Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) October 17, 2006

Nothing tops the hot sizzling sun like Georgio Sabino III during his summer tour in Atlanta. The Ohio-based fashion photographer recently completed his summer season at the thriving southern metropolis which reflects the graciousness, charm and exuberant extrovertedness that Sabino embodies.

Sabino, with subsidiary operations of GS3 in Atlanta, was the official photographer among the many hundreds of celebrity participants circulating at George Fraser?s Annual PowerNetworking Conference, before proceeding to the annual conference of 100 Black Men and the National Urban League, as well as an NFL gathering among the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.

Absorbing the city?s energy and vibrant club scene, he was drawn to its metropolitan spirit. ?Atlanta?s full of life, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are nightclubs on the rooftops of buildings like Bed, Verb and The Compound. That I was able to VIP through the whole two months there is amazing,? he remarked.

Sabino captured the highlights of each event that he photographed, tempering each experience with his own insights and reflections. When asked what he expected to gain from his foray to Atlanta, Sabino stated, ?My goal was to meet new people, network and gain new clients — to make GS3 more of a national presence. I met a LOT of people.? From the National Urban League, among those he met was supermodel Iman, ?one of the greatest fashion supermodels — every fashion designer?s dream? and actor Morgan Freeman.

Even more impressive to Sabino was meeting several delegates who marched in the civil rights movement with Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ?These people were a testimony to helping establish a better place on this earth,? he commented. Like his many positive role models such as Tiger Woods and President Clinton, Sabino?s affinity for circulating among the rich and famous is ultimately a humble and humanitarian desire ?to do something positive, for real…I want to create movement, an impetus, that people will want to join, to invest and be a part of. I?m living my dream right now, just as much as someone like Tiger Woods. The difference is that I?m trying to do just as much without the same amount of money. But I?m doing it in my own way.?

Sabino proceeded to the 100 Black Men and National Urban League conferences. Of the latter, he was able to meet and listen to African-American scholar and public intellectual Dr. Cornel West. At the National Urban League, it was really something to see how large an organization they are, and what wonderful things they have done. It was great, number one, to be there, 2) to watch, and 3) to gain knowledge from the superheroes of the intellectual world.?

This year?s conference drew its largest crowd at 13,000 attendees. Sabino personifies the theme?s goal of ?Building Economic Power for Black America? as he strives to create a family company that includes his nine other brothers and sisters, and their families, his nieces, nephews and their children. Sabino was among other notable attendees such as: Vermont Governor Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee; Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman; Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, other leaders of many faith-based communities; Fortune 500 presidents, the mayors of many U.S. cities, women of leadership and other leaders of color.

Of the 100 Black Men conference, Sabino said, ?To truly sit and hear Bill Cosby speak, you knew you were hearing the truth in front of you because the man is right on it! I?m a fan and an advocate. And in my own right, I?ll be a successor.?

In between his work as fashion photographer and visual artist, Sabino shares his art with school-age children from kindergarten through high school. Presently he is substitute teaching sixth through eighth grades in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights school system before pursuing other business opportunities in New York City. However, each time he returns to teaching, Sabino utilizes what he has gained and translates real life learning back to his students in the classroom.

Sabino also uses the genre of video filmmaking to document and compile artistic interpretations about his ?slice of life? experiences. With these digital perspectives, unwavering optimism and plenty of street smarts, Sabino determinedly asserts himself among the students he teaches to demonstrate how their education may be the door to better opportunities and a broader world view than the limitations of their immediate neighborhood. After all, he did it, too.

Ultimately, his goal is to create a legacy for family, friends and generations of youth to follow the path where art has led him. Of his experiences this summer, Sabino says, ?I saw it (all), been there, worked it…did it. Ultimately, what kinds of things can I teach these kids? I want to build, manage and design GS3 to be a vehicle of empowerment for whoever wants to be a part of it.?

In an exclusive phone interview with Onlock Music/Grandstand Entertainment’s artist, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, the legendary rapper speaks with us about his upcoming national debut album entitled “Tha Classic” and how he is still keeping it real to the streets. He also talks about what it was like working with artists like Bone Crusher and Tom Skeemask on the new album and what fans can expect from him now that he’s preparing to go nationwide.

