Miami Dolphins’ Tim Dobbins Teams with USA Football and Our Future Stars to Help his Former Nashville Middle School Football Team

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 04, 2011

They say it is important to always remember your roots and the football players at Wright Middle School in Nashville, Tenn., are happy that Miami Dolphins linebacker Tim Dobbins remembered his.

Dobbins, in partnership with Our Future Stars and USA Football, is donating 32 new helmets and shoulder pads to his former school to ensure that the team can play ? and play safely ? this fall.

On a recent visit back to Wright Middle School, Dobbins noticed some things strangely familiar at his former school. Some of the shoulder pads that he wore more than a decade ago playing for Wright were still being used by Raiders players today.

“We just don’t feel safe using all of what we have,” said Wright Middle School head coach Brad Weeks. “With all of the information out there about player safety and concussions, I can’t let the boys practice safely in some of our pads any longer.

“We lost a couple of players last year who really wanted to play but were concerned about their safety,” added Weeks. “It is heartbreaking to lose kids who want to participate because of poor equipment.”

Dobbins and his agent, David Canter, decided to do something to help his old school. In partnership with Our Future Stars and USA Football, Dobbins is donating new Riddell helmets and shoulder pads to the school. In addition, Wright Middle School football coaches will receive USA Football?s coaching resources, including a video drills library and access to innovative online coaching education courses that include chapters on concussion management and player safety.

?I have been blessed to be able to become a professional football player and I know as a former player of Wright Middle School how important player safety is. So when I saw the condition of the equipment that these young men were being told they had to use I knew I had to do something,” said Dobbins. “I called my agent David Canter and together we put together a plan along with USA Football and Our Future Stars to give them proper protective equipment. We have been able to donate new helmets, shoulder pads and mouth guards. It is my hope that these players? families can feel confident that these young men are safe while learning and playing the great sport that I love ? football.?

?Tim Dobbins is to be commended for his heartfelt donation to benefit kids whose shoes he stood in 15 years ago,? USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said. USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the Titans, the NFL and each of the league?s other 31 teams. ?USA Football is inspired to help all kids ? like those at Wright Middle School ? enjoy the excitement, healthy play and team-first values that America?s favorite sport provides.?

“There are so many programs and kids affected by the estimated $ 20 billion in cuts to public school athletic budgets that stories like Wright’s are becoming far too common and we’re working hard to develop longer term solutions,” said Rob Katz, executive director of Our Future Stars. “We are proud to help Tim, USA Football, Coach Weeks and the staff at Wright to help make sure that the Raiders are able to play this season.”

“Many people have talked about trying to help over the years but Tim is the first person to take the issue seriously enough to actually follow through,” said Weeks. “We were excited just to have our hometown hero pay us a visit. We never could have imagined so much good would come from it.”

About USA Football

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body in the United States, hosts more than 80 football training events annually offering education for coaches and game officials, skill development for players and resources for youth football league commissioners. The independent non-profit is the official youth football development partner of the NFL and its 32 teams. USA Football manages U.S. national teams within the sport for international competitions and provides more than $ 1 million annually in equipment grants and youth league volunteer background check subsidies. Endowed by the NFL and NFL Players Association in 2002 through the NFL Youth Football Fund, USA Football (http://www.usafootball.com) is chaired by former NFL team executive Carl Peterson.

About Our Future Stars

Across the county a stressed economy has forced school districts to dramatically cut budgets, leading to the elimination of employee positions, cuts in extracurricular programs and reductions in much needed teacher and student support. However, the work isn?t going away, so staff end up doing double and triple duty; and the risk increases that more of our country?s students will fall through the cracks of an overburdened system. With schools reporting even less dollars to operate this year, the cuts will be more visible than they were last year. Our Future Stars, a member of The Champions Fund (EIN#59-3685490), provides grants to school boards, individual schools and qualified youth sports organizations and programs to promote youth participation in sports. Our Future Stars was featured on CBS Sports, Turner Sports and in Sports Illustrated recently as part of the Buick Human Highlight Reel during the Men’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. http://www.ourfuturestars.org.

Pepper Nasal Spray Could Stop Recurring Migraines From Sidelining Miami Dolphins Linebacker

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 12, 2007

Dolphins middle linebacker Zach Thomas was forced to sit out Sunday’s losing game against the Buffalo Bills due to his ongoing battle with chronic migraine headaches. On Friday, Miami’s head coach Cam Cameron announced that Thomas has not yet received medical clearance to play and could be sidelined for the rest of the season. With the Dolphins are fighting to pick up their first win of this season, fans would like to see Thomas back on the field as soon as possible.

“It is frustrating, very frustrating. I can’t get any treatment. All I can do is wait for the headaches to go away, and waiting isn’t something I’m good at,” said Thomas in an interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

SiCap Industries, a company known for innovative natural health products may have the answer Thomas and his fans have been searching for. It’s called “Sinus Buster,” the world’s first hot pepper nasal spray registered with the FDA for over the counter sale. Aside from relieving a variety of chronic sinus problems, this natural formula is also famous for being a powerful headache buster. The active ingredient in Sinus Buster is Capsaicin, the natural chemical responsible for the heat of hot peppers that instantly depletes certain brain chemicals that cause headache pain.

