Coach Bill Renner Launches A Series Of Training Books For Kicking And Punting Specialists

Lorton, VA (PRWEB) February 18, 2010

Bill Renner, one of the nation?s leading kicking coaches, has launched a series of training books to help high school and college kicking specialists reach their ultimate potential.

?Nothing is more important to a player?s development than a well-designed training program,? says Renner. ?A properly designed training program can take an average player and make him good, a good player and make him great and a great player and make him elite.?

Renner, who has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Virginia Tec, is nationally recognizes as an expert in coaching punters and kickers. His Master?s thesis ?Selected Physical Performance Factors and Football Punting Ability? focused on the factors of what makes a football go high and far.

This thesis laid the groundwork for his ground-breaking and critically acclaimed book ?Kicking the Football? which details a curriculum for players and coaches on how to teach punting and kicking.

?Over the past 25+ years of coaching and training high school, college and pro athletes, lack of training repetitions is the number one reason I have observed as to why an athlete did not achieve their full potential,? says Renner.

Renner says often times the athlete sincerely believes they are doing enough repetitions until they are educated as to how many repetitions the body needs to be able to master a skill well enough to repeat it at the level they aspire to.

Research shows that it takes 10,000 hours of deliberate or deep practice to reach a level of mastery that will enable you to become a top level performer in your field, says Renner. ?So, if you practiced 6 days a week for 2 hours a day for 52 weeks that would get you only 624 hours in one year!?

Renner says this assumes you are doing the right drills with the right techniques to produce the desired skill. ?Skill is the insulation that wraps the neural circuits and grows according to certain signals, he says. ?If the drills and techniques are not right then you will not get the desired skill and you would have to subtract practice hours.?

Renner says this illustrates the importance of having the right training program, and why he has created his series of training books.

?These training programs are unique because they have been honed from coaching and training athletes who were active team members,? he says. ?This means the techniques they used were necessary for them to be able to perform well so that their team could win?.and their team?s won. In fact, numerous players earned local and national post-season honors as a result of their performance and the team?s winning.?

?These programs are not speculative, they produce results? Renner says.

Coach Gary Zauner Requests the IOC to Include ‘Kicking A Ball’ as a 2012 Olympic Sport

Fountain Hills, AZ (PRWEB) September 9, 2008

Coach Gary Zauner, one of the leading football kicking coaches in the United States, has requested the International Olympic Committee to include ‘kicking a ball’ as an Olympic sport for the 2012 London Olympics.

“The activity of kicking a ball goes back thousands of years,” says Zauner, “and almost every country in the world currently has a sport which includes kicking a ball.” Zauner adds, “The IOC should recognize the global popularity of kicking a ball, and in its purest form, add it as an Olympic sport event.”

Zauner, who was a National Football League (NFL) Special Teams coach for over 13 years, coached some of the greatest kickers and punters in NFL history including 17 Pro Bowlers. He is currently a kicking consultant working with some of the NFL’s top kickers and punters (for more information please go to http://www.coachzauner.com).

Because of his close connection to football, Zauner says he understands why so many American football fans would like to see football included as an Olympic sport, but that is not what he is requesting of the IOC.

“As someone who has been involved in the art of kicking a football for over 35 years, of course I’d love to see the sport of American football included as an Olympic sport,” says Zauner. “However, I realize football will have to become a more international sport like soccer, before that happens.”

Zauner says ‘kicking a ball’ as an Olympic sport is something that could be considered now, and certainly should be considered for the 2012 Olympics Games in London.

Zauner admits he is not sure how an Olympic event would be built around ‘kicking a ball’ but says he has a few ideas that could, and should be explored.

“This event could start as an individual event and then be developed into a team competition,” he says. “It could include kicking one type of ball (soccer, football or rugby) or a combination of these balls. Or, perhaps a new ‘universal’ ball would be designed specifically for this event.”

Zauner says it is the ’skill’ of kicking a ball, and not the ball itself that is the most important thing.

“What is at the foundation of my request is to see an Olympic event that highlights the skills related to kicking a ball, such as distance and accuracy,” says Zauner. “These are the same skills currently used in Olympic track & field events such as the javelin, discus and hammer throw, and the shot put.”

Zauner admits he doesn’t understand how the process of adding a sport to the Olympics works, but says if it has something to do with the global popularity of a sports activity, then adding an event based around ‘kicking a ball’ should be a no-brainer.

“Kicking a ball is perhaps the most wide spread sports activity in the world,” says Zauner. “So why wouldn’t kicking be represented as an Olympic sports event.”

Zauner realizes this is no small request he is making of the IOC, but adds “when you take into consideration the global popularity of ‘kicking a ball’ as a sports activity, then it becomes clear the IOC should give this idea serious consideration.”

Zauner is awaiting a response from the IOC regarding his suggestion and looks forward to discussing it with them should they find merit in the idea.

Until he hears from them, Zauner will continue to do what he has spent most of his life doing; coaching some of the best kickers and punters in the world, and those trying to become the best in the world, on how to ‘kick a ball’ with distance and accuracy.

