Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY (PRWEB) October 13, 2010
The awe-inspiring thoroughbred racehorse Zenyatta, who became the first female to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic in its 26th running, last year at Santa Anita, will return to defend her title at the 2010 Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs on November 6, 2010. World-renown artist Ralph Wolfe Cowan was commissioned to paint Zenyatta’s portrait to be auctioned for charity during this year’s “White Horse Awards & Charity Luncheon” held at the Breeders’ Cup from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. November 4th in the Triple Crown Room at Churchill Downs. Cowan’s original portrait is expected to raise several thousand dollars, which will benefit Race Track Chaplaincy of America (RTCA), a non-profit organization that addresses the spiritual, emotional, physical and social/educational needs of horse racing’s vast workforce. Enthusiasts who will not attend the luncheon, but wish to participate in the live auction, the proceedings will be streamed live at http://www.worldwideauctiongroup.com.
General edition prints and limited edition signed and numbered prints of Cowen’s painting are available for purchase online at http://www.ZenyattaTheGreat.com. During the weekend of the 2010 Breeders’ Cup, the prints will also be sold at select racetracks around the country: Hollywood Park (Nov. 5, 6, 7), Keenland (Nov. 5, 6), Oaklawn Park (Nov. 5, 6), Remington Park (Nov. 5, 6, 7), and Churchill Downs (Nov. 5, 6, 7). As well, a portion of the proceeds will go to the RTCA charity.
Having won 19 consecutive races, Zenyatta has captured the attention of horse racing fans worldwide. The superb mare is not only the fastest horse on the track, she’s got star charisma. Zenyatta prances on the track in the post parade before every start, and does a victory dance after she wins, much to the delight of her ecstatic fans.
Zenyatta’s champion spirit caught the attention of longtime racing fan Estille Vaughn, owner of Vaughnco Stables of Cynthiana, Kentucky. Vaughn knew of an artist who lived in Lexington throughout the 1970s who painted many of the thoroughbred horse farm owners, their families and horses. After researching artist Ralph Wolfe Cowan, Vaughn learned that Cowan was named the number one portrait painter in the world by art historian Warren Perry in a 2009 lecture at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Vaughn knew if he could get the celebrated artist to paint the world’s greatest horse Zenyatta, it would be the most magnificent thoroughbred racing painting of our time. Zenyatta has never raced east of the Mississippi. “And, I think she’s going to win!” Vaughn uttered excitedly.
Cowan was excited by the challenge of capturing Zenyatta’s magnificence, power and speed. “To be able to capture that excitement on canvas can be quite difficult, but I nailed it,” Cowan said confidently. “As I was painting her, it was almost as if I could feel her spirit. I could sense her determination and strength.” About her look, Cowan addresses, “she has a beautiful consistent sheen throughout her dark brown coat with a muscular, yet streamlined body. And, wow, does she have a stride.”
Following Zenyatta’s October 2, 2010 $ 250,000 win of the Zenyatta Stakes (formerly Lady’s Secret Stakes)* at Hollywood Park, Los Angeles-area newspaper columnist Bill Dwyre wrote, “The mare, who has won 19 races without a defeat, remains the queen of the track, and thousands line up to worship her.”

He subsequently delivered portraits of HSH Prince Albert, HRH Prince Ernst and Princess Caroline, and HSH Princess Stephanie. Among his other Royal patrons are H.M. Sultan of Brunei, H.M. http://legalball.com/NFL_2004_Terrell_Owens_Censorship is a feature article written by sports reporter Keith Dobkowski on the hypocrisy surrounding the FCC and the NFL.
On Monday Night, November 15, ABC created a 30 second promo for their hit television show Desperate Housewives. In the 30 second bit, Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan is seen in nothing but a towel seducing NFL star Terrell Owens in the Eagles locker room before the Monday Night game. As the bit came to an end, Sheridan drops her towel exposing her naked upper back and jumps into Owens’ arms.
And with a drop of a towel another NFL controversy had begun. The NFL, fresh off a Super Bowl in which halftime performer Janet Jackson exposed part of her breast, finds itself once again at the heart of an FCC investigation.
http://legalball.com/NFL_2004_Terrell_Owens_Censorship author Dobkowski explores the non-sense behind this investigation. Using a combination of satire and sarcasm, Dobkowski rightly puts FCC Chairman Michael Powell in the hot seat.