“Not only does capsaicin work within a couple minutes, but it can be used as often as necessary to keep headaches from coming back. We have thousands of customers including doctors who praise Sinus Buster for relieving their migraines without side effects and rebounds,” says Wayne Perry, president of SiCap Industries, LLC.

A recent article in the New York Times sites several studies that back up the capsaicin headache remedy, and according to Wayne Perry, Sinus Buster is Thomas’s best bet for getting his headaches under control.

“I suffered from chronic cluster headaches my whole life until I discovered the medicinal power of hot peppers. I haven’t had a full-blown headache attack in more than ten years thanks to Sinus Buster. If Zach wants to try it, we’ll be glad to send him some, or he can just go to the Dolphin Mall in Miami and get it at Vitamin World.”

Sinus Buster is available in thousands of retailers including Vitamin World, Drug Fair, Value Drugs, Hannaford, Price Chopper, Publix Greenwise Markets and CVS online.

NFL Betting: Sharp Money on the Miami Dolphins against Brett Favre and the Packers

Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 20, 2006

NFL Expert and NFL Playboy Feature Lisa Perry of Point-Spreads.com, the premier provider of sports data, information, and analysis to the betting community, discusses this weekend’s key NFL football match up between the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers with CEO Thomas Jensen. Point-Spreads.com will have full coverage of NFL Betting for Week 7 including the recent terrorist threats targeting NFL Stadiums with radiological dirty bombs.

The Point-Spreads.com team lends an insight into what to look out for when researching for NFL predictions, as well as where the “public’s” money is going when the Green Bay Packers travel to Dolphins Stadium to play Miami.

“We saw the opening line on the Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers go from the Dolphins -4 to -5.5 currently on the Live Odds Feed located on our site at: http://www.point-spreads.com/nfl-point-spreads.html ” stated Jensen.

“Inconsistency has played a major roll for Miami’s problems” stated NFL Expert and NFL Playboy Feature Lisa Perry. “I don’t believe that Green Bay will walk away with a win. I truly believe a bye week does not help every NFL team. Any team playing the way the Packers are needs to keep playing week in and week out to get out of the slump. The Dolphins with home field advantage and having a tough defense led by Jason Taylor seems like the right play” Perry concluded.

“The professionals clearly believe the Dolphins will cover as a home favorite. Miami needs the win and Joey Harrington should feel more comfortable at home after losing his first two as a starter on the road in New England and at the Meadowlands last week. Let’s just hope that the terror threat about dirty bombs going off at NFL Stadiums is just a sick joke” commented Jensen.

Last Thursday a website claimed that seven NFL stadiums will be hit with radiological dirty bombs on Sunday. The internet conversation “New Attack on America Be Afraid” mentioned that seven NFL stadiums including Miami, New York, Seattle, Atlanta, Cleveland, Oakland and Houston were all named.

The Department of Homeland Security alerted authorities and stadium owners in those cities, as well as the NFL but stated that they are looking at this threat “with strong skepticism.” Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke stated “The department strongly encourages the public to continue to go about their plans, including attending events that involve large public gatherings such as football games,” he said.

The Game will be played at Dolphin Stadium on Sunday October 22, 2006.

Brian Gauthier & A Family Member HomeCare, South Florida Home Health Care Agency, Sponsor Meyerhoff Salute to Super Bowl & Miami Dolphins Football Legend Manny Fernandez

Hollywood, Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County, Florida (PRWEB) April 16, 2011

Brian Gauthier and the staff of A Family Member HomeCare joined the Meyerhoff Center as Lead Sponsor of a successful Salute to Super Bowl and Miami Dolphins Football Legend Manny Fernandez on December 2, 2010.

Thanks in part to the help of Brian Gauthier, CEO and Administrator of A Family Member HomeCare, a South Florida home health care agency, over $ 70,000 was raised for the Meyerhoff Senior Center at the event.

Mr. Gauthier, a Meyerhoff Center Board member, was on hand with the entire staff of A Family Member Home Care to congratulate the football hero.

Manny Fernandez, a legendary member of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins and an executive at the Sunrise, Florida office of First American Title Insurance, was honored that night for his 40 years of dedication to South Florida in a December 2, 2010 tribute benefitting the Joseph Meyerhoff Senior Center.

The dinner event, which was held at the Signature Grand in Davie, celebrated Fernandez’ football accomplishments, as well as his career-spanning dedication to South Florida charitable causes.

Fernandez was bestowed with the Meyerhoff Community Award as part of the December 2 program. Of Fernandez, Hall of Fame Miami Dolphins Linebacker Nick Buoniconti said, “Super Bowl VII was the game of his life–in fact, it was the most dominant game by a defensive lineman in the history of the game.” Among other individual accords, Fernandez was voted by Pro Football Weekly and USA Today as a member of each publication’s “All-Time Super Bowl Team” and was named “Outstanding Defensive Lineman” by the Miami Dolphins from 1968 to 1973. He played in three Super Bowls for the team, two of which were victorious (Super Bowl VII and VIII).

“Manny’s ferocious determination-both as a football player and as a friend of the community-exemplifies the perennial South Florida spirit,” said Meyerhoff Chairman Mike Colodny. “The kind of excitement he generates in all his efforts is what makes South Florida such a great place to live.”

All proceeds from the December 2 dinner event went directly to benefit the Hollywood-based Meyerhoff Center, which has been serving older South Florida adults and their families by providing a variety of programs and services since 1978.
