New York, NY (PRWEB) September 3, 2008

The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. This event, the RecruitMilitary Career Fair, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. RecruitMilitary urges all job seekers who have military backgrounds to attend–veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

The event will be the 76th of 104 RecruitMilitary Career Fairs scheduled for 2008. RecruitMilitary will produce three events the next day, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, home of the New Jersey Devils; at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers; and in Nauticus – Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

In New York, an all-star team of veteran-friendly organizations will conduct one-on-one interviews with the job seekers — organizations that will include corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, educational institutions, veterans service agencies, and veterans associations. Already in the line-up are Asplundh Tree Expert Company, CEC Entertainment, DeVry University, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), GE Energy, Military Sealift Command, the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network, New Horizons, the New York City Department of Corrections, New York Life, Oldcastle Architectural Products Group, The Home Depot, Times Square Alliance, the Veterans Benefits Administration, Wackenhut Corporation, Walgreens, Westinghouse Electric Company, and Woodmen of the World.

RecruitMilitary will produce the career fair in cooperation with The American Legion; HireVetsFirst, a unit of the United States Department of Labor; and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN).

More than 500 organizations attended 45 RecruitMilitary Career Fairs in 2007. At those events, an average of 30-plus organizations interviewed an average of over 325 job seekers. RecruitMilitary Career Fairs conducted in 2006 and 2007 generated television coverage by CNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN; radio coverage by ESPN and numerous regional stations; and articles in metropolitan and local newspapers.

The American Legion is an association of veterans who served during times of war. The Legion has 2.7 million members in nearly 15,000 posts throughout the world. The National Commander of The American Legion is Dave Rehbein, an Army veteran, of Ames, Iowa. The Commander of the Department of New York is Edward Bertrand, also an Army veteran, of Lake Placid. Congress chartered The American Legion in 1919. HireVetsFirst was created by Congress in 2002 to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life. The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. The organization is made up of military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel.

RecruitMilitary, based in Cincinnati, connects employers with job seekers who have military backgrounds. All of the company’s account executives and retained search consultants are either veterans or active or former reservists. The President of RecruitMilitary is Drew Myers, formerly a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. The company was founded in 1998. In August 2008, RecruitMilitary acquired Landmark Destiny Group (LDG), a military-to-civilian recruiting firm based in Norfolk.

In addition to participation in career fairs, RecruitMilitary offers subscriptions to two databases of self-registered job seekers who have military backgrounds. The database at http://www.recruitmilitary.com currently numbers more than 229,000, and the database at http://www.destinygroup.com numbers over 300,000.

RecruitMilitary also offers retained hiring services as well as advertising space in online and print media. The company obtained Search & Employ, a bimonthly print magazine, in the LDG acquisition. In October, the company will mail more than 32,000 copies of the magazine to over 230 military bases throughout the world for distribution to transitioning personnel. Employers, educational institutions, and franchisors advertise in Search & Employ.

Lil Wayne Nominated for 3 American Music Awards! : Artist Of The YearFavorite Male Artist ? Rap/Hip-Hop MusicFavorite Album ? Rap/Hip-Hop Music The Charismatic Hip-Hop Star Gives His Unique Perspective On ESPN.com Blog Sports Blog Draws Rave Reviews and Record Traffic to Popular Site!

NEW YORK (PRWEB) October 16, 2008

By now, it’s almost universally known that Lil Wayne is the Picasso of contemporary music, but who would have ever guessed he would become the Howard Cosell of the blogging world. Displaying an engaging sports knowledge, the world’s best selling rapper (His current Cash Money Records release Tha Carter III, is the biggest selling album of 2008, and was the first release to debut over a million copies in 3 years) has in a mere 10 days become the phenomenon of the entire global sports blogging community.

He contributes his inventive and enlightening sports musings to ESPN.com with typical Lil Wayne flair: fresh, fast, furiously honest and on point – not to mention delightfully entertaining. The witty New Orleans superstar has weighed in on everything from dumping Pittsburgh Steeler QB Ben Roethlisberger from his fantasy team (yes, Weezie indulges in Fantasy football), to his incredible passion for?tennis: “I had a lot of people over at my place to watch the Wimbledon final this year and we went crazy! I love Federer and Nadal.” His commitment as a sports enthusiast – he watches 5 TVs at once on game day are driving a record amount of traffic to the popular sports website, with one column drawing an unprecedented 1,500 comments.

