Personal Trainer Runs Combine for High-School Athletes

Granada Hills, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2006

Bremond ?Baybay? McClinton of All Sports Speed and Conditioning Program will be running an invitational combine for high-school athletes on Saturday March 25th, 2006 in Granada Hills, Ca. Sponsored by Redbull, the combine is free for athletes and will feature no more than 120 high school underclassmen — sophomores and juniors.

At the combine, these student athletes will work out and test their skills in front of college scouts and coaches. They will demonstrate such skills as their listing vertical, 20 and 40-yard passes, pro-agility run, standard broad jump, bench press 185 pounds, and undergo a position skills test.

Similar in concept to the NFL Scouting Combine held in Indianapolis at the beginning of each spring, the purpose here is the evaluation of these young athletes as prospective college football players. ?It?s a great asset for kids that can help them get into college,? says Baybay of the combine. ?It gives coaches a great opportunity to see the full athletic prowess of these kids off the football field.?

A former professional NFL athlete who played for the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Oilers in the late eighties and early nineties, Baybay has since become a successful strength trainer. Certified as a Specialist in Sports Conditioning through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), he works with high-profile athletes such as Priest Holmes of the Kansas City Chiefs and N.D. Kalu of the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, McClinton runs speed and strength camps for kids of all ages several times a year, including an annual summer All Sports Fitness Football Camp with the Pros.

Baybay?s All Sports Speed and Conditioning Program uses today?s latest technology in speed techniques and development, as well as over 20 years of football training experience to prepare college football players for their professional careers, high school athletes for their college careers, and NFL players to be the best of the best. This unique program for developing maximum athletic potential is geared toward college football players who are striving to prepare themselves for an impressive workout in their up and coming combine or Pro day, or for any player who is planning to attend a tryout or a two-day workout and wants to be highly impressive to the coaching staff.

This is the first combine for high school athletes that McClinton has held in California. At his San Antonio combine last year, eight of the student athletes that participated were awarded athletic scholarships to college. ?It?s been a blessing,? says Baybay of his work with young athletes.

Gangsta Rapper Court Dog Is ?Steel Here? With Fourth Album ?Steel Here,? the Soundtrack Set to Hit Stores Oct. 17

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 13, 2006

Kansas City gangsta rapper Court Dog (ne? Courtney Richardson II) is back with a vengeance with the release of his fourth album, appropriately titled ?Steel Here,? set to hit stores on

October 17.

The gangsta rapper took some time off to dabble in filmmaking, and work on his pet project, Steel Here, an independent film he wrote, produced and scored. The film stars Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, comedian Katt Williams, and Mopreme Shakur, the brother of the late Tupac Shakur. Currently, preparations are being made for the film to make the rounds on the film festival circuit.

?I?m trying to follow the likes of Tupac, Will Smith and Ice Cube,? Court Dog said. ?The music is still my passion, but there?s nothing wrong with diversifying the hustle,? he added.

And more about the music: Court Dog certainly got a little help from friends on his latest release. He tapped some of the most popular and prolific rappers in the industry to create a soundtrack that resonates the voice of the film.

Released on the rapper?s record label — D-Boy Records — “Steel Here,” a movie soundtrack, features 19 tracks, including the single and video “Steel Here,” performed by the rapper-turned-actor. The album contains new music from Bizzy Bone of the multi-platinum rap quintet, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony as well as Bushwick Bill from the legendary rap group The Geto Boys. ?Steel Here? also features several prominent underground artists, including Suga Free, Brotha Lynch Hung, Gangsta Pat, S2theB, C.O. tha Bad Black, and Mopreme Shakur, the brother of the late Tupac Shakurs. Also, rapper and Atlantic Recording artist Guerilla Black makes his presence known on the soundtrack.

Interestingly, the soundtrack mixes it up with some of the most beautiful love songs R&B has to offer ? thanks to neo soul artists Scripture “So Crazy” and Homemade Soul “So Beautiful,” along with up-and coming-songbirds, Jackie Rae “Freaky” and Katrina “Keep Quiet.”

More about gangsta rapper Court Dog

Recording under the rap moniker “Court Dog,” he earned a RIAA certified gold plaque for his work on Master P’s “Down South Hustlers” compilation.