Audio Interview:

http://www.memphisrap.com/interviews/Skinny_Pimp.html

It’s a well-known fact that the city of Memphis, Tennessee has spawned some huge musical talent. Given its rich history of giving birth to some of the world’s greatest blues and r&b musicians, such as Rufus Thomas, Isaac Hayes and Al Green, as well as newer Dirty South hip-hop talent such as Eightball and Three 6 Mafia, Memphis continues that tradition with offering the music world its next prolific native son, rap master Skinny Pimp.

Considered the South’s biggest secret, Memphis Kingpin Skinny Pimp’s national debut CD, “Tha Classic,” will be released in April 2004 by Onlock Music/Grandstand Entertainment, which is distributed by RED Distribution, a division of Sony Music. The southern wordsmith, widely known as the inspiration behind much of the current smooth-talking southern rap, demonstrates his down-home crunk rhymes and dynamic delivery on album cuts such as “Flickin,” “The Classic” and “Dirty Dirty.” The CD also features guest appearances by hip-hop talents Bone Crusher and the Ying Yang Twins.

Skinny Pimp garnered his southern fame by independently releasing eight albums totaling over 300,000 units in sales. He started his own record label called Gimisurn Productions. In 2002, he released an album titled “Still Pimpin and Hustlin” under the label Rap Hustlaz; it was on that album that Skinny Pimp collaborated with Cash Money Millionaire Lil Wayne on the song “Do What You Do.”

Growing up, Skinny Pimp was inspired by musical greats such as Bobby Womack, Willie Hutch and Marvin Gaye. He began writing rhymes and rapping in the style of Hot Boyz and P-Diddy. In 1996, he began his hip-hop career by writing rhymes for fellow Memphis rapsters Three 6 Mafia. When creative differences created turmoil in that group and various members were departing, Skinny Pimp also departed, and began his solo rap career, quickly creating a loud buzz, becoming a local underground favorite and upholding that long-held Memphis musical banner.

Under the guidance of Onlock Music’s head, former New Orleans Saint pro football player Jamie “JD” Drummond, and Grandstand Entertainment’s president, industry veteran Ken Levy, who was Senior VP of Creative Services at Clive Davis’s Arista Records for 17 years, Skinny Pimp is now properly locked and loaded to blast out onto the national hip-hop scene. He’ll soon tour in support of his new CD and give fans in other cities the chance to hear what Memphis hip-hop heads already know that Skinny Pimp delivers the goods.

Unwrap Memphis’s next gift to the music world — Skinny Pimp.

Miami Beach (PRWEB) March 12, 2006

The urban rap music phenomenon has now hit real estate in a big way, with the Realtor ™ who has become a rap artist — and a pretty darn good one at that.

Phyllis D. Huguenin has written and recorded the first rap single designed to help sell real estate property. Utilizing a sound engineer and rap producer, the project took several months and in the end the tracks had to be relaid but the product is authentic and so catchy as one industry insider put it “you can definitely groove to it.” Hugunien raps along with a professional singer who does background. She chose to spotlight two of her favorite projects on Miami Beach “The Setai” and “Aqua” on Allison Island.

“It was a labor of love. I listen to rap everyday, and brushed shoulders with some of the stars while selling properties so this was the next logical progression for someone like myself who always tries to think outside the box,” explained Huguenin.

Created as a demo single, it will be featured on Huguenin’s South Florida Real Estate Blog at http://sofla1.blogspot.com and the social networking site MySpace.com where she has amassed a sizeable “friends list” in a very short time.

Huguenin has a reputation for using unique marketing methods. In 2004 she carried a welcome sign when Shaquille O’Neal came to town as a new member of the Miami Heat. That landed her on local and national television, as well as newspaper stories (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5445237/).