Wayne even blogs about his blogging. “I’m’ overwhelmed about the response,” he quipped on a recent post, “I did an interview the other day and the reporter was like: ‘By the way, I love your blog.’ People who come up and say ‘Your latest song is crazy. I’m like ‘yeah, but did you see my blog?” The entire arrangement with ESPN started as a lark, of sorts. It was during an interview a few weeks ago with an ESPN writer about Wayne’s ‘influence’ on major league baseball players (he was the most popular artist citied by players). The writer who was attempting to gauge Lil Wayne’s appreciation of baseball soon realized that the hip-hop star had an affinity for the game well beyond the average fan.

As a loyal watcher of ESPN’s cable TV network, it wasn’t hard for ESPN executives to imagine some of the other sport scenarios Lil Wayne might be willing to share (he’s already revealed he has a tattoo on his arm with the moniker ESPN). What they didn’t realize is the intensity of the response he would generate from fans and critics who find his blog a refreshing departure from the work-a-day grind of the sports world.

Accumulating near-record views since its September 24 launch, Wayne posts once a week, usually about a page-and-a-half of observations, which has quickly become the must-read of the sports world. As for any other sports related projects that may be on the horizon for the versatile star, Lil Wayne is taking it one blog at a time right now. The online ritual is just adding yet another dimension to an artist whose ability to surprise fans and critics has been a hallmark of his incredible award winning, multi-platinum career.

New Biomedical Treatment Shows Promise For Orthopaedic Injuries

Geneva, IL (PRWEB) June 22, 2009

An emerging technology in orthopaedic medicine has great potential to treat a variety of injuries and help patients avoid surgery? using a patient’s own blood. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy leverages the body’s own growth factors to accelerate healing, reducing recovery time and enabling individuals to return to normal activity more quickly.

The PRP treatment begins by drawing blood from the patient and placing that blood in a high-speed centrifuge, which separates red blood cells from the platelets that release proteins and other particles that help the body self-heal. The result is a concentration of platelets that is three to 10 times what is found in normal blood.

The platelet-rich substance then is injected into the patient where healing is required. These areas are typically places in the body where blood does not go, but the healing aspects of the platelets take effect without the clotting responses that platelets usually cause. PRP therapy is currently being used in a small number of orthopaedic practices and hospitals around the country with notable success.

One of the most promising applications for PRP therapy is with injuries where surgery is not an option or as effective, as in the case of knee tendonitis, tennis elbow and rotator cuff injuries. In these cases, it is often a lower-cost option, as well.

“PRP therapy is an important biomedical advancement in the treatment of orthopaedic injuries,” said Dr. Vishal Mehta, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is one of the few Chicago-area doctors offering PRP therapy to patients. “It is likely to have a major impact for treating amateur athletes – ‘weekend warriors’ – given its relatively low cost and promising recovery for injuries for which surgery is not an option.”

In addition to the possibility of avoiding surgery, PRP treatment offers other benefits, such as increased recovery time. In the case of L.A. Dodgers’ pitcher Takashi Saito, the treatment he underwent for the injury to his pitching elbow last season enabled him to avoid an estimated 12-month recovery time, which would have ended his season early. Instead, he was able to pitch again before the season ended during the pennant race in September.

Although already used for a small number of professional athletes – including Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers – PRP treatment has potential applications beyond athletic injuries, such as for arthritis and osteo-arthritis, where the cartilage at the end of the bone wears away.

“Because it is a new treatment, research is still underway to measure its success across a broad spectrum of injuries and situations,” added Dr. Mehta. “Each case needs to be evaluated on an individual basis, and many patients are finding success with PRP.”

Dr. Vishal Mehta is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who practices out of the Fox Valley Orthopaedic Institute (http://www.fvortho.com) in Geneva and Naperville, Ill. An expert on the application of growth factors to orthopaedic medicine, he is one of the few physicians in the Chicago area who offer PRP treatment as an option to patients. He also is a sports medicine specialist who serves as the team doctor for the Kane County Cougars Class A baseball team and several area high school teams.

Dr. Mehta is very active in clinical research and the director of the Fox Valley Orthopaedic Research Foundation, serves on the board of the Illinois Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and has presented numerous studies at orthopaedic conferences around the country. He also is the founder and director of the Foundation for Orthopaedic Development, an organization committed to improving orthopaedics in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Vinomis Introduces Vindure 900 – The Resveratrol-equivalent of Over 100 Bottles of Red Wine Plus Quercetin and Red Wine Grape Extract

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) July 9, 2009

Vinomis Laboratories today introduced a new super-concentrated dietary supplement based on three widely acclaimed ingredients: Pure Resveratrol, Red Wine Grape Extract, and Quercetin.

