•18% of counterfeiters use false identification to avoid detection or perpetrate their crimes.

•21% of financial instruments counterfeited, such as checks and credit cards, also involve counterfeit identification.

•Counterfeiters which focus on producing identification profit the most from reproducing drivers licenses (29%), other government ID (25%), passports (16%), social security cards (13%), birth certificates (9%), death certificates, green cards, and visas (8%).

•The most common counterfeit methods are:

•Entertainment & Software, using CD and DVD burners and stamping equipment.

•Financial Instruments, using computers, printers, scanners, and encoder/decoders.

•Identification, using computers, laminating machines, scanners, and digital cameras.

Other interesting facts:

•China is cited as the most frequently used country (44% of the time) to manufacture counterfeit items and ship to other countries.

•35 Countries reported counterfeit activity in December (Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Botswana, Brunei, Canada, China, Cyprus, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Liberia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali, Malta, Nairobi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, UAE, Uganda, UK, USA and Vietnam).

•27 Entities suspected of involvement in counterfeit activity from 18 incidents were publicized. For more information: http://www.goldsec.com/Alleged_Counterfeit_Suspects_Entities.htm

•The current months counterfeit activity: http://www.goldsec.com/

In summarizing the months activity, Glen Gieschen, Managing Director of Gieschen Consultancy stated “In December, more than 32% of counterfeit incidents involved intellectual property theft (brands, trademarks, copyrights, patents) of which 10,029,829 items were seized. The amount of fake products that are confiscated each month, by customs and law enforcement agents, has increased more than 200% from November. This level of activity indicates an increased effort to remove these items, some dangerous to human health, from the marketplace. However, the amount of seizures also indicates that counterfeiters find this market highly profitable and intend on exploiting intellectual property to fund their criminal and terrorist organizations.

Another notable counterfeit scam that was uncovered in Malaysia and Canada, related to counterfeit financial instruments used as breeder documents for committing fraud. In particular, criminals are counterfeiting negotiable instruments, sometimes in fictitious denominations, likely for the purpose of using as an asset or collateral for obtaining loans or other assets.

December also provided insight into the lucrative trade and manufacturing of counterfeit identification which increased more than 60% from the previous month. Criminal organizations such as Shadowcrew.com are providing evidence of a massive need for counterfeit identification to protect the identities of criminals and terrorists and to perpetrate financial crimes such as credit and debit card fraud, along with numerous other schemes such as check fraud. This practice is becoming more popular as stiffer penalties are avoided when an individual is linked to a single crime vs. multiple crimes in various jurisdictions and countries. This is certainly one of the reasons why national identity cards and biometric passports are being proposed as one of many solutions to this problem. It is likely that entities involved in intellectual property theft will also catch on to this practice as penalties increase.”

The full report for November can be purchased from Gieschen Consultancy for $ 110 USD or $ 25 for DOPIP subscribers.

Rap Artist Delivers Powerful Message

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) December 19, 2005

A new kind of rap artist is emerging from Jacksonville, Florida, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the NFL Super Bowl 39. While most rappers use lyrics that glamorize this negative lifestyle, Shot Out is using his talent to deliver this message: If you work hard enough, you can overcome any obstacle in life.

This attitude is gaining him huge recognition in the entertainment industry. Shot Out has received two nominations for the 2006 Annual Southern Entertainment Awards: one for Best Performer of the Year and the other for his highly creative website, http://www.ShotOut.net. His song ?Beep Beep Beep? is climbing the Billboard Charts and his new album, Florida Star, promises to reach the same success upon its release in 2006.

NFL Gets Happy at Big Game Parties

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) February 15, 2005

Happy Vodka, Happy Rum, Happy Tequila and Happy Gin were featured at many NFL events during Super Bowl week in Jacksonville, Florida. The City of Jacksonville along with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce gave a bottle of Happy to each of the arriving VIP’s on the Mayor John Peytons guest list. The NFL Alumni served all four Happy products exclusively at their VIP Tour of homes, the NFL Coaches Association served Happy at their commencement party, and events such as the PGA press party, the Pure Rush Party and P-Diddy parties all had Happy flowing. Jacksonville Jaguar Players Fred Taylor and Marcus Straud booked a Celebrity VIP party at the Cruzan Island Bar, which exclusively featured Happy Vodka, Happy Tequila and Happy Gin while NFL Alumnus Eric Dickerson hosted a charity VIP party at the Jacksonville Landing, at which Happy Vodka was the exclusive VIP drink.