Dobkowski explores the most inflamatory statements and actions in recent NFL history including Rush Limbaugh’s racist comments and Owens’ homophobic comments. Dobkowski debates the FCC’s guidelines allowing racist sentiment but penalizing the human body. To read this artilce make sure to visit http://legalball.com/NFL_2004_Terrell_Owens_Censorship

Huntingdon Valley, PA (PRWEB) February 18, 2006
Cutting Edge Entertainment in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania may seem like your ordinary mobile disc jockey company at first glance, but a closer look will reveal some pretty amazing things coming out of this small and unpretentious organization. One would never think that a DJ group would be a wellspring for raw talent, but Cutting Edge consistently hits home run after home run in regards to being the launch pad for some extraordinarily accomplished young performers.
In 1998, when Cutting Edge Entertainment hired Angela Trimbur and Monica Devlin as party motivators for their entertainment troupe made up of disc jockeys, dancers, actors, singers and musicians, they had no idea that it was to be the beginning of a trend. Angela, who at the time was a cheerleader for Neshaminy High School, auditioned for MTV?s show ?Pop Stars,? made the show, and has pursued MTV driven semi-fame ever since with time spent on another MTV program, ?Road Rules,? as well as appearances on other television programs.
Later, in 2002, Monica Devlin first auditioned with the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders. Not only did she make the squad, but she has served an unprecedented four years with the organization, but spent the last two as a squad captain, making appearances on radio and television and being the only Philadelphia cheerleader to be chosen for the 2005 pro bowl.
In a later audition in March of 2001, a young bright-eyed singer/actor/dancer by the name of Justin Guarini showed up and was quickly hired. Although Justin?s time with Cutting Edge Entertainment was short lived, his reason for leaving was to go to Los Angeles for the premier installment of the hit show ?American Idol.? As most of America knows, he was the runner up in that season to none other than Kelly Clarkson herself, who is as of yet the most successful performer that franchise has put out.
That year set a precedent for Cutting Edge Entertainment. When ?Star Search? brought its audition to Philadelphia, they called Cutting Edge and asked if there was anyone that they should see. Several other television shows were buzzing with the name Cutting Edge Entertainment that year like Entertainment Tonight, Extra and Access Hollywood which all did features on the company.
While the American Idol buzz had everyone?s attention, a few other young Cutting Edge performers slipped through the cracks. Justin Guarini wasn?t the only Cutting Edge Entertainment performer to be signed to RCA records that year, as CEE performer/musician Nick Perri?s band ?Silvertide? was also signed, with Nick playing lead guitar. At the same time, DJ Adam ?Bomb? Talasnick made the cover of XXL magazine in the re-creation of The Greatest Day in Harlem shot, (this being the Hip Hop version). Adam Bomb currently does production for the group ?Schoolz of Thought,? as well as being the opener for Jazzy Jeff, and headlining at Philly clubs like Denim, Wax and Zee Bar.
This year Cutting Edge Entertainment achieved the unthinkable when employee Brianna Taylor made it into the top 48 for American Idol. When some entertainment companies only dream of one employee getting within reach of that title, Cutting Edge has now accomplished it twice. Although Brianna was cut, the positive side is that she will be returning to the Cutting Edge organization, and continuing to wow audiences with her amazing voice and entertaining personality.
Much of the continued success and accomplishment of Cutting Edge Entertainment is due to the guidance the company?s C.E.O., Craig Sumsky. Craig prefers the less pretentious title of ?Director.? Regardless of what he chooses to call himself, it is his wisdom in auditioning and training the cast of Cutting Edge that produces the continued success and caliber of individuals to come out of that organization. The staff at Pat?s Music, local retail sound and music suppliers in Philadelphia teasingly refer to Sumsky as ?The Star maker,? and Justin Guarini has oft referred to Craig as sage, trusted advisor, and leader.
If you were to ask Craig Sumsky about his company, which has been in business since 1992, he would modestly refer to it as a mobile disc jockey company. Nothing could be further from the truth, but if the caliber of the average disc jockey is reflective of the talent that continuously comes forth from the organization then certainly Cutting Edge Entertainment must set the bar.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) October 4, 2006
Several prominent African American pro-life clergy and medical professionals will gather in the city of Philadelphia October 8th and 9th to mobilize and inform clergy and lay people on the increasing decimation and demoralization of the Black community by abortion.