This is the first product to be based on proprietary science developed at Harvard Medical School, and licensed to Vinomis. In addition to the long-term health benefits, over 90% of customers are reporting increased energy, improved endurance, improved mental acuity, improved blood sugar, or weight loss.

“I have nearly doubled my endurance. In March, I rode a 48-mile bike race, and experienced severe cramping with three days of recovery time. After 4 weeks on Vindure, I completed an 88-mile race with little cramping and one day of recovery. While racing, my heart rate was significantly lower than previous races,” reports Brian D. of Waynesburg, PA.

For nearly 200 years, scientists have been aware of a phenomenon known as “The French Paradox.” Despite a high saturated fat, high calorie diet, the French live longer and healthier than Americans. High consumption of red wine has long been suspected as the cause, but in 2003, a team of researchers at Harvard Medical School “broke the code” and discovered that 19 polyphenols activate the “SIRT” genes, and 17 of these are found in red grapes and red wine. These genes produce the Sirtuin enzymes which play a key role in the aging process, and prevent many of the diseases related to aging such as diabetes, cancers, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and others.

Two of the most powerful SIRT activators were found to be Resveratrol and Quercetin. Together with an advisory board of distinguished physicians and researchers, Vinomis has developed an ideal combination of these ingredients, including 400mg of 98% pure Resveratrol, 400mg of red wine grape extract from Bordeaux, France, and 100mg of high-purity Quercetin which, in addition to its own benefits, enhances the bio-availability of the Resveratrol, keeping it in the bloodstream longer. Together, these ingredients provide over 900mg of active ingredients in a one-per-day coated tablet.

According to Bryan Donohue, Chief of Cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – UPMC and Vinomis Chief Medical Advisor, “This is the most interesting and compelling story of our adult lives,” he said, commenting on the breakthroughs in anti-aging technology.

Powerful Antioxidant

Independent tests by Brunswick Laboratories measured the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) of Vindure at 19,638, more than eight times the antioxidants in a glass of pomegranate juice. Antioxidants are important because “free oxygen radicals” in the body can cause cellular damage, one of the recognized causes of aging and age related diseases.

Dr. Joseph Maroon, author of “The Longevity Factor,” Vice Chairman and Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and chief neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers, assisted Vinomis in the formulation of Vindure. “Vindure is packed full of powerful polyphenols and antioxidants including Resveratrol, that appear to have profoundly positive effects on human health, exercise endurance, and exercise recovery. Vindure 900 meets my standards of excellence,” says Dr. Maroon.

Human Clinical Trials

A number of researchers, including Dr. James Smoliga of Marywood University, a leading center in sports medicine, have run human clinical trials using the Vindure combination, and have additional trials in progress. These trials have confirmed the positive results observed in the laboratory, including measurable increases in endurance, better memory, and reductions in the factors that can result in age-related conditions. Vinomis is also participating in new trials in the areas of cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance. The detailed results of completed trials can be found on our website at Human Clinical Trials.

Vindure is made in the USA for Vinomis by Nutra Manufacturing of Greenville, SC, a subsidiary of General Nutrition Centers (GNC). The production facility is one of the most advanced in the world, producing billions of doses per year to the highest nutraceutical standards. The facility is certified by the FDA, Australian TGA, USP, and NSF, and complies with the latest GMP (good manufacturing practices).

Vindure is available directly from Vinomis at 877-4-Vinomis (877-484-6664) or at http://www.vinomis.com, and through a network of medical professionals who are recommending Vindure to patients.

‘Miracles For MSA’ Proclaims March as Multiple System Atrophy Awareness Month

Facebook, Worldwide (PRWEB) March 11, 2010

There is no Michael J. Fox. Nor a Muhammad Ali or a Lou Gehrig. But more than 1,000 fans?known on Facebook as Miracles For MSA?have proclaimed March as Multiple System Atrophy Awareness Month.

Passionate patients, caregivers, researchers, friends, and family members want everyone to know about this rare, incurable brain disease that combines many symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease and ALS, with cerebellar ataxia and autonomic failure. Multiple System Atrophy also known as MSA, affects multiple systems of the body. It’s a disease that’s hard to diagnose. And it wreaks havoc on not only the patient but all of those who love the patient as well.

“Miracles For MSA,” a Facebook page connecting those affected by MSA worldwide, stemmed from a similarly named charity event last March in Nashville, Tenn. It brought together Pittsburgh Steeler’s Cornerback Fernando Bryant, a promising genomic research initiative, a Michigan life science startup, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, to raise money for life-saving MSA research. The idea for MSA Awareness month was sparked by Bryant’s former basketball coach, Bob Summers, on the Miracles for MSA Facebook page. Summers’ wife suffers from MSA.