All these events pale in comparison to the thousands of celebrities and VIP’s at NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue’s party, held at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, which featured Happy Vodka, Happy Rum and Happy Gin. “We couldn’t believe the response that people had to the Happy products” says Keith Waller of RSVP Catering, who catered the open bars at the event “we poured 100% of the Happy Vodka in less than 2 hours, people chose Happy over Gray Goose, Smirnoff and Stoli!” In fact, Happy products had to be rushed out to several bars throughout the event because guests were requesting them even if they did not appear at the bar.

Reporters watched in awe and clicked away photos as the VIP guests stepped into their limousines at the end of the night, toting empty Happy bottles as keepsakes from the event. In a conversation with NFL event coordinators, C. J. Eiras, President of Happy Vodka Corporation said “This is no surprise to me…Happy always steals the show at big ticket events, we can’t wait until next year in Detriot!” The Emmy’s, the NBA All Star Party, the Silverlake, the Sundance and even Cannes Film Festival have all seen the overwhelming response to Happy, and there is more excitement to come for this little brand from Jacksonville Florida.

“Now if C. J. could just make enough product to expand the territories for the brand, I would really be Happy!” says Gray C. Solomon, managing member of Liquor Group, the company that handles distribution of Happy products throughout the world. “Customers are demanding the product, we just need more cases to sell and fill all the orders.” With large events such as the Big Game week in Jacksonville being so successful for the Happy brand, Eiras is going to be very busy making Happy products for a long time to come!

Todd Lokken from Strategic Fantasy Sports Identifies Most Dropped and Picked up Free Agents for Week 5 of NFL Season

(PRWEB) October 14, 2006

New York Jets RB Leon Washington, who went undrafted in almost every fantasy football league, is all of a sudden a hot commodity after a breakout week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jets running back has been a part of the ?running back by committee? approach in New York, and looks to have locked up the top spot. Washington rushed 23 times for 101 yards against a good Jacksonville defense, and according to Todd Lokken, President of Strategic Fantasy Sports, ?Washington should have a good three weeks, as he faces off against Miami, Detroit, and Cleveland?. The downside of acquiring Washington is he is a little banged up right now, but most reports say his injury is not serious. Says Lokken, ?It?s a thigh injury, but he is probable. He?ll be playing, and should be able get some good points this weekend.?

The next hot commodity is Arizona Cardinal WR Bryant Johnson. ?Once Larry Fitzgerald went down, owners quickly searched the waiver wires for the #3 receiver on the Cardinals?, says Lokken. ?If Johnson has not been picked up yet, grab him, as Arizona?s offense should get better as the season progresses. Kurt Warner is done, and Matt Leinart should continue to grow in the offense?, claims Lokken. The only thing that seems to be holding Johnson back is his ability to make the big play, something Fitzgerald does on a regular basis. However, he is in the spotlight now, so watch him to come through.

On the flip side, poor play is hurting former fantasy starters, and team owners are making adjustments accordingly. The most prominent star losing a roster spot this week is Daunte Culpepper of the Miami Dolphins. ?Owners started to give up on Culpepper last week?, says Lokken. ?After being benched this past weekend, Daunte may be sitting down for a while.? The advice here is to drop him, and Lokken continues, ?He hasn?t been a solid start for over a year, and obviously is still hurt. The mobility just isn?t there like it used to be, and he can?t get away from the defense.? If you are desperate, you can always try Joey Harrington, but Lokken says that ?Matt Leinart may be worth a look?.

