The Top 25 Hottest Tickets in College Football Week Seven

Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 19, 2007 -

Several weeks into the 2007 college football season and a glance at the hottest college football tickets reveals which teams are on the rise and which are falling. The Top 25 List began posting ticket prices a few weeks before opening games. Comparing current ticket demand to prices posted weeks ago, this week’s Top 25 List exposes which game tickets have had the greatest changes in price over the past month, which games are fans wishing they had purchased a month ago and which games are fans wishing they had waited to buy.

“The hottest tickets are LSU and USC right now,” says Rafael Rivas, Vice President of Sales for TicketCity.com. “Bama is close behind them, but the demand for LSU games and USC games is really heating up. Florida is in there too, particularly for their game against LSU.”

The average ticket price on the LSU versus Florida game is currently at $ 723.00 per ticket. That is just slightly down from its peak last week at $ 772.00, but up 70% from its price on August 10th. Then, the average price for LSU/Florida was only $ 426.00 per ticket. For USC, both their Pac 10 rivalry games against UCLA and Cal have crept up 20% over the past month. The average price on the USC/UCLA is currently $ 518.00 per ticket up from $ 440.00 and Cal is at $ 405.00 per ticket, up from $ 328.00.

So what is driving these prices up so fast? And when is the best time to buy tickets for the big game?

Rivas says, “It’s a supply and demand business. When the top teams are winning, people want to get out to see them play. And when you put two top teams together, it can send the demand through the roof like we’re seeing with LSU/Florida. That game could help decide who is going to play in the National Championship, so people want to be there (Tiger Stadium) to see it live.”

Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity.com, advises, “There isn’t an exact science to knowing the precise best time to buy tickets for a hot game. When teams are winning big, it can send the prices higher. But that isn’t always the case, and there other factors involved that can influence the price of a ticket.”

The principle factor is the demand from the fans, which can be adversely affected not just by losses, but by poor performance on the field. Explains Cohen, “If a team continues to squeak out games they should be winning easily; sometimes the fans unhappiness causes them not to turn out as strong for future games.” And conversely, if an underdog wins some games against higher ranked opponents, it can raise the bar on their future match ups.

Other factors that can have an affect on the price of tickets are the size of the stadium, the number of tickets available on the market, the weather forecast for game day, the date and time of the game. “More people turn out for a game when the sun is shining and temperature is perfect,” says Rivas. Those ‘perfect Fall Saturdays’ make the experience at a game just that much better.”

But with some games peaking in price, some others have dropped significantly over the past month. The price of the Notre Dame versus USC game in South Bend has steadily declined over the past month. On August 10th the average ticket price was $ 950.00 per ticket, and today it is at $ 527.00 per ticket. Similarly the price of the Notre Dame versus Boston College game has dipped from $ 661.00 per ticket, a month ago, to just $ 297.00 per ticket today.

Even the prices for the huge rivalry game between Ohio State and Michigan are down significantly. In early August the price per ticket hovered near $ 1000.00 per ticket, and today it is half of that price at $ 526.00 per ticket. This is the game that last year was the #1 hottest ticket in college football.

“Notre Dame and Michigan’s early struggles have really dampened the market on their games,” says Rivas. “And Florida State’s loss to Clemson has had a similar affect on them. I still expect the games involving these teams to be big, because they are all big time programs. But the prices definitely won’t come close to where they would have been if the teams were still undefeated.”

“If you’ve never been, this might be the year to finally see that Ohio State/Michigan game,” adds Cohen. Assuming Michigan doesn’t turn it around and run the table in conference.”

TicketCity.com releases this week’s (September 17th) list of the top 25 hottest games of 2007 based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over 800 established ticket brokers, and every fan who is listing extra tickets to sell.

TARDEC Showcases Army Robots and Hybrid-Electric Technology to San Antonio Schools During All-American Bowl Week Events

Detroit Arsenal, Warren, MI (Vocus) January 9, 2010

The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), and U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) are showcasing some of the latest military robotics and hybrid-electric technology in the Army Strong Zone display Jan. 4-9, 2010, at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. In advance of the game, TARDEC took several robots to San Antonio high schools this week to educate students on this high-tech, emerging technology that will become an increasingly lucrative career track for engineers and scientists in the immediate future.

“Right now the center of the universe for robotics is located at TARDEC in Warren, MI.,” stated Dr. Jim Overholt, TARDEC Joint Center for Robotics (JCR) Director and Acting Director, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Joint Ground Robotics Enterprise (JGRE). “Almost every dollar spent on ground robotics is now coming through TARDEC. We’re talking about $ 1 billion by the U.S. Army and the Department of Defense in robotics, and we need future robotics engineers.”

Earlier this week, students at TMI — The Episcopal School of Texas — were visited by TARDEC Engineer Bernard Theisen and a TALON robot. Theisen spoke to various groups of students about how robots are doing the “dull, dirty, dangerous work we don’t want our Soldiers performing,” and demonstrated TALON’s amazing capabilities. TALON provides Soldiers the ability to identify explosive devices and mines visually and neutralize them from safe stand-off distances.

Theisen went on to explain that the goal of robotics research is to enhance Soldier situational awareness allowing Soldiers to complete their missions without unduly exposing themselves to enemy attacks or explosive devices.

“It’s always great to get in front of students and explain the work we’re doing and career paths available to them,” explained Theisen. There are more than 6,000 robots operating in the field today. That’s a fact that surprises these classes.”

“For the first time during the All American Bowl, we extended the reach of our interactive robotics display to San Antonio-area schools, and we were overwhelmed with the reception,” agreed TARDEC Associate Director of Intelligent Ground Systems Jeff Jaster. “Combining that effort with the thousands of student and fans who will visit our display over the weekend demonstrates how TARDEC is helping the Army utilize the latest, most-advanced robotics technologies.”

