWEB) December 26, 2008

Academy DJs, Inc the nation’s largest Disc Jockey company announces the American DJ Idol Contest. The owner Richard Barker who came originally from London, England is known already as the Simon Cowell of DJs in the entertainment world.

Mr Barker announced recently that he will be organizing a new DJ talent Idol drive to be taken on the road across America in 2009. More details on page http://www.academydjs.com/american-dj-idol-wedding.cfm . He said ” I will be recruiting DJs (to add our already large membership of DJs) in all towns and cities and I will promote and organize an American DJ Idol Contest.” The contest will have three expert judges including Richard Barker to identify wedding DJs and party DJs. Richard stated “I want the best disc jockeys in the land to create American DJ Idol and as the owner of Academy Djs I will also step in as the role one of lead judges.”

Academy DJs are a DJ company used by Royal Caribbean and NFL teams including the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans. Recently Academy DJs were used for all of the Le Petit La Mons touring race track events where the job of Academy DJs were to drive race fans in to sponsors hospitality suites. Clearly the role of an Academy DJ is a prestigious one but also the local recognition of the contestants will be a major plus.

Mr Barker who is currently a resident of Cocoa Beach, Florida also owns a local Cocoa Beach DJs company said “It is easy to find talented DJs in Cocoa Beach but much harder with Academy DJs operating nationally. We have the chance to audition and really test out the DJs in every major city. The DJs have no easy ride into Academy DJs and they will be put through their paces” He said “It must be the way we do things in England but I am a believer in telling someone straight away if they lack talent or not, if it offends you then don’t put yourself through the contest to begin with.”

An American DJ Idol project and talent search for DJs in America has never been done before in this country. Richard Barker also said ” The status of a DJ in the eyes of millions of people is very high. Most kids these days idolize DJs and at some point in their life have wanted to be the cool disc jockey spinning tunes” He said ” DJs are part of the fabric and back bone of American music and events. Without the radio airplay or the local DJs playing your song to the crowd it is very difficult to make it as a band or singer in the music industry. I want to fill this gap and give all DJs and wannabe DJs the chance to rise to the top just like you can with American Idol. Not only will the very best have the offer to join Academy DJs but we will also give the best DJs chance to record mixes in a studio at our expense for commercial production.

We will provide DJs who win their city or region work and employment as well as a featured profile on the Academy DJs website in their home town. For example the winner of Orlando, Florida will get a preferred wedding DJ in Orlando Florida position vistit http://www.academydjs.com/florida-wedding-djs/orlando-wedding-dj.cfm on our website to see an example of a page that would rank very high on the search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. What will happen to the DJs that don’t make it? “Well I guess there is always next year, or getting a regular job instead”

The announcements of the dates and locations of the American DJ Idol are being made at the Academy DJs, Inc web site American DJ Idol press page.

Coach Zauner Builds A ‘Field Of Dreams For Kicking Specialists’

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 17, 2009

The 1st Annual Coach Zauner Free Agent Specialists Combine was considered a success by both the teams and specialists attending. In all, 32 teams — 26 National Football League (NFL), 2 Canadian League Football (CFL), and 4 United Football League (UFL) teams — traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, on April 6, to evaluate 41 highly regarded kicking specialists.

Coach Zauner, a former 13 year NFL Special Teams Coordinator, who is considered by many to be the best kicking coach in the country, says he has always wanted to create an event that would assist professional football teams in finding the best kicking specialists talent available and would provide specialists with the opportunity to be evaluated by a large assembly of teams.

“During my career as an NFL Special Teams Coordinator, it was my always my dream to build or create a Free Agent Specialists Combine which assembled and showcased elite kicking talent for the NFL, CFL and UFL coaches and Pro Personnel to evaluate,” said Zauner. “This was my first attempt, and I believe I put together a solid group of coaches and specialists for this Combine.” He adds the early feedback from both coaches and specialists is quite positive.

Jim Fassel, former New York Giants Head Coach and current Head Coach of the newly formed UFL’s Las Vegas team said, “Recently my UFL staff attended Coach Zauner’s Free Agent Specialists Combine in Phoenix, Arizona. We have participated in many Free Agent Combines throughout the years searching for football talent and all agreed this was the best run Combine any of us have attended. This was a high energy event as there was no sitting around or waiting to evaluate the 41 specialists participating. The field of talent was handpicked and of the highest caliber.” Fassel added, “this is ‘the’ Kicking Combine to attend if you’re a professional football team or aspiring kicking specialist.”

Bobby DePaul, Senior Director of Pro Personnel for the Chicago Bears agreed with Fassel’s assessment and said, “This was the best run Free Agent Combine I have participated in during my 21 years working as a coach or scout in the NFL. This effort clearly demonstrated that Coach Zauner has the knowledge needed to run an efficient Combine and effectively evaluate specialists. This was a job well done and I am looking forward to an expanded field of specialists next year.”

And Joe Marciano, Special Teams Coordinator for the Houston Texans, who at the 2008 NFL Combine, encouraged Coach Zauner to undertake this year’s event, said “Zauner knows what it takes to find great kicking specialist talent.” Adding this was apparent in his first Free Agent Combine. “Coach Zauner has coached in the NFL as a Special Teams Coordinator for 13 years. He’s coached or trained 19 Pro Bowl kickers and punters throughout his career. Also during his NFL coaching career, he’s competed against the ‘best of the best’. Zauner knows the standards that NFL Special Teams Coaches want and need of their kicking specialist’s. His Combine was run extremely efficiently for the coaches, Pro Personnel and players. I believe if you’re an NFL Special Teams Coach, Director of Personnel or kicking specialist, Coach Zauner’s Combine is ‘the’ event to attend.”

