PBFN Holds First Annual Business Skills Conference — Athletes converge in Dallas for focus on life beyond the game

(PRWEB) April 24, 2002

DALLAS, TX – April 22, 2002 – - The Professional Business and Financial Network (PBFN), an organization exclusively for professional athletes focused on business building, professional development and peer networking opportunities, will hold its first annual Business Skills and Development Conference this May 5-7 in Dallas, TX. Seasoned professionals both from within and outside professional athletics will lead hands-on workshops. Athletes will engage in structured and free-flow dialogue with speakers and attendees to maximize their developmental experience. Keynote speakers include NFL Hall of Famers and successful entrepreneurs Roger Staubach and Franco Harris, author and renowned business expert, Terrie Williams, and sales and marketing guru, Max Carey.

The conference is designed to provide athletes with firsthand accounts of the successes and the challenges of business. At the same time, they will benefit from the marketing opportunities, strategic planning insight, networking, strategic alliances/partnerships and sponsorship solicitation opportunities. Attendees will also participate in a business etiquette luncheon, since business etiquette is often just as important as business plan fundamentals.

Conference sponsors include: My Virtual Corp, Phillips Consulting, Inc., U.S.A. Harvest, Food for the Hungry, and Lincoln Financial Advisors. According to U.S.A. Harvest’s founder, Stan Curtis, “Participating as a conference sponsor offers the opportunity to impress upon our colleagues and clients at PBFN that it is not only important to be conservative and vigilant in their own professional lives and decisions, but also to be ever aware of the fact that as leaders in their communities they can influence others to help those in need.”

BFN’s founder, Ryan McNeil, formed PBFN to assist other athletes in an area often overlooked – life beyond the game. Currently with the San Diego Chargers, this veteran Pro Bowl defensive back has been playing professionally for nine years. McNeil’s tenure in the NFL is a vast departure from the three and a half years of the average NFL player. While he has attained longevity in the NFL, he is fully aware that time is not on his side. McNeil believes that athletes themselves should shoulder the burden of assuring their continued successes. PBFN provides members with an opportunity to create a competent business identity separate and apart from their athletic identities. PBFN’s goal is to help others rise to the challenge of business success during and after athletics.

The organization is open to all current and former professional athletes from all sports, worldwide. PBFN’s membership numbers are increasing rapidly. There has been a strong interest in PBFN from athletes in a wide array of sports including professional basketball (Indiana Pacers’ Head Coach, Isiah Thomas, sits on PBFN’s Board of Advisors), baseball, hockey, golf, tennis and even rugby. There seems to be an echoed sentiment that this type of organization is long overdue, especially among former athletes.

Many people perceive professional athletes as superior performers on the field, but are reluctant to engage them as qualified business professionals off the field. PBFN is in the position to change this paradigm. To succeed at the professional level in a sport requires perseverance, endurance, hard work and discipline. In McNeil’s opinion, “Many of the characteristics and skills it takes to be successful in professional sports are the same as in “real-life” business. PBFN will facilitate the honing of these skills for success now and in the future.”

New York Jets vs Dallas Cowboys Live Stream TV Channels, Radio Broadcast, Reports, Preview, Watch Football from usanfltv.com

New York, USA (PRWEB) August 09, 2011

That are actually the case for NFL Football game Week 1 of the 2011 season where two giants will face one another and New York Jets are hosting the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New York Jets stadium. New York Jets vs Dallas Cowboys Live Streaming NFL Regular Season Coverage starts at Sunday, 1:00 PM EDT.

Cowboys come into their 16th season since winning Super Bowl XXX. In Jones’ world, 16 years is a century. The Cowboys have a coach, a quarterback and talented players at skilled positions.. New York Jets rushing attack saw a significant drop-off from its 2009 No. 1-ranked running game last time, but don’t expect Rex Ryan to move away from his game plan because of it . Cowboys ended ranked 23rd in the NFL next to the run in 2010, while the Jets ended as the 22nd-best rushing assault.

New York Jets vs Dallas Cowboys Live Here – http://www.usanfltv.com/

The Jets leading back-to-back AFC championship game appearances and there performace is highly satisfied . Rex Ryan says about this question that he’s more anxious about this season’s opener than those games and it’s not because his brother, Rob Ryan, will be making his debut as Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator on the opposing sideline.

The Dallas Cowboys are heading to New Jersey to take on the New York Jets. While there are no shortage of story lines for both teams, the Cowboys will be looking to their defense to make a statement to start the 2011 campaign.

Last season Dallas had the 23rd ranked defense in yards allowed and also struggled to stop teams from scoring. Dallas? defense finished the worst in team history for points allowed last year. Wade Phillips is out and Rob Ryan is in. Ryan, came to Dallas from Cleveland in the offseason. He had the 13th ranked defense with a Cleveland group, that he said, had ?far less talent?.

Dallas Cowboys will kick off their 2011 season on Sunday night as they head to New Jersey to take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. For the second consecutive year, the Cowboys will be featured as the primetime game on Sunday night.

Being the Sunday night game makes the game incredibly easy to find on TV. The game against the Jets will be broadcast nationally on NBC, with kickoff slated for 8:20 p.m. EDT, 7:20 p.m. CDT. The game will be preceded by NBC’s Football Night in America, which will begin at 7 p.m. EDT, 6 p.m. CDT.

Ryan brings an aggressive 3-4 scheme designed to confuse quarterbacks and lineman. He looks to disguise his blitzes with the threat of sending everyone. The difference in Dallas? defense has to come from Ryan?s ability to scheme and get more out of his players than Phillips did last year. Nine of the eleven starters are the same as last year and they will get a big challenge to start the season.