New Oklahoma Sooners Football Title Released, Proceeds Support Coach Bob Stoops’ Champions Charity

El Dorado Hills, CA (PRWEB) August 14, 2007

For the authors of University of Oklahoma Football: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports, it was natural to start their Sports by the NumbersTM series with an OU title. All three authors are graduate students at the University of Oklahoma. They came up with the series idea in a statistics class on the OU campus and then crafted the Sports by the NumbersTM concept at Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q in Norman, OK.

“OU football is one of the elite programs in collegiate athletics,” explains co-author David Horne, “and since we also attend graduate school at OU, it was the obvious choice. Plus,” he continued, “if you spend ten minutes in Norman I guarantee you will see someone wearing a T-shirt that says, ‘I love Bob’ -and that’s just way cool.”

In between classes and exams during the summer of 2006 Horne, Daniel Brush, and Marc Maxwell combed through Sooner football articles, websites, and team data until they realized their list of stories had become a book. University of Oklahoma Football is composed of ten chapters, each offering one hundred numbered “mini-stories”–facts, anomalies, records, coincidences, and enthralling lore and trivia–associated with a number from 1 through 1,000. The book debuted at Sooner Day on campus August 3, where the authors signed hundreds of copies for Sooner fans who flocked to the annual event.

Head Coach Bob Stoops, who wrote the Foreword for the book, liked the book’s number concept. “Long-time Sooner fans will revel in the flood of memories that flow from these pages,” predicted Stoops. “You’ll think back to a defining moment–that favorite player, an afternoon next to the radio, or that special day at Owen Field. And the information contained here is so thorough that you’ll relive those memories many times.”

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book on the Sports by the NumbersTM website, http://www.sportsbythenumbers.com, will be donated to The Bob Stoops Champions Foundation. The foundation was established in 2000 to assist organizations that help disadvantaged or ill children in the Norman and Oklahoma City areas. A limited number of copies of University of Oklahoma Football signed by Stoops are also available on the website.

University of Oklahoma Football comes alive with the Sports by the NumbersTM interactive concept. Entries throughout the book are tagged with a logo indicating that more information regarding that number, including additional reading material and audio and video clips, is available in “The Locker” section of the website. Brush explains, “Our website is a place where sports fans can go to share their experiences, memories, and love of sports.”

After a successful launch of their first book, the authors are looking forward to many new Sports by the NumbersTM titles debuting in 2008, including NASCAR, Penn State, Notre Dame, the New York Yankees, and more. “No fan will be disappointed–at least that’s our goal,” assured co-author Maxwell. “The SBTN team is working together and with free-lance authors to produce books for nearly every collegiate and professional team. In time, if your team has a sizeable following, there will be a book with a SBTN logo on it. You can count on that.”

Ohio State Football Head Coach Jim Tressel and Brand Thunder Unveil Themed Browser

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) November 2, 2007

Brand Thunder LLC (http://www.brandthunder.com) announces the first use of its innovative browser tool in the NCAA via their client, Ohio State University’s football coach, Jim Tressel.

Coach Tressel is now the first NCAA football coach with a customized web browser (http://www.coachtressel.com). “Brand Thunder gives CoachTressel.com another valuable tool that allows OSU fans to show their Buckeye Pride while providing a convenient way to stay up-to-date on all of the great things that take place within the Ohio State football program”

Internet marketers are scrambling to find ways of keeping visitors riveted to their web sites. By customizing the web browser with a company theme, marketers can keep the attention of consumers, even as they navigate away from the brand’s page. “In a web marketplace where users expect personalization, our unique themes facilitate that and something far more valuable: a persistent channel of communication from businesses to consumers,” explains Patrick Murphy, Founder and CEO of Brand Thunder. “We integrate the brand into the browser, so businesses extend their reach regardless of where their customers or fans wander on the internet.”

Nearly every aspect of the browser was customized to reflect the Buckeye’s spirit, color and web presence. After fans install Coach Tressel’s custom theme on the popular Firefox browser, the otherwise generic browser is transformed into a branded stadium that puts the fans right in the game and Coach Tressel’s coaching philosophy. OSU’s colors flood the screen and browser navigation features are transformed with familiar football elements. Directly beneath are permanent links to Ohio State’s Athletic program and the official site of The Ohio State University. In addition to driving traffic to Coach Tressel’s website, the browser theme also includes a real-time ticker so fans can stay on top of the latest team news. Such a display seamlessly integrates the traditional use of a web browser with revenue generating links and tools.

The advantages of a themed browser are manifold. “It extends the brand using a fresh, innovative and effective channel,” says CEO Patrick Murphy. “Themes offer passionate users another avenue to display their affinity while facilitating more frequent and focused communication to consumers.”

Brand Thunder is the brainchild of interactive marketing expert Patrick Murphy. His marketing channel development experience spans several well-recognized brands including AOL, Netscape, Verizon, Swiss Re and JP Morgan Chase/Bank One.