After a stint with No Limit Records, Court Dog started his own independent record company ? D-Boy Records ? and nationally distributed his projects through Select-O-Hits, which is also the home to the Oscar-winning rap group, Three 6 Mafia.

He?s released three independent solo albums — “Thugz Diary,” “Pullin Rank,? and “The Kansas City Chief,” which have sold more than 75,000 units collectively. He?s been featured in several national rap magazines, and performed on more than a dozen compilations and movie soundtracks with record sales, totaling more than $ 1 million

A Triple Threat

With his fingers in music and entertainment ? Court Dog is a triple threat ? a rapper, actor and businessman. Court Dog has been featured on several releases, including the soundtrack to the movie ?Now Eat? by Brotha Lynch Hung, ?The Playa Rich Project? by Spice 1 and ?War Is Me? by Mr. Serv-On ? just to name a few.

He relocated to Los Angeles in xxx to expand his musical talents and pursue a career in acting. As an actor, Court Dogg has guest starred in a variety of projects, including The painting, starring stacy dash; gett’n played, starring vivica a. Fox, bill bellamy, and carmen electra; and shattered day, love on the rocks, don?t touch if you ain?t prayed, starring Ce Ce Penniston. Soldier Wins $10,000 at AFI?s Dallas Mavericks ?Military Appreciation Night?

Leavenworth, KS (Vocus) February 27, 2010

Army Staff Sergeant Forrest Smith of Farmersville, Texas, took home $ 10,000 in a half-court shoot-out challenge during halftime at the February 22 Mavericks game versus the Indiana Pacers.

The contest and its $ 10,000 prize?insured by Dallas-based SCA Promotions?were part of the Mavericks? ?Military Appreciation Night? sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance (AFI).

?In sponsoring events like this one, we?re honored to recognize military men and women everywhere for their outstanding service to our country,? said Kurt Seelbach, president and chief operating officer, AFI. ?Watching Forrest sink the shot that won $ 10,000 was an exciting moment, and we?re thrilled to have been a part of it.?

Smith was randomly drawn from the more than 120 soldiers and their guests attending the game with free tickets sponsored by AFI. What?s more, Smith and his nephew Keith Smith?who attended the game with his uncle and also participated in the shoot-out challenge?were appointed Honorary Co-Captains and took part in a pre-game meeting with Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki. Also attending the meeting were AFI Chairman Col. Thomas Dials (Army, Ret.) and Seelbach. The evening?s festivities also included an armed forces re-enlistment ceremony for eight service members, all of whom took the oath of re-enlistment on the court at halftime.

According to Smith, who is stationed at Fort Hood and is scheduled to be deployed in July, the chance to participate in the event was a huge thrill for himself and his nephew, who will be joining the military himself in summer 2010.

?Keith and I haven?t spent that much time together since I joined the Army 12 years ago. We both felt like it was our night to shine, and being on center court was the mecca of the whole night,? he said. ?I really appreciate Armed Forces Insurance?s support of the military. Experiences like last night?s game make it all worth it.?

NFL Active Player, Kyle Turley, Donates Entire Game Check To Gridiron Greats To Help Retired Players In Need

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 27, 2007

Today, Kyle Turley, a nine year veteran of the NFL and active member of the Kansas City Chiefs, launched a ground breaking initiative which will provide aid to scores of NFL retired players in dire need. At a press conference hosted by Mike Ditka and Gale Sayers of the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, Turley announced that he would be donating his entire game check from one game to the Gridiron Greats, and that he is spearheading a grass roots relief effort among the NFL’s active players to directly help retired players in dire need.

December 23rd, 2007 has been designated by a group of active NFL players as “Gridiron Guardian Sunday.” Turley is coordinating this effort with active NFL players to help retired players in dire need through the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable and humanitarian organization overseen by Mike Ditka, Gale Sayers and other NFL Legends. The fund provides financial assistance and coordination of social services to retired NFL players in dire need.

Many active players will donate part or all of their entire game check, from their December 23rd game to be used to provide immediate assistance to retired NFL players in need. Turley is joined by many players around the league who have already committed to participate in this humanitarian initiative. Players can elect to keep their donation and participation confidential or release their name publicly as a participant in the effort.

