Halloween Car Rally

Waxhaw, NC (PRWEB) October 10, 2004

GIMALLY is a unique way to have our own Town of Waxhaw reality party to meet new people, learn about hidden secrets in Waxhaw, increase awareness of alternative roads to Waxhaw during the bridge closing, and a few hours of non-stop laughing.

This game is called a Gimally. It is based on a combination of a scavenger hunt and a road rally. Our own creative survivor race. In a scavenger hunt, there are listed items to find. In a road rally, there is a designated, timed route to follow. With a Gimally, we map out an undisclosed route; provide clues to direct our guests from location to location to complete that route. Along the route, guests validate the location has been found by deciphering additional clues or retrieving a specific mystery item at that location.

Gimally is a unique game to test wit, common knowledge, creativity, team sportsmanship, competitive spirit, and sense of humor. This event is not scored on any speed factor, but on some special Gimmick Rule defined by us.

Gimmick rallies have no checkpoints. You are scored based on information you find on the course. A series of questions (100) is issued to each car (which pays a nominal $ 5 fee in advance ($ 10 day of) to enter the Gimally). The questions serve as clues to a direction or road path that each team must follow to prove that they actually visited each spot (“How many steps to cross the bridge over the train tracks?”)

As many people can be on one team in one vehicle, entry fee is per vehicle. Several prizes are awarded (donated by various businesses) to the teams that come in 1st, 2nd & 3rd. In the event of ties each are put into a drawing for the winner.

The Road Rally will begin in front of Jackson’s Emporium (instructions will be mailed prior to event) where vehicles will receive their Road Rally welcome package. The Rally will end in a location where players can continue their afternoon of fun with music and a surprise Halloween event. Road Rally questionnaires will be collected, scored and the winners presented with fabulous prizes.

Please mail your $ 5 entry fee to:

Waxhaw Merchant’s Association

P.O. Box 96

Waxhaw, NC 28173

Include your name, team name and upon recipt of your entry fee, further information will be mailed to you.

New Jersey Teen Devin Riley Commands National Spotlight the Weekend of Sept 24 – 25

Ventnor City, NJ (PRWEB) September 24, 2005

TNT and the Nextel Busch series Dover 200 race will stage for what promises to be the coming out party for a budding country superstar. Once the race starts all eyes will be on the likes of drivers Mark Green, Elliot Sadler and Regan Smith but before it all revs up…..Devin Riley will command center stage as she starts the

engines with the National Anthem.

The New Jersey teenager has already attracted a lot of interest from Nashville in the form of some of the country’s top songwriters and producers.

Riley recently also won a talent contest held by NFL powerhouse Philadelphia Eagles which will allow her to sing the National Anthem when the Birds play the Oakland Raiders in Philly at Lincoln Financial Field on September 25 at 1pm. That, too is a nationally televised event.

Riley was recently signed to an exclusive contract by BreakOut Entertainment, an East coast based management / public relations company. She has also sung for the Phila 76ers and the Phillies.

Devin Riley was born on January 27, 1988 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The 17 year old singer-songwriter got her start performing at the incredible age of 7 in her schools Christmas play. Since then she has performed at countless festivals, rodeos, pubs, sporting events, nursing homes, telethons, developmental centers, and just about  anywhere with a mic and an audience. Earlier in 2004 Devin appeared for a week of shows at the Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City New Jersey. She was a featured guest in the “Giddy Up Show”.  Devin has released 3 independent CD’s that have sold in excess of 3,000 copies. She has also won numerous singing contests and talent competitions.

Although Devin was born with an eye condition called “Optic Nerve Hypo Plasia” that has left her with limited vision, it is clear that her strengths far exceed her weaknesses. It has been said that what God takes away, he delivers in excess with other abilities. Devin’s most notable God-given skill is the ability to capture audiences with her stunning voice, professional stage presence, and All-American beauty. Some other traits that position this teen for certain success are an accurate memory, superior intelligence, and devotion to improving upon and refining her craft.

When you couple all of Devin’s live experience along with five years of live television performances on the famed “Al Albert’s Showcase” the end result is a seasoned performer whose skills rival that of many who are twice her age. With the support of her parents and family, there is nothing stopping this extremely talented and gifted teen from exceeding all goals and limitations. The sky is the limit and Devin Riley is aiming to punch a hole right through it!   For most 17 year old country singers..Nashville is a Dream……for Devin Riley…..it is her destiny!

Plan the Perfect Holiday Party This Season With Five Useful Entertaining Tips from Deanna Roberts of D.R. Roberts and Event Management

Oakland, Calif. (PRWEB) October 29, 2005

The holidays are a perfect time to connect with family, friends and clients to thank them for their support throughout the year. With proper planning, a holiday party can be easy and memorable for everyone. That?s why special event specialist, Deanna Roberts of D.R. Roberts and Event Management, offers these helpful tips.

?If you find your time is limited, do not hesitate to ask a close family member, friend or hire an event planner to help organize your party. Even for first time party throwers, there is nothing to fear,? says national event planner, Deanna Roberts. ?But no matter what, it is important to make a list and check it twice!?