Finally this week, Lokken gives us another disappointment: Green Bay RB Vernand Morency, who lost his spot as Ahman Green?s backup in Green Bay. Lokken advises, ?He fumbled twice in six carries, and that was enough for the Packers to sit him down?all fantasy players should do the same.? Morency was an unknown who grabbed the spotlight when Green went down, but he gave it back just as quickly when he couldn?t hold the ball. ?The guess here is that Morency is pretty much done as a fantasy player for this year?, says Lokken. ?Expect Ahman Green to come back soon, so there is no point in keeping Morency. If you can, try to get Leon Washington of the Jets.?

Strategic Fantasy Sports provides fantasy analysis and strategy for players of fantasy games. For more information, contact Todd Lokken at 847.985.8566, or visit http://www.toddlokken.com.

The “After-School Sack Attack” program was launched last season by San Diego Charger’s linebacker Shaun Phillips and kicks off the 2008 season with five defenders and counting.

Last year Phillips had 8.5 sacks and, with the help of matching business sponsors, raised $ 34,000 for after-school programs in San Diego. This season, the After-School Sack Attack has expanded to players from teams across the country and currently includes five players representing teams from Detroit, New Orleans, San Diego, San Francisco, and St. Louis. More information on the After-School Sack Attack is available at How Many Sacks

“When I was growing up in Philadelphia, after-school programs kept me busy and off the streets,” said Phillips. “After-School All-Stars’ programs provide a great outlet to keep urban youth safe and engaged during the ‘danger zone’ hours of 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. when they are most likely to get involved with unproductive, risky activities.”

Four additional players, La’Roi Glover (St. Louis Rams), Bobby McCray (New Orleans Saints), Dewayne White (Detroit Lions), and Manny Lawson (SF 49ers) have joined Phillips to bring a ton of defensive firepower to the program. Their combined 2-year average sack records would predict at least 30 sacks towards the program – and other defensive players are still encouraged to join the After-School Sack Attack.

Six-time Pro-Bowler and Defensive Tackle La’Roi Glover established his La’Roi Glover Foundation and has been helping kids in San Diego and St. Louis since 1999. Both Bobby McCray and Dewayne White are relatively new to their home cities of New Orleans and Detroit, respectively, and are excited to help kids in their local communities. Although he grew up in a small town, Manny Lawson is passionate about all kids, especially kids facing negative influences in the inner-cities.

“We are so grateful that these star athletes are tying to their success on the field to the success of kids in our urban schools,” said Ben Paul, CEO of After-School All-Stars. “Shaun Phillips set a high bar last season and we look forward to more players helping to generate the funds needed to provide quality after-school programs. Ideally, we would love to see a player on every team join the After-School Sack Attack.”

Added Phillips: “I am proud that my fellow players are supporting these children and I know that inner city children all over the country will be kept safe and benefit from the money raised by the After-School Sack Attack.”

In addition to his work with the La’Roi Glover Foundation, Glover recently became a Goodwill Ambassador for After-School All-Stars.

About Manny Lawson

Manny Lawson is currently in his third season with the San Francisco 49ers. He had a promising 2007 season cut short due to knee injury suffered in practice leading up to the third game of the season. Lawson is a graduate of North Carolina State where he ranks second on NC State’s all-time record list with seven blocked kicks and fourth with 20.5 sacks. He is widely considered one of the finest athletes in the NFL.

About Bobby McCray

After just five seasons in the world’s most dominant league, Bobby McCray is one of the fastest defensive ends on the gridiron. He signed a five year deal in the 2008 off-season with the Saints to provide additional depth and speed to a defensive line very much in need of his talent. In 2006 while with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bobby led the team with 10 sacks.

About Shaun Phillips

A native of New Jersey, Phillips had a career best year in 2006 after registering 65 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Entering his fourth year with the Chargers, Phillips has recorded 125 total tackles and 22.5 sacks in 45 career games. This off-season, Phillips inked a contract extension that will keep him in San Diego through 2012.

About Dewayne White

Dewayne White has proven himself as the aggressive and relentless rush end throughout his first season in Detroit. In 2007, White was the first unrestricted free agent to visit Detroit off-season and sign a five-year deal with the team, reuniting him with his former position coach, Lions Head Coach Rod Martinelli.
