Miami Hurricanes and Coker Plan to Put Suspensions Behind Them When They Battle Duke

Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 20, 2006

College football betting expert John Hoben and CEO Thomas Jensen of Point-Spreads.com, the premier provider of sports data, information, and analysis to the betting community, discusses this weekend’s most controversial NCAA Football matchup with Sports Commentator and resident Miami Hurricanes Sports Expert Marc Bednarcyk.

“Miami opened as a 17.5 point favorite but there are some odds makers that have the spread -18 as you can see on the Live Odds Board located at http://www.point-spreads.com/ncaaf-point-spreads.html ” stated Jensen. “Imagine what the line would be if the Hurricanes did not have so many players suspended for the game. Larry Coker will be fired on Monday morning if he does not win this game.”

“Now that their reputation has been tainted again, Don’t be surprised if you see the “U.” get back to the level of success of previous years and playing in Jacksonville the first weekend of December for the ACC Championship!” started Bednarczyk. “The ‘U.’ is in a ‘Take No Prisoners” mentality from this point on. Larry Coker has clearly lost control of the team inside and out. The Canes have gotten into 3 altercations in the last 7 games starting with last year’s Peach Bowl against LSU, Louisville, and then FIU. It doesn’t matter because the players will motivate themselves despite Larry Coker.”

Hoben commented “Even with Miami’s suspensions, moving the ball probably will remain a daunting task for a Blue Devils team that is led by a freshman quarterback. Duke has already has been shut out twice at home — once by Division I-AA Richmond — and has the Atlantic Coast Conference’s worst total and scoring offense.” Hoben added “The lack of respect is like a slap in the face to some Duke players”. The Blue Devils covered +26 at Alabama two weeks ago and +21 against Wake Forest back on September 9th. Last week the Blue Devils narrowly missed the +23 point cover hosting Florida State and losing 51-24, a 27-point loss.

The Miami Hurricanes’ Scandal – Yes, It Could Have Been Prevented

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 19, 2011

The Center for Ethical Youth Coaching a new non-for-profit research, education and credentialing organization states that the root of the scandal at the University of Miami football program is a critical need for coaches to be better regulated.

“It starts at the very beginning stages of being a coach. Ethics, values and screening of adults who train our kids in sports are not insisted upon. If we instill and insist on these standards from the time a coach begins their career with pee-wee players, we can change the culture of corruption that seems to be lingering in the background of sports.” Insists Dr. John Mayer, Vice-President of the Center for Ethical Youth Coaching.

The Center for Ethical Youth Coaching says the following steps should be taken to prevent further scandals:

1- The general public should get involved with an outcry for standards for coaches to follow.

2- Parents should insist that those adults that coach their children are credentialed and screened.

3- Even volunteer coaches should be credentialed–this is a huge area of vulnerability. Volunteer coaches often pass under the radar of scrutiny.

4- There are plenty of outlets and options for sport participation and entertainment, don’t support those programs that are corrupt.

The Center for Ethical Youth Coaching has developed the first comprehensive credentialing program for youth coaches. This credential includes a thorough background check by the industry leader in that area.

To become certified a coach must read a training manual and then take an exam covering the areas of ethics, safety, first aid, good communication, sportsmanship, healthy lifestyle, discipline, youth development and special issues such as dealing with parents, substance abuse, child abuse, motivation, etc. The coach passes the background check and exam and pledges to uphold the standards of the Center.

The manual alone is worth the price of the certification as it is a handbook of how to coach from A to Z. It also contains new research and techniques of how to coach with include how to get all players on your team into the game and still win, developing players to their maximum potential and success building techniques for the coach and team.

Complete information on this new certification can be found on the Center’s web site: http://www.ethicalyouthcoaching.com.

The mission of the not-for-profit Center for Ethical Youth Coaching is to raise the ethical standards of coaches who train young athletes at all levels through research, publication, public presentations and credentialing. Elevating the Culture of Sports.