Those news stories resulted in the sale of a condominium to New Orleans Saints corner back Michael McKenzie who, along with fellow Louisiana residents, endured the upheaval of hurricane Katrina and loss of his residence. He purchased a new home through Huguenin because of the Shaq sign she carried in the news story.

Her web sit at http://www.PhyllisHuguenin.net offers real estate agents from all parts of the country an opportunity to participate in a book project that will be a collection of inspiring and motivational success stories.

“These stories will revolve around the practice of real estate, the people we meet, the problems we solve and the day to day triumphs and heartaches of helping people trying to buy that property they’ve fallen in love with or selling a home they’ve outgrown,” she explained.

Real estate agents are asked to submit inspirational, heartwarming, true stories focusing on faith, love and perseverance with real estate through the web site.

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) December 10, 2007

Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today launched a new promotional campaign, “44 Days in HD, on iO TV,” which will recognize a different high-definition channel available to the company’s iO TV digital cable customers each weekday — beginning with the first “Channel of the Day” — ESPN HD. The initiative will promote the quality programming available to iO TV customers through Cablevision’s leading high-definition line-up — without any of the extra fees and charges phone and satellite TV providers impose on customers who want to “see” in HD.

Located on iO TV channel 736, ESPN HD reaches more than 15 million subscribers nationwide and is available to more than 91 million homes. Ramsey, NJ; New Orleans, LA (Vocus) June 11, 2007

Members of New Orleans’ future generation of leaders, artists and scholars have been empowered to achieve their dreams and ambitions by continuing along the pathway to college thanks to a generous new scholarship program offered by Konica Minolta.

Digital imaging company Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced the winners of its first annual scholarship program that will allow three graduating eighth grade students from McDonogh 15 School for the Creative Arts, a KIPP transformation school (McDonogh 15), to attend top-rated, private New Orleans high schools. The program is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts that focus on next-generation education. For the students at McDonogh 15, the scholarships will provide them with the opportunity to attend private, college-preparatory high schools that will prepare them for higher education as part of Konica Minolta’s ongoing commitment to the school announced in February 2007.

“McDonogh 15 students are some of the most talented and hardest-working in New Orleans – and we wanted to afford them an opportunity to take the next step in their education,” said Bill Brewster, vice president, marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. “We selected McDonogh 15 because of its focus on the creative arts, but also because it is a supportive and fun place for kids to cultivate their futures. These scholarships represent our dedication not only to the city of New Orleans and McDonogh 15, but to next-generation education as one of Konica Minolta’s primary CSR initiatives.”

A Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) school affectionately known as “The Little Red School House,” McDonogh 15 is located in the French Quarter just off Bourbon Street, and boasts a rich history in the creative arts. With Konica Minolta’s announcement to unofficially “adopt” McDonogh 15, the company committed to awarding annual high school scholarships and providing $ 200,000 in donations to the school for structural repairs, as well as donating Konica Minolta hardware and software solutions.

Each year, Konica Minolta plans to award $ 15,000 scholarships to three students that excel in the areas of academics, creative arts and musical arts. Konica Minolta announced the availability of the scholarships to the students at the school’s “Career Day” held on May 7th, during which students were invited to meet with spokespeople from local high schools and businesses and were encouraged to ask questions of the panelists about their experiences in high school, college, and their various professions.

“A large part of our focus here at McDonogh 15 is on setting long-term educational goals for the kids. Students identify their grade level by the year they will graduate from high school and enter college,” said Gary Robichaux, McDonogh 15 school leader. “Every student at McDonogh 15 deserves a chance to receive the best education, and these scholarships provide much-needed assistance for these kids to attend private high schools. Konica Minolta’s scholarship program offers these students the amazing opportunity to attend challenging schools that will keep them on the right path towards college.”

Each of the 25 scholarship applicants were required to complete a scholarship application as well as submit a 100-word essay outlining their educational and career goals. From these written applications, seven finalists were then interviewed by a panel of Konica Minolta and New Orleans city representatives, including Marge Reilly, paralegal for Konica Minolta; Mary Beth Romig, director of communications and public relations for the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Tom Dempsey, former kicker for the New Orleans Saints and current National Account Representative at Konica Minolta’s New Orleans branch.