Organizing this Free Agent Combine event took quite a bit of time and effort over a period of a few months, said Zauner, but he felt it was a great investment. “I believe the work was worth it for the teams, the kicking specialists and me. I add myself to this list because it has been a dream of mine to create an event like this, which showcases — to the professional football teams — some of the best kicking specialist talent available.”

Even though those who attended thought the Free Agent Combine went quite well, Zauner says he gained some valuable insight from this first event. “Perhaps the biggest issue was the timing of the event,” said Zauner. “I scheduled this year’s event a little too close to the NFL Draft and therefore some of the few remaining NFL teams — that would have otherwise attended — could not.” Zauner says “he will not make that mistake again next year and is tentatively scheduling the event for late March, 2010.”

This year’s Free Agent Specialists Combine was held under sunny blue Arizona skies at the Paradise Valley High School (field turf) with the assistance of Head Coach Donnie Yantis.

In the 2008 Texas Bowl, the Rice Owls defeated the Western Michigan Broncos 38?14. Sexual Assault & Athletes — All He Had to Do Was Ask – Where Is The Outrage?

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) January 12, 2004

Sexual Assault & Athletes — All He Had to Do Was Ask – Where Is The Outrage?

A statement last week by the spokesman of a County attorney’s office in Phoenix is one of the most devastating setbacks to all sexual assault education and awareness efforts across this country. When charges are not pressed against a person, we usually hear the district attorney’s office say, “We did not find enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges.” In this case, the County Attorney’s office chose not to make that statement. Instead, the office was quoted as saying, “. . . he could not have known the 22-year-old woman who accused him did not consent.” When did ignorance of the law free you of guilt?

Since this allegation involved a high profile athlete, much of the national media reported this story. By hearing this one sentence from a prosecution office, men and women across the country could be incorrectly lead to believe: if you don’t know you are sexually assaulting someone, you won’t be charged with a crime.

Mike Domitrz, renowned national expert on sexual assault awareness states, “The exposure resulting from recent high profile athletes being accused of sexual assault is distorting our country’s view of sexual assault and rape. Is it the average athlete’s fault? No. Sexual assault is occurring between people of all lifestyles and backgrounds. Our society simply focuses on the high profile athlete because they are considered ‘newsworthy’. The distortion of the issue occurs when people jump to conclusions from statements that result from these news stories.”

If no criminal charges are pressed in a sexual assault allegation, we often hear people say, “She must have made it up”. The truth is that charges not being pressed can simply mean the prosecutor didn’t think he/she could win the case (regardless of guilt). False reports of sexual assaults are extremely rare. A close look reveals that only 10% – 16% of sexual assaults are ever reported. Of that 10% – 16%, less than 5% are considered false reports. Take the highest of those numbers and you get 5% of 16% — a total of less than 1% of all sexual assaults.

Then why is there an image that sexual assaults are falsely reported more often than they are? “If you believe that a crime doesn’t happen very often, you feel safer ,” explains Domitrz. Each day, sexual assaults frequently happen in this country and across the world. Sexual assault is sexual contact “without consent” or that is “unwilling” (in most states, one of these definitions is accurate). The key word is consent. According to Domitrz, “As simple as this words seems, people rarely want to talk openly about consent. Why? People take it for granted. They think they can ‘read other people’s minds’ or know exactly what certain ‘body language’ means. The reality is that while most people want to believe they ‘know’ when they have consent, they are not 100% sure.”

“Except for physical assaults where the assailant is purposely intending to rape the victim, a simple solution can solve many potential misunderstandings before intimacy ever begins. Get consent. The person being the aggressor by beginning the sexual contact should ask for consent before engaging in the sexual contact,” stresses Domitrz. Traveling the country speaking in schools, communities, and on college campuses, he challenges students, parents, educators, and people of all ages to examine their own views on consent, dating behaviors and sexual assault. He clearly knows and shares that the only absolute way you can have consent to do anything in life is to ask. When you are a teenager and you want to borrow your parent’s car, what do you do? You ask. If you want to borrow twenty dollars from a friend, what do you do? You ask.

A car or money is replaceable. A human being is not. The violation of sexual assault is the most disturbing of all crimes in our society. Even so, some would say, “Asking would ruin the moment.” If asking ruins the moment, you didn’t have much of a “moment” to begin with. Others would say, “I can’t talk to someone about what we are going to do in bed.” Then, how can you say you are ready to engage in sexual intimacy with that person? If any person, man or woman, takes intimate actions toward another person’s body, that person must be held responsible for his or her own actions. When engaging in sexual contact with another person, each of us has the responsibility to get consent first.

So where is the outrage? Why isn’t anyone yelling, “Why didn’t he ask her?” For decades, many in the media have taken the approach of blaming the victim in sexual assault and rape cases. In the Kobe Bryant charges, reporters, sportswriters, and media professionals have been unfairly asking questions like, “Did she say no?”, “What did she do to stop it from happening?”, “What is her sexual past?”, and “How can we be sure she didn’t want it?” Domitrz challenges everyone to pose a simpler and more powerful question. Ask the accused, “Did you ask?”

Mike Domitrz is the author of “May I Kiss You? A Candid Look at Dating, Communication, Respect, & Sexual Assault Awareness” (Awareness Publications 2003). As a renowned expert on sexual assault awareness, he travels the country speaking in schools, communities, and on college campuses challenging students, parents, educators, and people of all ages to examine their own views on consent, dating behaviors, and sexual assault (http://www.mayikissyou.com). This past fall, Domitrz was brought in by the NFL’s Houston Texans to speak with their rookies.