“Many of my friends and colleagues have already signed up to participate. Today I am issuing a challenge to all current players of this great game to take action and stand with me and show these men that they are not forgotten,” said Kyle Turley. “I am asking them to join me by donating a portion of their December 23rd game check, whether large or small, to go directly to retired players in need. Whether they choose to keep their participation confidential or release their name as a participant is not important. What is important is doing something to make a difference. This is not our responsibility, but let us unite to help many of our brothers that are in need.”

One hundred percent of all the funds donated will go directly to the many retired players who are in dire need through the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund. None of the funds from this initiative will be used for any overhead or administrative costs of the “GGAF” program.

All active NFL Players will receive a letter and information packet from Turley and the Gridiron Greats on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Players can also visit http://www.gridirongreats.org to get a copy of the players sign up/donation sheet online and to learn more about the initiative. The general public is also encouraged to visit http://www.gridirongreats.org where they can read Kyle Turley’s letter to the active players and learn more about his “Gridiron Guardian Sunday” project.

“The Gridiron Greats organization was selected for a number of reasons,” said Turley. “They are an independent IRS

Born on the 14th of July in 1974 in Belleville, NJ, Dr. Maulin Desai was reared by his grandparents in India until the age of 2 years. Upon his return to the United States, he rejoined his family and grew up in St. Louis, MO where he instantly became an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. After finishing his high school education in St. Louis, he transversed the state and obtained a BA in Biology and minored in History at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). NFLPA Ordered to Mediate with Single Mom

(PRWEB) March 8, 2005

In a story released January 21, 2005 (“Single Mom vs. NFLPA” PRWEB), a Houston businesswoman alleges Charles Taylor, Jr., former Kansas City Chiefs NFL player, and the National Football League Players Association defrauded her in the BET/NFLPA Super Bowl party at the Pavilion, Galleria in Houston last year. The woman filed a civil complaint — Cause No. 819789, Harris County Court No. 1, after which the judge ordered a mediation proceeding.

NFLPA checks totaling over $ 31,000 were signed and issued by Taylor to the producer of the show for services and equipment. The agreement was to wire-transfer the money, but Taylor deposited the worthless checks instead. When the checks were dishonored, Taylor convinced an official at Frost Bank the checks would be honored by Billy Burge (Mr. Burge is the Chairman of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority). By the time the woman discovered no funds were deposited, the show was over.

Consequently, she paid all vendors, laborers and equipment rentals, plus penalties necessary to produce the show. In spite of pleas by the woman, neither Taylor nor the NFLPA has offered any restitution.

Charles Taylor’s attorney claims Taylor is unable to pay any money to the woman. Taylor has not denied services were provided as agreed, and that the money is owed to the woman. The highly publicized BET/NFLPA party was held at the Pavilion-Galleria in Houston, an upscale facility that attracted over 8,500 guests in one evening.

The NFLPA, a union organization and a member of the AFL-CIO, represents 1,800 active and 3,000 retired NFL players. The union, along with its marketing and licensing subsidiary, “Players Inc.” reportedly had an income of $ 165.1 million in 2004. The NFLPA negotiates and assures the terms of the NFL’s bargaining agreement.

The BET co-sponsored the party with the NFLPA, which attracted NFL greats and other dignitaries in the industry. In addition to walk-in cover charges collected at the door, tickets were sold through Ticketron. To date, neither the NFLPA nor Taylor has offered any accountability or an offer to settle with the woman.

The NFLPA continues to claim Taylor was not authorized to act in the NFLPA’s behalf, and was not authorized to sponsor the party (at the time, Taylor was the V.P. of the NFLPA-Houston Chapter). But the NFLPA has yet to file charges against Taylor, who signed and distributed the worthless NFLPA checks.

Designed to reach a settlement before court proceedings, the mediation is scheduled this week. The woman was down-priced at the last minute by Taylor, and then given three worthless checks totaling over $ 31,000.

The city of Houston is intent on hosting the Super Bowl in the near future, but looming negative aspects such as this case have plagued their image. There is an obvious need for the city of Houston to get its house in order before competing in the Super Bowl bidding process.