Mr. Brewster of Konica Minolta headed up the interview process.

“We have gotten to know the students and teachers of McDonogh 15 very well since the start of this relationship, so we were not at all surprised when we were presented with a truly impressive group of applicants,” said Brewster. “As difficult as it was to select our three winners, if we can help make their academic dreams a reality, then we have achieved our goal for the inaugural year of this scholarship program.”

After much anticipation, the winners were announced at McDonogh 15’s graduation ceremony held on June 7th:

Franklin, MA (PRWEB) June 3, 2005

Head Coach Brad Sidwell of Franklin High School in Franklin, Mass. recently fulfilled his dream to coach with his father, former NFL Hall-of-Fame coach Steve Sidwell. As a defensive coordinator with the Patriots, Saints, Packers, Colts and Oilers, Steve’s defensive coaching skills, coupled with the teaching capabilities of the Landro® play analyzer, have encouraged head coach Brad Sidwell to believe next season will be Franklin’s best yet.

As head coach of the Franklin Panthers for the past 10 years, Brad Sidwell reorganized his program to use his father Steve’s talents after Steve retired from the NFL. Influencing the coaching staff and the players Steve helped raise the level of play on the whole, with the Panthers finishing the season 7-4, a better record than the previous two seasons. Brad explained, “I couldn’t see having such a great defense resource and not taking advantage of it. The players respect and revere him. They work extra hard just to keep him happy.”

Gearing up for his upcoming season, Brad began looking for a video teaching tool as aggressive as his newfound defensive coordinator. All he found were video editing systems. While helpful in newsrooms and in commercial video production, these systems were impractical because he’d have to turn his staff into technical editing specialists to make use of them. Brad explained, “This winter, I seriously studied all our options for video analysis. Video editors were obviously too expensive and complicated for my staff to use. Then Landro came to my attention. It was unbelievable. It’s made for true teaching and presenting in front of your team, sort of a video PowerPoint but much easier to use. I am amazed at how it works. It keeps the staff from wasting time doing things that have nothing to do with coaching. The Landro staff has been extremely helpful and their enthusiasm for helping kids get better is contagious.”

Brad continued, “The value in having quality coaches, NFL or otherwise, is in using their coaching expertise in video sessions, not in turning them into part-time video editors. Coaches know how to get in front of a team to motivate and teach, but using video tape halts the process. NFL coaches have tons of time, money and editing personnel to organize their video work. Most high school football coaches are also teachers who have to squeeze video review and practice in with everything else.”

Steve agreed, adding, “Coaching aside, Landro is a great teaching tool, period. It’s a system which is affordable and has many of the same qualities as the systems we used in the NFL. But better still, using Landro is simple and it doesn’t require hired staff to complete.”

The product, manufactured by IRIS Technologies of Greenburg PA, was produced specifically for coaches to give them tape-less access to any one of 100 games or any one of 20,000 plays. It’s like having an Apple I-Pod with 1000s of songs at your finger tips, except instead of music, it features video of plays, training programs, play situations or “themes” like all third downs inside the 25 yard line. With no video tape or DVDs to get in the way, the Landro system is quickly becoming a fundamental tool in football gaming strategy across America.

“Adding technology of this kind is just as big a deal as adding great coaches to your staff,” Brad claimed. “It’s a whole new way to think about getting better.” He and his father both look forward to seeing how their latest addition in technology will impact the season.

In the meantime, even as they plan for the future the novelty of having a New Orleans Saint’s Hall-Of-Fame NFL coach hasn’t all worn off. “I see him working with kids who have never put pads on before, and can tell he’s shocked about their inexperience, but it never shows to the kids,” says Brad. “The first time I told him to go help pass out the jerseys; I can still remember the look on his face… priceless.”