“MSA is so rare that many cases are wrongly diagnosed as Parkinson’s or other diseases with similar symptoms,” said Pam Bower, an active member of the Facebook page, who’s mother-in-law was afflicted with MSA. “My hope with the MSA Awareness month is that the worldwide MSA community will feel more united and will be inspired to do more to raise the profile of this disease and to raise funds.”

Other organizations have joined the effort to proclaim March as MSA Awareness month. A prominent organization supporting greater awareness is the Shy-Drager Syndrome (SDS) Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Support Group. ?By declaring March Multiple System Atrophy Awareness month, SDS/MSA organizers hope to take awareness and fundraising one step further, bringing this and other groups to the forefront of awareness collectively? stated Vera James, co-President of the SDS/MSA Support Group.

About Multiple System Atrophy

According to the National Institutes of Health, “Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by symptoms of autonomic nervous system failure such as fainting spells and bladder control problems, combined with motor control symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, and loss of muscle coordination. MSA affects both men and women primarily in their 50s. The disease tends to advance rapidly over the course of nine to 10 years, with progressive loss of motor skills, eventual confinement to bed, and death. There is no remission from the disease. There is currently no cure.” Multiple System Atrophy encompasses disorders previously known as Shy-Drager Syndrome, striatonigral degeneration and sporadic olivopontocerebellar atrophy. For more details about Multiple System Atrophy please see the National Institutes of Health MSA factsheet.

About the SDS/MSA Support Group

The SDS/MSA Support Group is a 501c3 nonprofit devoted to fostering an ongoing relationship between patients, caregivers, their family members, and medical professionals. The Support Group is one of the most sought-after resources for those dealing with the disease. Services and education offered by the group include an annual patient/caregiver national meeting, quarterly webinars, educational materials and a toll free hotline (1-866-737-5999) designed to offer much needed emotional support for patients and caregivers. Bush, Bradshaw, O’Reilly, Stein and Palin Lead Impressive Speaker Line-up for Atlanta Seize the Day Motivational Seminar

Atlanta, GA (Vocus) October 20, 2010

After completing a successful Seize the Day seminar in Columbus, Ohio, on October 6th, Seize the Day, Inc., is now gearing up for its next motivational business seminar in Atlanta on November 9th at Philips Arena. The event is expected to draw a large crowd to the downtown Atlanta business district.

According to Seize the Day spokesman Doug Williamson, tickets are currently selling at a brisk rate. “We are pleased with the current interest we’ve had in our Atlanta seminar,” stated Williamson. “We are expecting a capacity crowd. We firmly believe they will not be disappointed in the speakers or in the exciting activities we have planned throughout the day.”

Several headliners who will appear at the Atlanta event also spoke at the Columbus event. NFL great Terry Bradshaw kept the crowd engaged with stories from his Pittsburgh Steelers days. “Back then we called our own plays, we made our own choices,” said Bradshaw. “I didn’t want to fail with somebody else’s advice. I wanted to be in charge. Sometimes you just have to do that. It’s amazing what can happen when you decide to take charge.”

Fox news icon Bill O’Reilly shared encouraging words of wisdom. “I was blessed with talent, but so are you,” stated O’Reilly. “I have a decent intellect but you probably do, too. I am unbelievably obnoxious and you probably aren’t. So you’re way ahead of me.”

Former First Lady Laura Bush inspired attendees with personal memories, both personal and painful, from her days in the White House. “No matter what happens, this country is like a big ship,” she stated. “We may lean left or right but we sail on. I feel so fortunate to have experienced such a slice of history.”

Actor-commentator Ben Stein keyed on today’s economy. “There’s never been a perfect time in the economy. This time around it’s a little different. We had a housing collapse, which led to a credit collapse. In most families, everybody has to make a living. One way to do that is to invest and trade in the stock market. While it’s difficult to time the market, it can be done, especially with today’s incredible advances in computing power,” observed Stein.

In addition to Mrs. Bush, Mr. O’Reilly, Mr. Bradshaw and Mr. Stein, the Atlanta line-up will also feature former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who will be speaking on how to overcome adversity. Sales training master Tom Hopkins, leadership development expert John Maxwell, investing guru Phil Town and motivational master Les Brown round out the impressive line-up.

All speakers will appear live on stage and in person during the Atlanta event. Participants will experience a high-energy arena-style event with pyrotechnics, music, contests, networking opportunities, organized team spirit, prizes and live entertainment throughout the day. Doors to Philips Arena open at 6:45 a.m. The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