The season is finally here and I am ready… I think. Here?s my take on the upcoming game: I think the Cowboys are only as good as the offensive line and that will be determined on Sunday versus the J.E.T.S. Jets, Jets, Jets.

Despite their play recently, I?m really not too worried about our defense. Rob Ryan has his ingenious defensive schemes in place and if we can just execute them, we may only need to prevent the big play. We have enough offensive weapons to do some damage ?IF?, and I am

Quotes: ? “I see the New York Jets coming out strong on Sunday. This is a team that has gone to back to back AFC Championship games. Throw in a shortened preseason and I think the Dallas Cowboys haven?t learned the new defensive scheme”-MG . heavy on the ?IF?, we give Tony Romo time to execute.

All-Star Orthopaedics Joins Mike Ditka?s Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund (GGAF) Medical Program in Dallas

Dallas, TX (Vocus/PRWEB) January 26, 2011

The Dallas orthopaedic surgeons at All-Star Orthopaedics, in cooperation with the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund (GGAF), are announcing the expansion of valuable medical services to retired players of the National Football League (NFL) in Dallas, TX. All-Star Orthopaedics will attend GGAF?s Super Bowl Fundraiser ?The Best Party in Texas? and be joined by a number of NFL legends, including Mike Ditka, Marv Levy, Kyle Turley, Tony Dorsett, Mel Renfro, Michael Irvin and many more.

As the Chairman of the Board for the GGAF, Mike Ditka says the organization?s mission is to assist retired NFL players in dire need of medical services for a variety of reasons, including inadequate disability coverage and pension benefits. ?Our mission has been and will continue to be to help those former players and their families going through difficult times. The need is great. We welcome and are blessed to add All-Star Orthopaedics to our family of providers, as they have three extraordinary facilities in the Dallas area.?

All-Star Orthopaedics joins a growing portfolio of facilities offering pro bono surgical and medical services to GGAF members in need of a number of procedures such as knee replacement surgery and physical therapy for past injuries. Some of the former NFL players receiving assistance were pioneers of the sport — yet unable to financially support their medical needs due to the high costs of necessary treatment and inadequate private and public funding. By enlisting the support of partners like All-Star Orthopaedics, GGAF is able to provide no-cost, quality healthcare to hundreds of clients annually, for services ranging from physical therapy to patient specific knee replacement surgery.

President of the GGAF, Shannon Jordan believes the work All-Star Orthopaedic is doing says a lot about the institution, the doctors and their team. ?They are willing to step up and help us fill this unquestionable need. We are truly grateful. These are remarkable people helping remarkable people who have slipped in society. Our collective goal is to get these great men and their families back on their feet.?

Committed to providing retired NFL players with the basic human services they need, GGAF offers a broad range of services including medical, pharmaceutical, housing, food, and clothing. To support its programs, the organization relies solely on corporate and private donations generated through sponsorship, special events, sports memorabilia auctions, autograph sessions, and public drives.

‘Perfect Attendance’ Completes Successful Pilot Program At Dallas High School

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 14, 2004

The successful pilot launch of “Perfect Attendance” will conclude Friday, May 14th at Woodrow Wilson High School with a live performance by Orlando Salinas’ Latin-Rock Band. The concert along with drawings for several prizes is part of the rewards program offered to those students who successfully participated in the Perfect Attendance test program.

Woodrow Wilson (part of the Dallas Independent School District) was chosen to help launch the cutting-edge, six week long experiment. Perfect Attendance is an innovative program that uses targeted incentives to motivate students to attend school, complete their education and achieve at a higher level in the classroom.

Incentives for the program included rewards from thirty different sponsoring companies. Students were able to redeem their individual points for game tickets from professional sports teams, movie theater passes and many other goods and services from various retailers and restaurants that fit those teen’s demographics.

This Friday’s concert by the Orlando Salinas band concludes the program for the spring semester. In order to attend the event, eligible students must meet attendance requirements or have earned at least 3,000 points.

“We’re very excited about this program, it’s a fun way to say: ‘hey, learning is cool’. We hope to get the message across that getting the most out of every opportunity that school offers is very important at this point. …It is a bit of re-assurance that doing the right thing is totally ok”. Said Sammy Echeverry, one of the band’s founding members.

“The students are very excited about having a concert with a great local band in their high school. Many of the students have told us that they will make sure they are in school this week so they can attend the concert,” said Stewart Lytle, a partner in the Perfect Attendance program.

During the concert, there will be a drawing for two American Airlines tickets for students who have earned 8,000 points or more. To earn 8,000 points, the students must have near perfect attendance and high-quality grades. Students can start redeeming points when they have earned 2,000 points or more.

The Perfect Attendance program was initiated this spring at Woodrow Wilson High School to demonstrate that incentives encourage students to be on time, in class and performing at a higher level. Teachers have noted that attendance since the program began has increased and tardies are down. The student response has been very positive to the program. Participants eagerly check their point values via the web site or at the school cafeteria.

“They also like getting rewards. And these incentives have modified the behavior of some students. They are motivated by the acquisition of points and for the rewards they can earn by being in school and performing well.” Lytle said.

Corporate sponsors and partners for Perfect Attendance include American Airlines, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys (Desperados), Dallas Burn, Six Flags/Hurricane Harbor, Blockbuster, Glamour Shots, AMC, Theaters, Lowe’s Theaters, WFAA-TV, Frisco Roughriders, Fiesta Store, BestBuy, SunCoast Video, Sam Goody, Finish Line, Fast Forward, Claire’s, Palm Beach Tan, Speed Zone, Invincible Sports T-shirt, Celebrity Station, Valley View Mall, Towne East Mall, Cantina Laredo, K-104 Radio, After Thought, Icing, David Burrows, Barking Harley Productions, the Orlando Salinas Band and the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse.