About IRIS Technologies:

IRIS Technologies is a privately held company that manufacturers and sells digital products that make video easier to use. The Landro website http://www.landro.com is filled with testimonials from coaches around the country who claim that Landro has helped them win more games and receive more scholarships for their student athletes. The company is currently branching out to other sports and educational markets. Landro play analyzer is being used in colleges and universities for video analysis in counselor training and speech pathology and has recently been installed at the Pentagon to analyze news footage of the war in Iraq.

Paramus, NJ (PRWEB) October 13, 2006

The images from New Orleans, one year in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, are familiar ? houses remain uninhabitable, residents are living in trailers, and many families are separated. The lack of recovery in this region, and the historic 9th Ward in particular, prompted the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164, based in Paramus, N.J. to partner with Rebuilding Together Bergen County to support REBUILD 1000!, a national effort to rehabilitate 1,000 Gulf Coast houses affected by last year?s storms.

Rebuilding Together Bergen County dispatched a total of 19 volunteers, including five fully certified Local 164 electricians, to the area. During the six-day period, the skilled craftsmen and women, as well as lay workers, worked on four homes. Local 164?s electrical workers completed a comprehensive rewiring of two homes, corrective wiring in one home, as well as the restoration of complete electrical service to all four residences.

?Pictures of the devastation that remains in the 9th Ward do not represent the dire reality these people are facing on a daily basis,? said Carl Fry of Wyckoff, N.J., an electrical project manager and member of the Board of Directors of Rebuilding Bergen County, who volunteered. ?From the odor of mold and water damage, to the lack of industry and jobs, it seems dismal. But there is hope. And where there is hope, there is a strong desire to move forward.?

For Major Lawrence T. Weathersby, Sr., of the New Orleans Police Department, the Rebuilding Together team turned hope into reality. Weathersby wanted to help his father, whose home in the lower 9th Ward was completely devastated by Hurricane Katrina, restore the home for occupancy.

?This house is where I grew up, and it holds a lot of memories,? he explained. ?I am very grateful to our new friends from New Jersey for all they did to help us and our

neighbors.?

Added Barry Hammond, who spearheads Local 164?s community outreach projects at home in Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties, ?There is still so much that needs to be done to help make life better for our southern neighbors. This rebuilding effort requires a long-term commitment by everyone ? from every level of government to the citizens throughout the United States. I am glad I am able to make a difference through my craft.?

In addition to donating skills and materials to the rebuilding effort, Local 164 donated $ 10,000 to the Brotherhood?s Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund immediately following the storm. Funds provided short- and long-term assistance to union members and other residents who lost homes and jobs as a result of the storm.

?Our hearts continue to go out to those who have suffered so much in this calamity,? said Richard Dressel, business manager for IBEW Local 164. ?I am so proud of our member volunteers for generously giving of themselves to provide vital services to those who are still in need of safe, functional electricity.?

REBUILD 1000! was launched through a cooperative partnership between Rebuilding Together, America?s largest volunteer-based organization committed to improving homes and lives for low-income homeowners, and lead sponsor Countrywide Financial Corporation. Additional sponsors of the effort include The Home Depot, American Petroleum Institute, Fannie Mae and the New Orleans Saints.

?Together with our national organization, Rebuilding Together Bergen County has an opportunity, along with supporting organizations like IBEW Local 164, to reach out and restore Gulf region homes to safe, warm and familiar surroundings,? said Gretchen Viggiano, executive director. ?It is our mission to serve low-income, elderly homeowners and individuals with disabilities, and families with children right here in Bergen County and wherever we are needed.?

Each year, the Bergen County affiliate sponsors ?Rebuilding Together Bergen County,? a one-day home repair and renovation program. This past April, a total of 14 locations throughout Bergen County received an estimated market value of more than $ 150,000 in repairs as a result of the project.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164 is dedicated to providing its more than 3,900 members throughout Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties with integral services that elevate the level of electrical and telecommunications expertise as well as the quality of life for its members. IBEW Local 164 provides all of its members with a full continuum of professional education at two state-of-the-art training facilities in Paramus and Toms River, New Jersey. Local 164 includes electricians active within the tri-county area as well as telecommunications workers contracted throughout the state. Today, the IBEW includes more than 800,000 members worldwide.