1. Theme

Decide on a theme which will automatically spice up an ordinary party. Holiday theme ideas include, Christmas, ethnic celebrations, New Years Eve and football bowl parties. For example, throwing a tree trimming party places the focus on the tree. Simply request that guests bring an ornament. ?By choosing a theme, it helps when planning the menu and decorations for your event,? comments Roberts.

2. Budget

A budget is very important when planning any party. It includes how much to spend on the location, food and beverages, decorations, invitations and music. However, there are always clever ways to cut costs. For example, invitations can be sent electronically from Evite.com which is a free service. Or consider hosting the party at your home or apartment to defray the costs.

3. Decorations

Staying with the chosen party theme, decorate with inexpensive items on hand. Make the table setting a conversation piece. For a holiday theme party, use ornaments, wreaths, candles, holiday lights to decorate your space. For a centerpiece, don?t forget nature. ?Pine cones and fresh holly growing in your yard make beautiful (and free!) centerpieces,? suggests Roberts.

4. Food and Drinks

Food and drinks are perhaps the most critical elements of any successful party. Guests may not remember anything else, but inevitably will remember what they ate and drank. Make sure to incorporate your theme into your menu selection. Serve easy to eat food which does not require utensils. Nobody likes a juggling act. Determine a signature drink for the event that is in line with your theme. Roberts recommends serving festive drinks, including a Missile-toe Cosmo or a Peppermint-tini.

5. Donation

In the wake of so many recent natural disasters, the holidays are another opportunity to remember those in need. The party spirit will still continue while helping a good cause. Some ideas include, donating leftover party food to a local food bank or shelter; asking guests to bring new, unwrapped toys; or setting up a post–party event where guests can donate time at a local shelter.

With proper planning and execution, a great party is in store for everyone!

About Deanna Roberts:

Roberts brings over 10 years of experience as a professional event planner. Currently she runs D.R. Roberts Event Management Inc. and works with a wide variety of clients from the Oakland Raiders, Lymphoma Research Foundation, Korve Engineering, 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Allan Houston Celebrity Golf Tournament, National Association of NBA Wives, Black Sports Agents Association, Bring in the Noise, Bring in the Funk ” Broadway Performance, Budweiser, City of Oakland, Gatorade and the Literacy Classic Football Game.

AP9 Passport to Fun Serves Up a Few Fun Ideas for New Year?s Cheer

Stamford, CONN (PRWEB) December 9, 2005

Even as we rush to complete our shopping in time for the upcoming gift-giving holidays, another celebration is quickly approaching, one that usually entails fewer gifts but a lot more people, reports AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC. And New Year?s Eve parties are often remembered long after the last present has been opened and tucked away.

New Year?s Eve may very well be the most festive night of the year. Wherever you are and whomever you?re with, you?re likely to find yourself pausing with millions of others in your time zone to count down the end of 2005 and kick off the start of 2006. AP9 Passport to Fun members, of course, already have plenty to celebrate, with year-round access via DealPass to savings on entertainment choices like movies, music, books, DVDs, and other amusements.

Traditionally, New Year?s Eve parties involve noisemakers, hats, balloons and good food and drink. AP9 Passport to Fun members can save on a variety of amusements perfect for any New Year?s Eve party, from music and decorations to toys, games, meals out, movie tickets and much more.

If you?d like to bid farewell to 2005 with your own unique panache, AP9 PassportToFun offers a these ideas as inspiration:

– Hold a costume ball. Add a little taste of Halloween to this year?s party. Pick a decade — the Roaring Twenties, the Turbulent Sixties, the Disco Seventies — and ask your guests to dress the part. Or invite guests to dress as their favorite year, and award prizes for identifying the correct year and/or for stumping the guests.

– Stage the New Year?s Eve Olympics. This can be a sporting theme or a game theme. If you?re looking for athletics, set up an obstacle course in your yard and a basketball court in your driveway, and ask guests to bring board hockey and air hockey tables, dartboards and other sports-related equipment. If you?d prefer games, break out the Monopoly board, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, chess, checkers, card games and more, and stage a round-robin tournament, with the winner decided at quarter to midnight.

– Are you ready for some football? New Year?s Eve falls on a Saturday this year, which means the college bowl games won?t be played until Monday, January 2. Fortunately for football fanatics, not only are there 14 NFL games on New Year?s Day, there are two on New Year?s Eve, including the Oakland Raiders hosting the New York Giants at 8:00 ET/5:00 PT. Giants and Raiders fans won?t want to miss a second of action (especially if playoff berths are on the line), so get ahead of the curve and plan a football-themed New Year?s Eve party, complete with six-foot sandwiches, chips and dip, kegs, lots of TVs, and a room completely devoid of TVs (for the non-football fans in your midst).

– Collaborate on a block party. Get together with your neighbors to hold a movable feast. Start at one end of the street with cocktails and appetizers, then move from house to house every hour or so for another course, culminating in dessert and champagne in the last house as midnight approaches. You?ll be able to share the costs, keep your car parked, and maybe even wake up refreshed on the first morning of 2006.

And one final reminder: For those indulging in champagne and the like, plan your transportation in advance if you?re celebrating away from home. Whether you select a designated driver, call a taxi, reserve a hotel room, sack out on a friend?s couch or hire a limousine, it?s always best to put a plan together while you?re clear-headed. AP9 PassportToFun wishes you a safe and happy New Year.