The Life Education And Resource Network, the largest African-American pro-life organization in the country, will have its Summit For Life at the Greater Exodus Baptist Church, where The Rev. Herb Lusk is the host pastor. Known as the praying tailback of the Philadelphia Eagles in the late 70s, Rev. Herb Lusk states, “It is time for these issues to come to the forefront of discussion in the Black community”
The Rev. Johnnie Hunter, Rev. Clenard H. Childress, Dr. Alveda King and Star Parker are among the presenters for this weekend’s conference.
Rev. Clenard H. Childress, founder of Blackgenocide.org and Northeast director of LEARN says, “We are all appalled by the statements made by Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and Joseph Lowery at their Dallas pastors event. How can any Black leader say that abortion is irrelevant to the Afro-American community? Abortion is effecting Afro-Americans more than any other ethnic group in the country.”
A U.S. Census reports that Afro-Americans are below the birth replacement rate for the first time in US history. http://www.census.gov/statab/www/ – refer to chart 77, for more information.
Rev Childress further states, “15 million Afro-Americans have been killed by abortion since 1973. That represents over a third of the present Afro-American population. Can 15 million Afro-American lives be irrelevant?”
“The Dream of Martin Luther King means nothing to a dead baby” says the Rev. Johnny Hunter. “We have failed to give our children the one thing Martin Luther King wanted most. The right to live out our dreams”
In August of 2004, in a survey sponsored by Pace University and Rock the Vote, 54% of all Americans declared themselves pro-life while just 44% said they supported legal abortion. However African-American voters took a pro-life position by a larger 59% to 42% margin.
Star Parker of the Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education, in a recent interview on Life For Today, stated that, “Moral relativism is dominating the minds of our community in epidemic proportions. This has led to the decline of marriage and the slaughter of our innocent.”
Polls show Black Americans are increasingly supporting pro-life candidates in greater margins than before.
The Rev. Johnny Hunter, National director of LEARN and for-runner of the life movement in the Black community says, “There has been great inroads in the Afro-American community but there still is away to go. Having a gathering like this a few years ago was unheard of. Our efforts are beginning to pay off and that means more lives
will be saved”.
Dr. Alveda King recalls memories of her childhood home in Birmingham, Alabama. It was later bombed by those who hated civil rights activism of her family. King says that just as she and her family should have been
comfortable and safe in their own home, so should an unborn child feel safe inside of her mother during pregnancy.

Two Baxa Corporation entries have been selected as finalists in their respective categories for the sixth annual American Business Awards – for overall design in the Best Web Site category and for Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. The American Business Awards recognize excellence at all levels of business — from management and sales to marketing and communications activities. Hailed as “the business world’s version of the Oscars” (New York Post , April 27, 2005), The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing awards program honoring great performances in business.
“These awards promote the very best in American business today, and we’re honored to stand among the other distinguished finalists,” notes Baxa CEO Greg Baldwin. The 2008 awards program features the first-ever award for the Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. Finalists in this category with Baxa Corporation include InterContinental Hotels, John Hancock, and the Philadelphia Eagles — all companies taking action to protect the environment and promote environmental stewardship in their day-to-day operations.
As a healthcare products provider, Baxa strives to choose the most efficient materials for its products — those that have the greatest potential for patient safety and clinical efficacy and the least potential for adverse environmental impact. In its American Business Awards submission, the company outlined a number of ‘green’ initiatives for further reducing its environmental impact and supporting corporate goals for environmental stewardship. The company’s 2007 recycling efforts resulted in significant environmental savings, including: 288 cu yd of landfill airspace; 1,399 mature trees; 38,110 gallons of oil 576,170 gallons of water.
The Baxa Web site redesign project launched in January of 2008. The new site addresses customer feedback on desired site content and provides a better user experience through increased technical content and more in-depth product specification and demonstration materials.
The Baxa entries were judged among more than 2,600 entries in more than 40 categories. Finalists were selected by business professionals nationwide over five weeks of preliminary judging. Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select the winners of the Stevie awards from among the finalists the week of May 19th.
Nicknamed Stevie for the Greek word meaning ‘crowned,’ the American Business Awards design is from the same company that makes the Oscar

We make it a priority to work out to keep our bodies in shape, but our feet are often neglected. If you think no one’s looking at your feet, think again. According to a new national survey* conducted for Microplane Personal Care, more than a third of women (37 percent) and a quarter of men (25 percent) feel that poorly maintained feet are a “toe-tal” turn-off.
Podiatrist and foot/ankle surgeon Lee S. Cohen, DPM, and podiatrist Oliver Zong, DPM, director of surgery at NYC Foot Care and attending physician at New York Hospital Downtown, identify five common men’s feet issues and offer their solutions:
