New Green Construction Firm to Build Eco-Luxury Suite at Dallas Cowboys Practice Facility

Allen, Texas (PRWEB) December 3, 2008

A new custom green construction company — Green Star Builders, LLC — has been formed as one of the only custom builders in the DFW Metroplex that specializes in energy efficient and green building practices.

Green Star Builders was formed by entrepreneur Brett Relander, who saw a market need for a company that specializes in sustainable construction techniques and for a builder who is passionate about furthering the green building movement in north Texas. Green Star Builders specializes in custom homes, home renovation projects and commercial buildings for individuals, developers, corporations and investors.

“Finding a qualified local builder who knows the products, methods and regulations involved in building green is one of the biggest hurdles people face when trying to build green,” said Relander. “By forming a new construction company that is knowledgeable about sustainable building practices and skilled in reducing the costs of green buildings, we feel that we can eliminate one of the biggest barriers to building green in Dallas.”

One of Green Star’s initial projects is the design and construction of a green luxury suite at the Dallas Cowboys’ Valley Ranch practice facility. The three-story outdoor suite features the latest in green building techniques, including a high-efficiency ductless HVAC system, reflective windows, tankless water heaters, and a custom terrazzo floor made from recycled glass. Green Star is also building an elevated viewing platform inside the team’s indoor practice facility. The Cowboys plan to integrate the outdoor suite and the indoor viewing platform into the team’s corporate sponsorship program.

As President and CEO of Green Star Builders, Relander has been pivotal in introducing innovative green building techniques to the Dallas market. Under his leadership, Green Star has established a partnership with the EPA’s Energy Star program and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. The company is also a partner in the Sustainable Skylines initiative and Green Built North Texas. Relander is a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) and also holds a real estate license.

About Green Star Builders: Headquartered in Allen, Texas, Green Star Builders is a leader in environmentally-concious construction for the residential and commercial sectors. Shelter from the Storm: New Platform Protected Dallas Cowboys Players and Personnel During May 2 Indoor Training Facility Collapse

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 20, 2009

An indoor viewing platform designed and built by Green Star Builders, a Dallas-based custom builder specializing in energy efficient green building practices, served as an impromptu shelter during the recent weather-inspired collapse of the Dallas Cowboys’ Valley Ranch indoor practice facility in Irving.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a more grateful feeling than when I saw the news footage of those people standing under the platform we built,” said Brett Relander, Green Star Builders president and CEO. “I’ve even received some calls from the Cowboys’ organization saying how thankful they were for the integrity of that platform.”

Relander also expressed gratitude that the three-story “green” luxury suite the company constructed that overlooks the outdoor practice field sustained no damage from the storm. The suite features the latest in green building techniques, including a high-efficiency ductless HVAC system, reflective windows, tankless water heaters, and a custom terrazzo floor made from EnviroGLAS. The Cowboys plan to integrate the new green outdoor suite into the team’s corporate sponsorship program.

“I’ve been a Cowboys fan since I was very young, even though I grew up in Illinois,” said Relander. “Being able to work with this world class organization on this project has been the fulfillment of a dream. But to think that something we built may have helped save a life or prevent an injury takes our pride in this project to a whole different level.”

Haywood Sports Medicine Joins the Ranks of NCAA Champs; Local Facility Becomes the First and Only User of Biodex Technology in Western NC

Waynesville, NC (PRWEB) July 19, 2006

What do eight out of the top ten NCAA teams for 2005, the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Falcons, 23 other professional teams and Haywood Sports Medicine have in common? They all utilize the same, cutting-edge technology for treating and preventing athletic injuries.

Haywood Sports Medicine of Haywood Regional Medical Center procured and installed a Biodex System 3 machine on June 26, 2006. Utilization of this protocol enhances existing services, improving HSM?s ability to identify, document and treat physical impairments that produce functional limitations. This is especially beneficial for athletes with issues such as shoulder dysfunction, knee pain and osteoarthritis, ankle sprains, and anterior cruciate ligament concerns.

?Having access to this technology allows us to identify athletes who may have a predisposition to injury,? Dr. Christofer Catterson, Medical Director, Haywood Sports Medicine said. ?This enables us to plan interventions accordingly as well as return athletes back to play in a safe, expedient and objective manner.? Dr. Catterson, who has experience with the machine from his Fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, also noted that the technology could be utilized for other applications, such as pre-season screenings and athletic performance enhancement.

?Biodex has an excellent reputation within the sports medicine and rehabilitation arenas,? Chuck Nettles, Director of Rehabilitation Services, Haywood Regional Medical Center said. ?Proudly, we are the first facility in Western North Carolina to have this machine available. The next closest is the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C. and the U.T. Volunteers in Knoxville.?

The Biodex will be housed in the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center. Initial projections indicate that approximately 150 athletes of all ages will be referred to Haywood Sports Medicine in 2006 specifically for rehabilitative use of the machine. ?As we continue to promote this service I expect widespread utilization within the region,? Nettles said.

New York Giants Select FieldTurf For New Training Facility

East Rutherford, NJ (Vocus) May 19, 2009

FieldTurf has been selected for installation at the New York Giants’ new training facility. The Giants will have a FieldTurf full-length indoor field and an 80-yard outdoor surface at their state-of-the-art, 199,000-square foot complex. Giants President/CEO John Mara and FieldTurf CEO Joe Fields jointly made the announcement.

The Giants are in the process of relocating to their new facility, which is located on a 20-acre campus just west of Giants Stadium. The Giants have played their home games on FieldTurf since it was installed at Giants Stadium prior to the 2003 season. The stadium had also served as the team’s administrative home for the past 33 years.

“We’re looking forward to having the latest version of FieldTurf in our new practice facility,” said Mara. “The facility is state-of-the-art so it only makes sense to have the field also be state-of-the-art, and that is what FieldTurf has delivered to us. This will provide our team with consistency for both our practices and our games.”

“Everyone at FieldTurf is delighted to be able to expand our relationship with the Giants,” said Fields. “The team’s new office and practice complex is absolutely incredible…it will undoubtedly rank among the finest facilities in all of sports. With the Giants being located in the nation’s #1 market, and with the visibility that brings, the team’s selection of FieldTurf is certainly a decision of which we’re very pleased. FieldTurf is proud of our standing as the world leader in artificial surfacing, and we pledge to deliver to (Giants Head Coach) Tom Coughlin and his players a product that will provide the utmost in playability and safety.”

The Giants’ new complex will feature a total of five fields including three full-length grass fields, the indoor full-length FieldTurf field plus the 80-yard FieldTurf outdoor surface. In addition, the new facility will include a 4500-square foot football-shaped locker room, a 7500-square foot weight room, a 5900-square foot dining room and a 2500-square foot auditorium. The new building precedes by a year the opening of a new football stadium that will be shared by the Giants and the New York Jets.

3 Super Bowls lift Tom Brady past Manning as QB of decade
“Tom Terrific” did a pretty fair impersonation of “Joe Cool” during the 2000s. However, not even “Joe Cool” was as precocious as the New England Patriots’ star signal-caller: During the decade, Brady became the only quarterback in NFL history to start and win three Super Bowls before he was 28. Brady led New England to NFL championships at age 24, 26 and 27.