For 10 years, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has served as the preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. The Army Strong Zone is a 129,000 square-foot interactive display area profiling a selection of Army elite technology and assets. Army Soldiers are also on-site to provide visitors with a glimpse into Army life and the many options and opportunities available through military service.

The Top 25 Hottest Tickets in College Football Week 10

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 12, 2007

Unpredictable. The only word used to describe the 2007 college football season. In reviewing the AP and USA Today polls, four of the current top 10 teams opened the year unranked, and three of the top 25 weren’t even among the 47 teams to receive preseason AP votes. Despite the major changes in ranking, ticket demand reveals the schools with the most dedicated and passionate fans.

From Michigan to USC, tickets to schools with traditionally strong fan bases rank high among this week’s list. Several games moved up on the list including Florida versus Florida State, Auburn versus Alabama and South Carolina versus Florida all with ticket prices increasing by $ 50. Despite the shake up in the polls, it’s the traditional school rivalries that flood this week’s top 25 list. Roughly half of the list is composed of classic rivalries.

“Team performances this season are shocking but fans will still rally behind their favorite teams despite drops in ranking,” comments Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity. “Just take a look at three of the top 10 tickets in demand. It’s the long standing rivalry between schools that is driving ticket demand.”

The average ticket price for the following games proves tradition trumps ranking. Michigan versus Ohio State at $ 569, USC versus UCLA at $ 527, Auburn versus Alabama at $ 505 and even Texas versus Texas A&M at $ 349 are the going rates to attend the traditional rivalries.

“College football is synonymous with passionate fans,” says Cohen. “But ticket demand this season proves that loyal fans remain so through thick and thin.”

The top five games on the “Hottest Ticket” list are: Cal versus USC, Michigan versus Ohio State, Florida State at Florida, Alabama versus LSU and South Carolina versus Clemson. Only the first three of those games were ranked in the top 5 on last week’s list. The remaining USC versus UCLA, Auburn vs Alabama, South Carolina versus Florida, Georgia versus Florida and LSU vs Auburn.

TicketCity.com releases this week’s list of the top 25 hottest games of 2007 based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country. The secondary market is comprised of over 800 established ticket brokers, and every fan who is listing extra tickets to sell.

The Top 25 Hottest Tickets in College Football Week 15

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) November 14, 2007

As the seasons change, college football rivalry games are upon us. In the coming weeks some of the biggest matchups in college football will be played, including; Ohio State versus Michigan, Florida versus Florida, Oregon versus Oregon State (aka: “The Civil War”) and Army versus Navy. What is the hottest rivalry game right now? It’s the Kansas Jayhawks versus the Missouri Tigers. The Jayhawks and Tigers find themselves both in the top 5 of the polls for the first time in decades. These two upstarts are set to square off in Arrowhead Stadium on November 24th, 2007.

The Kansas and Missouri game currently ranks 5th on the TicketCity list of hottest college football games. After both teams won this past weekend, the average price per ticket shot up from $ 239.00 last week to $ 379.00 today. The game moved from #19 on the list to #5.

“Kansas versus Mizzou is a huge game right now,” says Rafael Rivas, Vice President of Sales at TicketCity. “The demand for that game is higher than it’s ever been for us. If neither team falters this weekend, that game will decide which team will represent the North (Division) in the Big 12 Championship. And the winner will also have a shot at making it into the BCS National Championship Game. This is such a big game that is to both programs.”

CollegeFootballNews.com ranks the top 10 college football rivalries as: 1) Ohio State vs Michigan, 2) Miami vs Florida State, 3) Alabama vs Auburn, 4) Army vs Navy, 5) Oklahoma vs Texas, 6) Notre Dame vs USC, 7) Florida vs Georgia, 8) UCLA vs USC, 9) Florida vs Florida State, and 10) California vs Stanford. Half of those games will be played in the next two weeks, and all of them are ranked in the top 25 hottest games by TicketCity.

Demand is high for tickets for the Auburn versus Alabama game, also known as “The Iron Bowl”. The average ticket price jumped up $ 50, even after both teams lost last weekend. The cause due to what Rivas calls the “Saban effect.” Prices are also rising on the Army Navy game and for the Civil War; which could be Oregon’s last roadblock on the way to the BCS Championship Game.

Other college rivalry games that are garnering more interest from ticket buyers are Texas A&M versus Texas and Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State. Says Rivas, “The A&M game could decide whether Texas gets an invite to a BCS bowl game. And the Bedlam Series should be a great game, since both OU and Oklahoma State have great teams. Fans are going to turn out for both of those games.”

While demand for some rivalry games are increasing, the opposite is happening to ticket prices for certain games. Prices on the Ohio State versus Michigan game fell almost $ 200 per ticket, after both teams were upset last weekend. And South Carolina versus Clemson prices dropped from $ 345.00 last week, to $ 277.00 this week, after the Gamecocks got routed by Florida.

“The prices on Ohio State Michigan have been bouncing around all year,” says Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity. “They started out very high in August based on the hype from last season, then dipped when Michigan dropped their first two games. But they’d been rising over the past two months, until last weekend. Now the price is as low as it’s been in two years, so it’s a great chance for fans to see this legendary game.”

Regarding the slumping prices for a couple of games, Cohen states, “That’s how this business works. It’s all based on supply and demand. And every year there are some games where prices fall more than expected, just like there are those games that surprise everyone in their demand. Like Kansas Mizzou, that’s a great story for both of those schools and should be a heck of a game in KC.”

TicketCity releases this week’s list of the top 25 hottest games of 2007 based on average ticket price. The list was accumulated by compiling a majority of the available tickets on the secondary market throughout the entire country.
